1 When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.And it came to pass, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.어느 안식일에 예수께서 한 바리새파 지도자의 집에 음식을 잡수시러 들어가셨는데, 사람들이 예수를 지켜보고 있었다.
2 Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.And behold, there was before him a certain man that had the dropsy.마침 그 앞에 수종병을 앓는 사람이 있었다.
3 Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “ Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?예수께서 율법 교사들과 바리새파 사람들에게 물으셨다. "안식일에 병을 고치는 것이 옳으냐?"
4 But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.But they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go.그러나 그들은 잠잠했다. 예수께서는 그 사람을 붙드시고 고쳐 주신 뒤 돌려보내셨다.
5 He answered them, “ Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, wouldn’ t immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”And he said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a well, and will not straightway draw him up on a sabbath day?그리고 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "너희 가운데 누가 아들이나 소가 우물에 빠지면, 안식일이라도 곧바로 끌어내지 않겠느냐?"
6 They couldn’t answer him regarding these things.And they could not answer again unto these things.그들은 이 말씀에 아무런 대답도 하지 못했다.
7 He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,And he spake a parable unto those that were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief seats; saying unto them,예수께서는 초대받은 사람들이 윗자리를 골라 앉는 것을 보시고 그들에게 비유로 말씀하셨다.
8 “ When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, don’ t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,When thou art bidden of any man to a marriage feast, sit not down in the chief seat; lest haply a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him,"누가 너를 혼인 잔치에 초대하거든 윗자리에 앉지 말아라. 혹시 너보다 더 귀한 사람이 초대받았을지도 모르니,
9 and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘ Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place.그러면 너와 그를 초대한 사람이 와서 너에게 '이 사람에게 자리를 내어 주십시오' 하고 말할 것이고, 그때 너는 부끄러워하며 맨 끝자리로 내려가게 될 것이다.
10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘ Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place; that when he that hath bidden thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have glory in the presence of all that sit at meat with thee.그러니 초대를 받거든 가서 맨 끝자리에 앉아라. 그러면 너를 초대한 사람이 와서 '친구여, 더 윗자리로 올라오십시오' 하고 말할 것이니, 그때 너는 함께 식탁에 앉은 모든 사람 앞에서 영광을 얻게 될 것이다.
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.누구든지 자기를 높이는 사람은 낮아지고, 자기를 낮추는 사람은 높아질 것이다."
12 He also said to the one who had invited him, “ When you make a dinner or a supper, don’ t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.And he said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbors; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.예수께서는 또 자기를 초대한 사람에게도 말씀하셨다. "네가 점심이나 저녁을 베풀 때에 친구나 형제나 친척이나 부유한 이웃을 부르지 말아라. 그러면 그들도 너를 다시 초대하여 네게 갚을지도 모른다.
13 But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;But when thou makest a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:잔치를 베풀거든 오히려 가난한 사람과 몸이 불편한 사람과 다리 저는 사람과 보지 못하는 사람을 청하여라.
14 and you will be blessed, because they don’ t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not wherewith to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.그러면 너는 복을 받을 것이다. 그들은 네게 갚을 길이 없기 때문이다. 의인이 부활할 때에 네가 갚음을 받을 것이다."
15 When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “ Blessed is he who will feast in God’s Kingdom!”And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.함께 식탁에 앉아 있던 사람 가운데 하나가 이 말씀을 듣고 예수께 말했다. "하나님 나라에서 잔치에 참여하는 사람은 복이 있습니다!"
16 But he said to him, “ A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.But he said unto him, A certain man made a great supper; and he bade many:그러자 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "어떤 사람이 큰 잔치를 베풀고 많은 사람을 초대했다.
17 He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, ‘ Come, for everything is ready now.’and he sent forth his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.잔치 시간이 되자 그는 자기 종을 보내어 초대받은 사람들에게 '이제 다 준비되었으니 오십시오' 하고 전하게 했다.
18 They all as one began to make excuses. “ The first said to him, ‘ I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.’And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and I must needs go out and see it; I pray thee have me excused.그러나 그들은 하나같이 핑계를 대기 시작했다. 첫째 사람이 말했다. '제가 밭을 샀는데 가서 봐야 합니다. 부디 양해해 주십시오.'
19 “ Another said, ‘ I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.’And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them; I pray thee have me excused.또 다른 사람이 말했다. '제가 소 다섯 겨리를 샀는데 가서 시험해 봐야 합니다. 부디 양해해 주십시오.'
20 “ Another said, ‘ I have married a wife, and therefore I can’t come.’And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.또 다른 사람은 '제가 막 장가를 들어서 갈 수 없습니다' 하고 말했다.
21 “ That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘ Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.’And the servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor and maimed and blind and lame.종이 돌아와 주인에게 이 일들을 알렸다. 그러자 집주인은 화가 나서 종에게 말했다. '어서 성안의 거리와 골목으로 나가서 가난한 사람과 몸이 불편한 사람과 보지 못하는 사람과 다리 저는 사람을 데려오너라.'
22 “ The servant said, ‘ Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.’And the servant said, Lord, what thou didst command is done, and yet there is room.종이 말했다. '주인님, 명하신 대로 했지만 아직도 자리가 남아 있습니다.'
23 “ The lord said to the servant, ‘ Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and constrain them to come in, that my house may be filled.주인이 종에게 말했다. '큰길과 울타리 쪽으로 나가서 사람들을 억지로라도 데려와 내 집을 채워라.
24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper. For many are called, but few are chosen.’”For I say unto you, that none of those men that were bidden shall taste of my supper.내가 너희에게 말한다. 처음에 초대받았던 그 사람들은 아무도 내 잔치를 맛보지 못할 것이다.'"
25 Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them,Now there went with him great multitudes: and he turned, and said unto them,많은 무리가 예수와 함께 가고 있었다. 예수께서 돌아서서 그들에게 말씀하셨다.
26 “ If anyone comes to me, and doesn’ t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’ t be my disciple.If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."누구든지 내게로 오면서 자기 아버지와 어머니와 아내와 자식과 형제와 자매, 그리고 자기 목숨까지도 미워하지 않으면 내 제자가 될 수 없다.
27 Whoever doesn’ t bear his own cross and come after me, can’ t be my disciple.Whosoever doth not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.누구든지 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따르지 않으면 내 제자가 될 수 없다.
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’ t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost, whether he have wherewith to complete it?너희 가운데 누가 망대를 세우려 할 때에, 먼저 앉아서 그것을 완성할 만한 비용이 있는지 따져 보지 않겠느냐?
29 Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and isn’ t able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,Lest haply, when he hath laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him,그렇게 하지 않으면 기초만 놓고 끝내지 못하여, 보는 사람마다 그를 비웃으며
30 saying, ‘ This man began to build and wasn’ t able to finish.’saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.'이 사람이 짓기 시작은 했으나 끝내지는 못했다' 하고 말할 것이다.
31 Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?Or what king, as he goeth to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?또 어느 임금이 다른 임금과 싸우러 나갈 때에, 먼저 앉아서 만 명으로 이만 명을 거느리고 오는 자를 맞설 수 있을지 헤아려 보지 않겠느냐?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and asketh conditions of peace.그렇게 할 수 없다면, 상대가 아직 멀리 있을 때에 사신을 보내어 화친의 조건을 물을 것이다.
33 So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’ t renounce all that he has, he can’ t be my disciple.So therefore whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.이와 같이 너희 가운데 누구든지 자기가 가진 모든 것을 버리지 않으면 내 제자가 될 수 없다.
34 “Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?Salt therefore is good: but if even the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be seasoned?소금은 좋은 것이다. 그러나 소금이 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 다시 짜게 하겠느냐?
35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill: men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.그것은 땅에도 거름에도 쓸모가 없어 밖에 버려질 뿐이다. 들을 귀가 있는 사람은 들어라."
