1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people who were with him, rose up early and encamped beside the spring of Harod. Midian’s camp was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and encamped beside the spring of Harod: and the camp of Midian was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.여룹바알 곧 기드온과 그를 따르는 모든 백성이 아침 일찍 일어나 하롯 샘 곁에 진을 쳤다. 미디안의 진영은 그들의 북쪽, 골짜기 안 모레 언덕 쪽에 있었다.
2 Yahweh said to Gideon, “ The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel brag against me, saying, ‘ My own hand has saved me.’And Jehovah said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.여호와께서 기드온에게 말씀하셨다. "너와 함께한 백성이 너무 많아서 내가 미디안 사람을 그들의 손에 넘겨줄 수 없다. 이스라엘이 나를 거슬러 '내 손이 나를 구원하였다'고 자랑할까 염려된다.
3 Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘ Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.그러므로 이제 백성의 귀에 외쳐 말하여라. '두려워 떠는 사람은 누구든지 돌아가 길르앗 산을 떠나라.'" 그러자 백성 가운데 이만 이천 명이 돌아가고 만 명이 남았다.
4 Yahweh said to Gideon, “ There are still too many people. Bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. It shall be, that those whom I tell you, ‘ This shall go with you,’ shall go with you; and whoever I tell you, ‘ This shall not go with you,’ shall not go.”And Jehovah said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.여호와께서 기드온에게 말씀하셨다. "백성이 아직도 너무 많다. 그들을 물가로 데리고 내려가라. 거기서 내가 너를 위하여 그들을 시험하겠다. 내가 너에게 '이 사람은 너와 함께 가야 한다'고 말하는 자는 너와 함께 갈 것이요, 내가 너에게 '이 사람은 너와 함께 가서는 안 된다'고 말하는 자는 가지 못할 것이다."
5 So he brought down the people to the water; and Yahweh said to Gideon, “ Everyone who laps of the water with his tongue, like a dog laps, you shall set him by himself; likewise everyone who bows down on his knees to drink.”So he brought down the people unto the water: and Jehovah said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.그래서 기드온이 백성을 물가로 데리고 내려가니 여호와께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "개가 핥듯이 혀로 물을 핥는 사람은 다 따로 세우고, 마찬가지로 무릎을 꿇고 마시는 사람도 다 따로 세워라."
6 The number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people bowed down on their knees to drink water.And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.손으로 물을 떠서 입에 대고 핥은 사람의 수는 삼백 명이었고, 나머지 백성은 모두 무릎을 꿇고 물을 마셨다.
7 Yahweh said to Gideon, “ I will save you by the three hundred men who lapped, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, each to his own place.”And Jehovah said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let all the people go every man unto his place.여호와께서 기드온에게 말씀하셨다. "물을 핥은 이 삼백 명으로 내가 너희를 구원하고 미디안 사람을 네 손에 넘겨주겠다. 나머지 백성은 다 각자 자기 처소로 돌아가게 하여라."
8 So the people took food in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the rest of the men of Israel to their own tents, but retained the three hundred men; and the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the men of Israel every man unto his tent, but retained the three hundred men: and the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.그래서 백성은 양식과 나팔을 손에 들었고, 기드온은 이스라엘의 모든 사람을 각각 자기 장막으로 돌려보내고 삼백 명만 남겨 두었다. 미디안의 진영은 그 아래 골짜기에 있었다.
9 That same night, Yahweh said to him, “ Arise, go down into the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.And it came to pass the same night, that Jehovah said unto him, Arise, get thee down into the camp; for I have delivered it into thy hand.그날 밤에 여호와께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "일어나 진영으로 내려가라. 내가 그것을 네 손에 넘겨주었다.
10 But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp.But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Purah thy servant down to the camp:그러나 만일 네가 내려가기를 두려워하거든 네 부하 부라와 함께 그 진영으로 내려가라.
11 You will hear what they say; and afterward your hands will be strengthened to go down into the camp.” Then went he down with Purah his servant to the outermost part of the armed men who were in the camp.and thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thy hands be strengthened to go down into the camp. Then went he down with Purah his servant unto the outermost part of the armed men that were in the camp.그러면 그들이 하는 말을 듣게 될 것이니, 그 후에 네 손이 강하여져서 그 진영으로 내려갈 수 있을 것이다." 그래서 기드온이 부하 부라와 함께 진영에 있는 무장한 사람들의 맨 끝까지 내려갔다.

13 When Gideon had come, behold, there was a man telling a dream to his fellow. He said, “ Behold, I dreamed a dream; and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, came to the tent, and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.”And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man telling a dream unto his fellow; and he said, Behold, I dreamed a dream; and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, and came unto the tent, and smote it so that it fell, and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.기드온이 이르렀을 때, 보라, 한 사람이 자기 동료에게 꿈 이야기를 하고 있었다. 그가 말하기를 "보라, 내가 꿈을 꾸었는데, 보아라, 보리떡 한 덩어리가 미디안 진영 안으로 굴러 들어와 장막에 부딪치니 장막이 무너져 뒤집혀 납작하게 쓰러지더라."
14 His fellow answered, “ This is nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel. God has delivered Midian into his hand, with all the army.”And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: into his hand God hath delivered Midian, and all the host.그의 동료가 대답하였다. "이것은 다름이 아니라 이스라엘 사람 요아스의 아들 기드온의 칼이다. 하나님께서 미디안과 그 온 군대를 그의 손에 넘겨주셨다."
15 It was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. Then he returned into the camp of Israel and said, “ Arise, for Yahweh has delivered the army of Midian into your hand!”And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped; and he returned into the camp of Israel, and said, Arise; for Jehovah hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.기드온이 그 꿈 이야기와 해석을 듣고 경배하였다. 그리고 이스라엘 진영으로 돌아와 말하였다. "일어나라! 여호와께서 미디안의 군대를 너희 손에 넘겨주셨다!"

17 He said to them, “ Watch me, and do likewise. Behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so you shall do.And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.그가 그들에게 말하였다. "나를 보고 그대로 따라 하여라. 보라, 내가 진영의 맨 끝에 이르거든, 내가 하는 대로 너희도 그렇게 하여라.
18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and shout, ‘ For Yahweh and for Gideon!’”When I blow the trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, For Jehovah and for Gideon.나와 나와 함께한 모든 사람이 나팔을 불거든 너희도 진영의 사방에서 나팔을 불며 '여호와를 위하여, 기드온을 위하여!' 하고 외쳐라."
19 So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch. Then they blew the trumpets and broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.그리하여 기드온과 그를 따르는 백 명이 한밤중이 시작될 무렵, 막 보초를 세운 직후에 진영의 맨 끝에 이르러 나팔을 불며 손에 든 항아리를 깨뜨렸다.
20 The three companies blew the trumpets, broke the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands with which to blow; and they shouted, “ The sword of Yahweh and of Gideon!”And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands wherewith to blow; and they cried, The sword of Jehovah and of Gideon.세 무리가 모두 나팔을 불고 항아리를 깨뜨리며, 왼손에는 횃불을 들고 오른손에는 불 나팔을 들고서 외쳤다. "여호와와 기드온의 칼이다!"
21 They each stood in his place around the camp, and all the army ran; and they shouted, and put them to flight.And they stood every man in his place round about the camp; and all the host ran; and they shouted, and put them to flight.그들은 각자 자기 자리에 서서 진영을 에워쌌고, 온 군대가 달아나며 소리치고 도망쳤다.
22 They blew the three hundred trumpets, and Yahweh set every man’s sword against his fellow and against all the army; and the army fled as far as Beth Shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.And they blew the three hundred trumpets, and Jehovah set every man’s sword against his fellow, and against all the host; and the host fled as far as Beth-shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.그 삼백 명이 나팔을 불자, 여호와께서 진영 안 모든 사람의 칼이 서로 그 동료를 치게 하시고 온 군대를 치게 하셨다. 그래서 군대는 스레라 쪽 벧 싯다까지, 답밧 가까운 아벨 므홀라 경계까지 도망쳤다.
23 The men of Israel were gathered together out of Naphtali, out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued Midian.And the men of Israel were gathered together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after Midian.이스라엘 사람들이 납달리와 아셀과 온 므낫세에서 모여 미디안을 추격하였다.
24 Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “ Come down against Midian and take the waters before them as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan!” So all the men of Ephraim were gathered together and took the waters as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan.And Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill-country of Ephraim, saying, Come down against Midian, and take before them the waters, as far as Beth-barah, even the Jordan. 25 They took the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at Oreb’s rock, and Zeeb they killed at Zeeb’s wine press, as they pursued Midian.
