1 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.그때 여리고는 이스라엘 자손 때문에 굳게 닫혀 있었다. 아무도 나가지 못하고 아무도 들어오지 못했다.
2 Yahweh said to Joshua, “ Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.And Jehovah said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 내가 여리고와 그 왕과 용맹한 용사들을 네 손에 넘겨주었다.
3 All of your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.너희 군사들은 모두 그 성을 한 바퀴 돌아라. 엿새 동안 이렇게 하여라.
4 Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.제사장 일곱 명은 숫양 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 들고 궤 앞에서 나아가라. 이렛날에는 그 성을 일곱 번 돌고, 제사장들은 나팔을 불어라.
5 It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the city wall will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”And it shall be, that, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.숫양 뿔 나팔을 길게 불어 너희가 그 나팔 소리를 듣거든, 온 백성이 큰 소리로 외쳐라. 그러면 성벽이 무너져 내릴 것이니, 백성은 저마다 앞으로 곧장 올라가거라."
6 Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “ Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh’s ark.”And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Jehovah.눈의 아들 여호수아가 제사장들을 불러 말하였다. "언약궤를 메고, 제사장 일곱 명은 숫양 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 들고 여호와의 궤 앞에서 나아가라."
7 They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”And they said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let the armed men pass on before the ark of Jehovah.그들은 백성에게 말하였다. "나아가라! 성을 돌되, 무장한 군사들은 여호와의 궤 앞에서 나아가라."
8 It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of Yahweh’s covenant followed them.And it was so, that, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Jehovah passed on, and blew the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah followed them.여호수아가 백성에게 말한 대로 되었다. 숫양 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 든 제사장 일곱 명이 여호와 앞에서 나아가며 나팔을 불었고, 여호와의 언약궤가 그들을 뒤따랐다.
9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.And the armed men went before the priests that blew the trumpets, and the rearward went after the ark, the priests blowing the trumpets as they went.무장한 군사들은 나팔 부는 제사장들 앞에서 나아갔고, 궤는 그 뒤를 따라갔다. 그들이 나아가는 동안 나팔 소리가 울려 퍼졌다.
10 Joshua commanded the people, saying, “ You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”And Joshua commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.여호수아가 백성에게 명령하였다. "내가 너희에게 외치라고 말하는 그날까지, 너희는 외치지 말고 너희 목소리를 내지 말며 입에서 한마디도 내지 마라. 그날에 너희는 외쳐라."
11 So he caused Yahweh’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.So he caused the ark of Jehovah to compass the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.그래서 그는 여호와의 궤를 성 둘레로 한 바퀴 돌게 하였다. 그런 뒤 그들은 진영으로 돌아와 진영에서 묵었다.
12 Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up Yahweh’s ark.And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Jehovah.여호수아가 아침 일찍 일어나니, 제사장들이 여호와의 궤를 메었다.
13 The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of Yahweh’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after Yahweh’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.And the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Jehovah went on continually, and blew the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; and the rearward came after the ark of Jehovah, the priests blowing the trumpets as they went.숫양 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 든 제사장 일곱 명이 여호와의 궤 앞에서 계속 나아가며 나팔을 불었고, 무장한 군사들은 그들 앞에서 나아갔다. 후위 부대는 여호와의 궤 뒤를 따랐다. 그들이 나아가는 동안 나팔 소리가 울려 퍼졌다.
14 The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.둘째 날에도 그들은 성을 한 바퀴 돌고 진영으로 돌아왔다. 그들은 엿새 동안 이렇게 하였다.
15 On the seventh day, they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. On this day only they marched around the city seven times.And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early at the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.이렛날이 되자 그들은 동틀 무렵에 일찍 일어나, 같은 방식으로 성을 일곱 번 돌았다. 오직 이날만은 성을 일곱 번 돌았다.
16 At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “ Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for Jehovah hath given you the city.일곱 번째에 이르러 제사장들이 나팔을 불자, 여호수아가 백성에게 말하였다. "외쳐라! 여호와께서 이 성을 너희에게 주셨다!
17 The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.And the city shall be devoted, even it and all that is therein, to Jehovah: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.이 성과 그 안에 있는 모든 것은 여호와께 바쳐진 것이니 진멸하여라. 오직 기생 라합과 그 집에 함께 있는 모든 사람은 살려 두어라. 그녀가 우리가 보낸 정탐꾼들을 숨겨 주었기 때문이다.
18 But as for you, only keep yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so you would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it.But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when ye have devoted it, ye take of the devoted thing; so would ye make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.그러나 너희는 바쳐진 것을 멀리하여라. 너희가 그것을 바치고도 바쳐진 것을 취하면, 이스라엘 진영을 저주받게 하고 화를 입히게 될 것이다.
19 But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy unto Jehovah: they shall come into the treasury of Jehovah.그러나 은과 금과 놋과 철로 만든 모든 그릇은 여호와께 거룩한 것이니, 여호와의 곳간으로 들여야 한다."
20 So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.So the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.그래서 백성이 외쳤고 제사장들이 나팔을 불었다. 백성이 나팔 소리를 듣고 큰 소리로 외치자 성벽이 무너져 내렸고, 백성은 저마다 앞으로 곧장 성으로 올라가 그 성을 점령하였다.
21 They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.그들은 성 안에 있는 모든 것을, 남자와 여자, 젊은이와 늙은이, 소와 양과 나귀까지 칼날로 완전히 진멸하였다.
22 Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “ Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”And Joshua said unto the two men that had spied out the land, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.여호수아가 그 땅을 정탐했던 두 사람에게 말하였다. "그 기생의 집으로 들어가, 너희가 그녀에게 맹세한 대로 그 여인과 그녀에게 속한 모든 사람을 데리고 나오너라."
23 The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all of her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.And the young men the spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; all her kindred also they brought out; and they set them without the camp of Israel.정탐꾼이었던 젊은이들이 들어가, 라합과 그녀의 아버지와 어머니와 형제들과 그녀에게 속한 모든 사람을 데리고 나왔다. 또 그녀의 모든 친족도 데리고 나와 이스라엘 진영 밖에 두었다.
24 They burned the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron into the treasury of Yahweh’s house.And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein; only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of Jehovah.그들은 그 성과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 불로 태웠다. 오직 은과 금과 놋과 철로 만든 그릇만은 여호와의 집 곳간에 넣어 두었다.
25 But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lives in the middle of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.But Rahab the harlot, and her father’s household, and all that she had, did Joshua save alive; and she dwelt in the midst of Israel unto this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.그러나 기생 라합과 그녀의 아버지 집안과 그녀에게 속한 모든 사람은 여호수아가 살려 두었다. 그래서 그녀는 오늘날까지 이스라엘 가운데 살고 있다. 여호수아가 여리고를 정탐하라고 보낸 정탐꾼들을 그녀가 숨겨 주었기 때문이다.
26 Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”And Joshua charged them with an oath at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Jehovah, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: with the loss of his first-born shall he lay the foundation thereof, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.그때 여호수아가 그들에게 맹세하게 하며 말하였다. "이 여리고 성을 다시 세우려고 일어나는 사람은 여호와 앞에서 저주를 받을 것이다. 그가 그 기초를 놓을 때에 맏아들을 잃을 것이요, 그 성문을 세울 때에 막내아들을 잃을 것이다."
27 So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.So Jehovah was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.이렇게 여호와께서 여호수아와 함께 계셨고, 그의 명성이 온 땅에 퍼졌다.
