1 The men of Ephraim said to him, “ Why have you treated us this way, that you didn’t call us when you went to fight with Midian?” They rebuked him sharply.And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with Midian? 2 He said to them, “ What have I now done in comparison with you? 3 God has delivered into your hand the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb! 7 Gideon said, “ Therefore when Yahweh has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.”And Gideon said, Therefore when Jehovah hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.기드온이 말했다. 9 He spoke also to the men of Penuel, saying, “ When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.”And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.기드온이 브누엘 사람들에게도 말했다. "내가 평안히 돌아올 때 이 망대를 헐어 버리리라."

11 Gideon went up by the way of those who lived in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and struck the army; for the army felt secure.And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host; for the host was secure.기드온이 노바와 욕브하 동쪽 천막에 살던 사람들의 길로 올라가 그 군대를 쳤으니, 그 군대가 방심하고 있었기 때문이다.
12 Zebah and Zalmunna fled and he pursued them. He took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and confused all the army.And Zebah and Zalmunna fled; and he pursued after them; and he took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host.세바와 살문나가 도망쳤으나 기드온이 그들을 쫓아가, 미디안의 두 왕 세바와 살문나를 사로잡고 그 온 군대를 혼란에 빠뜨렸다.

15 He came to the men of Succoth, and said, “ See Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom you taunted me, saying, ‘ Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are weary?’”And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom ye did taunt me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thy hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?기드온이 숙곳 사람들에게 와서 말했다. "여기 세바와 살문나가 있다. 너희가 나를 두고 조롱하며 '세바와 살문나의 손이 벌써 네 손안에 있다고, 지친 네 사람들에게 우리가 빵을 주어야 한단 말이냐?' 하지 않았느냐."

17 He broke down the tower of Penuel, and killed the men of the city.And he brake down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.또 기드온이 브누엘의 망대를 헐고 그 성읍 사람들을 죽였다.
18 Then he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, “What kind of men were they whom you killed at Tabor?” They answered, “ They were like you. They all resembled the children of a king.”Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.그러고 나서 기드온이 세바와 살문나에게 말했다. "너희가 다볼에서 죽인 사람들은 어떤 사람들이었느냐?" 그들이 대답했다. "당신과 같았소. 하나하나가 왕의 아들들 같았소."
19 He said, “ They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As Yahweh lives, if you had saved them alive, I would not kill you.”And he said, They were my brethren, the sons of my mother: as Jehovah liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.기드온이 말했다. "그들은 내 형제들, 내 어머니의 아들들이었다. 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하는데, 너희가 그들을 살려 두었더라면 내가 너희를 죽이지 않았을 것이다."
20 He said to Jether his firstborn, “ Get up and kill them!” But the youth didn’t draw his sword; for he was afraid, because he was yet a youth.And he said unto Jether his first-born, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword; for he feared, because he was yet a youth.기드온이 맏아들 여델에게 말했다. "일어나 그들을 죽여라!" 그러나 그 소년은 칼을 뽑지 못했으니, 아직 어렸기에 두려워했던 것이다.
21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, “ You rise and fall on us; for as the man is, so is his strength.” Gideon arose, and killed Zebah and Zalmunna, and took the crescents that were on their camels’ necks.Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us; for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took the crescents that were on their camels’ necks.그러자 세바와 살문나가 말했다. "당신이 직접 일어나 우리를 치시오. 사람이 어떠하냐에 따라 그 힘도 그러한 법이오." 기드온이 일어나 세바와 살문나를 죽이고, 그들의 낙타 목에 달려 있던 초승달 장식을 거두었다.
22 Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “ Rule over us, both you, your son, and your son’s son also; for you have saved us out of the hand of Midian.”Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also; for thou hast saved us out of the hand of Midian.그러자 이스라엘 사람들이 기드온에게 말했다. "당신이 우리를 미디안의 손에서 구원하셨으니, 당신과 당신의 아들과 손자가 우리를 다스려 주십시오."
23 Gideon said to them, “ I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you. Yahweh shall rule over you.”And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: Jehovah shall rule over you.기드온이 그들에게 말했다. "내가 너희를 다스리지 않을 것이며, 내 아들도 너희를 다스리지 않을 것이다. 여호와께서 너희를 다스리실 것이다."
24 Gideon said to them, “ I do have a request: that you would each give me the earrings of his plunder.” ( For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)And Gideon said unto them, I would make a request of you, that ye would give me every man the ear-rings of his spoil. 25 They answered, “ We will willingly give them.” They spread a garment, and every man threw the earrings of his plunder into it.And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the ear-rings of his spoil.그들이 대답했다. "기꺼이 드리겠습니다." 그러고는 겉옷을 펼쳐 놓고, 각 사람이 노략한 귀고리를 그 위에 던졌다.
26 The weight of the golden earrings that he requested was one thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold, in addition to the crescents, and the pendants, and the purple clothing that was on the kings of Midian, and in addition to the chains that were about their camels’ necks.And the weight of the golden ear-rings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; besides the crescents, and the pendants, and the purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were about their camels’ necks.기드온이 청하여 받은 금 귀고리의 무게는 금 천칠백 세겔이었으니, 초승달 장식과 패물과 미디안 왕들이 입었던 자주색 옷과 그들의 낙타 목에 달려 있던 사슬은 이 밖이었다.
27 Gideon made an ephod out of it, and put it in Ophrah, his city. Then all Israel played the prostitute with it there; and it became a snare to Gideon and to his house.And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel played the harlot after it there; and it became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.기드온이 그것으로 에봇 하나를 만들어 자기 성읍 오브라에 두었더니, 온 이스라엘이 거기서 그것을 좇아 음란하게 행했고, 그것이 기드온과 그의 집안에 올무가 되었다.
28 So Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, and they lifted up their heads no more. 30 Gideon had seventy sons conceived from his body, for he had many wives.And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten; for he had many wives.기드온에게는 자기 몸에서 난 아들이 일흔 명 있었으니, 그가 아내를 많이 두었기 때문이다.
31 His concubine who was in Shechem also bore him a son, and he named him Abimelech.And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, and he called his name Abimelech.세겜에 있던 그의 첩도 그에게 아들을 낳아 주었는데, 기드온이 그 이름을 아비멜렉이라 했다.

35 neither did they show kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, that is, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shown to Israel.neither showed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had showed unto Israel.또 기드온 곧 여룹바알이 이스라엘에 베푼 모든 선한 일을 따라 그의 집안에 친절을 베풀지도 않았다.
