1 Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “ Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men as spies secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and Jericho. 2 The king of Jericho was told, “ Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to-night of the children of Israel to search out the land.그때 누군가 여리고 왕에게 알렸습니다. 3 Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “ Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, that are entered into thy house; for they are come to search out all the land.여리고 왕이 라합에게 사람을 보내어 말했습니다. 4 The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “ Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.And the woman took the two men, and hid them; and she said, Yea, the men came unto me, but I knew not whence they were:그러나 그 여인은 두 사람을 데려다 숨기고서 이렇게 말했습니다. "그렇습니다, 그 사람들이 제게 오기는 했으나, 저는 그들이 어디서 왔는지 알지 못했습니다.
5 About the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out. Where the men went, I don’t know. Pursue them quickly. You may catch up with them.”and it came to pass about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out; whither the men went I know not: pursue after them quickly; for ye will overtake them.날이 어두워져 성문을 닫을 무렵에 그 사람들이 나갔는데, 어디로 갔는지는 제가 알지 못합니다. 어서 그들을 뒤쫓으십시오. 그러면 따라잡을 수 있을 것입니다."
6 But she had brought them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.그러나 그 여인은 이미 그들을 지붕 위로 데리고 올라가, 지붕에 펴 두었던 삼대 더미 속에 숨겨 두었습니다.
7 The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.And the men pursued after them the way to the Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they that pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.그 사람들은 요단 강 나루터로 가는 길을 따라 정탐꾼들을 뒤쫓아 갔고, 뒤쫓는 자들이 나가자마자 성문은 닫혔습니다.
8 Before they had lain down, she came up to them on the roof.And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;정탐꾼들이 눕기 전에 라합이 지붕 위로 그들에게 올라와
9 She said to the men, “ I know that Yahweh has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.and she said unto the men, I know that Jehovah hath given you the land, and that the fear of you is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.그들에게 말했습니다. 10 For we have heard how Yahweh dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.For we have heard how Jehovah dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond the Jordan, unto Sihon and to Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.당신들이 이집트에서 나올 때에 여호와께서 당신들 앞에서 홍해 물을 마르게 하신 일과, 요단 강 건너편에 있던 아모리 사람의 두 왕 시혼과 옥을 당신들이 진멸한 일을 우리가 들었기 때문입니다.
11 As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there wasn’t any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.And as soon as we had heard it, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Jehovah your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.우리가 그 일을 듣자마자 우리 마음이 녹아내렸고, 당신들 때문에 누구에게도 더는 기력이 남아 있지 않았습니다. 당신들의 하나님 여호와, 그분은 위로 하늘에서나 아래로 땅에서나 하나님이십니다.
12 Now therefore, please swear to me by Yahweh, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign;Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you, that ye also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true token;그러니 이제 부탁드립니다. 내가 당신들에게 친절을 베풀었으니, 당신들도 내 아버지의 집에 친절을 베풀겠다고 여호와의 이름으로 내게 맹세하고, 확실한 표를 주십시오.
13 and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”and that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.그리고 내 아버지와 어머니와 형제들과 자매들과 그들에게 딸린 모든 사람을 살려 주고, 우리 목숨을 죽음에서 건져 주십시오."
14 The men said to her, “ Our life for yours, if you don’t talk about this business of ours; and it shall be, when Yahweh gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”And the men said unto her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business; and it shall be, when Jehovah giveth us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.그 사람들이 그 여인에게 말했습니다. "당신들이 우리의 이 일을 발설하지 않는다면, 우리 목숨을 걸고 당신들의 목숨을 지키겠소. 여호와께서 우리에게 이 땅을 주실 때에, 우리가 당신에게 친절과 진실로 대하겠소."
15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall.Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the side of the wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.그리하여 라합이 줄을 매어 창문으로 그들을 내려보냈습니다. 그 여인의 집이 성벽 위에 있어서, 그가 성벽 위에서 살고 있었기 때문입니다.
16 She said to them, “ Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers light upon you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.라합이 그들에게 말했습니다. 17 The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you’ve made us to swear.And the men said unto her, We will be guiltless of this thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.그 사람들이 그 여인에게 말했습니다. "당신이 우리에게 맹세하게 한 이 맹세에 대해 우리는 책임이 없을 것이오.
18 Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt gather unto thee into the house thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household.보시오, 우리가 이 땅에 들어올 때, 당신이 우리를 내려보낸 이 창문에 이 붉은 줄을 매어 두시오. 그리고 당신의 아버지와 어머니와 형제들과 당신 아버지의 온 집안을 당신에게로, 곧 이 집 안으로 모으시오.
19 It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him.And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we shall be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.누구든지 당신 집 문 밖으로 거리에 나가는 사람은 그 피가 자기 머리로 돌아갈 것이며, 우리는 책임이 없소. 그러나 당신과 함께 집 안에 있는 사람이라면, 누군가 그에게 손을 댈 경우 그 피는 우리 머리로 돌아갈 것이오.
20 But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you’ve made us to swear.”But if thou utter this our business, then we shall be guiltless of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.그러나 당신이 우리의 이 일을 발설한다면, 당신이 우리에게 맹세하게 한 그 맹세에 대해 우리는 책임이 없을 것이오."
21 She said, “ Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet line in the window.And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.라합이 말했습니다. "당신들의 말씀대로 그렇게 하겠습니다." 그러고는 그들을 보내니 그들이 떠나갔고, 라합은 그 붉은 줄을 창문에 매어 두었습니다.
22 They went and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but didn’t find them.And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.그들은 가서 산에 이르러 거기서 사흘 동안 머물렀고, 뒤쫓던 자들이 돌아갈 때까지 있었습니다. 뒤쫓던 자들이 온 길을 두루 찾았으나 그들을 찾지 못했습니다.
23 Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. They told him all that had happened to them.Then the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun; and they told him all that had befallen them.그러자 그 두 사람이 돌아와 산에서 내려와 강을 건너, 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 와서 자기들에게 일어난 모든 일을 그에게 이야기했습니다.
24 They said to Joshua, “ Truly Yahweh has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”And they said unto Joshua, Truly Jehovah hath delivered into our hands all the land; and moreover all the inhabitants of the land do melt away before us.그들이 여호수아에게 말했습니다. "참으로 여호와께서 그 온 땅을 우리 손에 넘겨주셨습니다. 또한 그 땅의 모든 주민이 우리 앞에서 간담이 녹아내리고 있습니다."
