1 But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat. He said, “ I will go in to my wife’s room.” But her father wouldn’t allow him to go in.But it came to pass after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.얼마 후 밀 수확 때가 되자 삼손이 새끼 염소 한 마리를 가지고 자기 아내를 찾아가서 "내 아내의 방으로 들어가겠소" 하고 말했다. 그러나 그녀의 아버지가 들어가지 못하게 막았다.
2 Her father said, “ I most certainly thought that you utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please, take her instead.”And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.그녀의 아버지가 말했다. "나는 자네가 그 아이를 완전히 미워하는 줄로 굳게 여겼네. 그래서 자네의 친구에게 그 아이를 주었네. 그 동생이 그 아이보다 더 아름답지 않은가? 부디 그 아이 대신에 동생을 데려가게."
3 Samson said to them, “ This time I will be blameless in the case of the Philistines when I harm them.”And Samson said unto them, This time shall I be blameless in regard of the Philistines, when I do them a mischief.삼손이 그들에게 말했다. "이번에는 내가 블레셋 사람들에게 해를 끼쳐도 그들에게 책임질 일이 없을 것이다."
4 Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch in the middle between every two tails.And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between every two tails.삼손이 가서 여우 삼백 마리를 잡고 횃불들을 가져다가 꼬리와 꼬리를 마주 묶고는 두 꼬리 사이마다 횃불 하나씩을 끼워 넣었다.
5 When he had set the torches on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the olive groves.And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the oliveyards.그 횃불들에 불을 붙여 블레셋 사람들의 곡식밭으로 풀어 놓으니, 베어 쌓아 둔 곡식단과 아직 서 있는 곡식과 올리브 밭까지 모두 태워 버렸다.
6 Then the Philistines said, “ Who has done this?” They said, “ Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and given her to his companion.” The Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire.Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they said, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.그러자 블레셋 사람들이 "누가 이런 일을 했느냐?" 하고 물었다. 사람들이 대답했다. "딤나 사람의 사위 삼손이오. 그 장인이 삼손의 아내를 빼앗아 그의 친구에게 주었기 때문이오." 블레셋 사람들이 올라가 그 여자와 그녀의 아버지를 불태워 죽였다.
7 Samson said to them, “ If you behave like this, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will cease.”And Samson said unto them, If ye do after this manner, surely I will be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.삼손이 그들에게 말했다. "너희가 이렇게 한다면, 내가 반드시 너희에게 원수를 갚고야 말겠다. 그런 다음에야 그치겠다."
8 He struck them hip and thigh with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cave in Etam’s rock.And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam.그러고는 삼손이 그들을 크게 쳐서 닥치는 대로 죽이고, 내려가서 에담 바위 틈에 머물러 살았다.
9 Then the Philistines went up, encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.Then the Philistines went up, and encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.그러자 블레셋 사람들이 올라와 유다에 진을 치고 레히에 두루 퍼졌다.
10 The men of Judah said, “ Why have you come up against us?” They said, “ We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.”And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they said, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.유다 사람들이 물었다. "어찌하여 너희가 우리를 치러 올라왔느냐?" 그들이 대답했다. "삼손을 묶어, 그가 우리에게 한 그대로 그에게 갚아 주려고 올라왔다."
11 Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cave in Etam’s rock, and said to Samson, “Don’t you know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?” He said to them, “ As they did to me, so I have done to them.”Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what then is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.그러자 유다 사람 삼천 명이 에담 바위 틈으로 내려가 삼손에게 말했다. "블레셋 사람들이 우리를 다스리는 자들인 줄을 너는 알지 못하느냐? 그런데 네가 우리에게 한 이 일이 무엇이냐?" 삼손이 그들에게 대답했다. "그들이 내게 한 그대로 나도 그들에게 갚았을 뿐이다."
12 They said to him, “ We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “ Swear to me that you will not attack me yourselves.”And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.그들이 그에게 말했다. "우리는 너를 묶어 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘기려고 내려왔다." 삼손이 그들에게 말했다. "너희가 직접 나를 치지 않겠다고 내게 맹세하여라."
13 They spoke to him, saying, “ No, but we will bind you securely and deliver you into their hands; but surely we will not kill you.” They bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.그들이 그에게 말했다. "그러지 않겠다. 우리는 다만 너를 단단히 묶어 그들의 손에 넘길 뿐, 결코 너를 죽이지는 않겠다." 그러고는 새 밧줄 두 개로 그를 묶어 바위에서 끌고 올라갔다.
14 When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. Then Yahweh’s Spirit came mightily on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that was burned with fire; and his bands dropped from off his hands.When he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him: and the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon him, and the ropes that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands dropped from off his hands.삼손이 레히에 이르자 블레셋 사람들이 그를 맞으며 소리를 질렀다. 그때 여호와의 영이 그에게 강하게 임하니, 그의 팔에 묶인 밧줄이 불에 탄 삼처럼 되어 그 결박이 손에서 끊어져 떨어졌다.
15 He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, put out his hand, took it, and struck a thousand men with it.And he found a fresh jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and smote a thousand men therewith.삼손이 막 죽은 나귀의 턱뼈 하나를 발견하고 손을 내밀어 그것을 집어 들고는 그것으로 천 명을 쳐 죽였다.
16 Samson said, “ With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps on heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.”And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of an ass have I smitten a thousand men.삼손이 말했다. "나귀의 턱뼈로 무더기 위에 무더기를 쌓았구나. 나귀의 턱뼈로 내가 천 명을 쳐 죽였구나."
17 When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath Lehi.And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi.말을 마치고 나서 삼손은 그 턱뼈를 손에서 내던졌다. 그래서 그곳을 라맛 레히라 불렀다.
18 He was very thirsty, and called on Yahweh and said, “ You have given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant; and now shall I die of thirst, and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”And he was sore athirst, and called on Jehovah, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant; and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised.삼손이 몹시 목이 말라 여호와께 부르짖어 말했다. "주께서 주의 종의 손으로 이 큰 구원을 베푸셨는데, 이제 제가 목말라 죽어 할례받지 않은 자들의 손에 떨어져야 하겠습니까?"
19 But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out of it. When he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived. Therefore its name was called En Hakkore, which is in Lehi, to this day.But God clave the hollow place that is in Lehi, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore the name thereof was called En-hakkore, which is in Lehi, unto this day.그러자 하나님께서 레히에 있는 우묵한 곳을 가르시니 거기서 물이 솟아 나왔다. 삼손이 그 물을 마시고 정신이 돌아와 다시 기운을 차렸다. 그래서 그곳 이름을 엔학고레라 불렀는데, 그곳은 오늘날까지 레히에 있다.
20 He judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.삼손은 블레셋 사람들이 다스리던 시대에 이십 년 동안 이스라엘의 사사로 일했다.
