1 Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed. Take all the warriors with you, and arise, go up to Ai. Behold, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, with his people, his city, and his land.And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai; see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land;여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "두려워하지 말고 놀라지도 마라. 모든 군사를 데리고 일어나 아이로 올라가라. 보아라, 내가 아이 왕과 그의 백성과 그의 성읍과 그의 땅을 네 손에 넘겨주었다.
2 You shall do to Ai and her king as you did to Jericho and her king, except you shall take its goods and its livestock for yourselves. Set an ambush for the city behind it.”and thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: set thee an ambush for the city behind it.너는 여리고와 그 왕에게 한 것처럼 아이와 그 왕에게 행하여라. 다만 그 노략물과 가축은 너희가 전리품으로 차지하여라. 그 성읍 뒤에 군사를 매복시켜라."
3 So Joshua arose, with all the warriors, to go up to Ai. Joshua chose thirty thousand men, the mighty men of valor, and sent them out by night.So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up to Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand men, the mighty men of valor, and sent them forth by night.그래서 여호수아는 모든 군사와 함께 일어나 아이로 올라가려 했다. 여호수아는 용맹한 용사 삼만 명을 뽑아 밤에 내보내며
4 He commanded them, saying, “ Behold, you shall lie in ambush against the city, behind the city. Don’t go very far from the city, but all of you be ready.And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in ambush against the city, behind the city; go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:그들에게 명령했다. "보아라, 너희는 성읍을 향해 그 뒤편에 매복하여라. 성읍에서 너무 멀리 떨어지지 말고 모두 준비하고 있어라.
5 I and all the people who are with me will approach the city. It shall happen, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them.and I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city. And it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them;나와 나와 함께 있는 모든 백성은 성읍으로 다가갈 것이다. 그들이 처음처럼 우리를 치러 나오면 우리는 그들 앞에서 도망할 것이다.
6 They will come out after us until we have drawn them away from the city; for they will say, ‘ They flee before us, like the first time.’ So we will flee before them,and they will come out after us, till we have drawn them away from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: so we will flee before them;그러면 그들이 '저들이 처음처럼 우리 앞에서 도망한다'고 말하며 우리를 뒤쫓아 나올 것이니, 우리가 그들을 성읍에서 멀리 끌어낼 때까지 그들 앞에서 도망할 것이다.
7 and you shall rise up from the ambush, and take possession of the city; for Yahweh your God will deliver it into your hand.and ye shall rise up from the ambush, and take possession of the city: for Jehovah your God will deliver it into your hand.그때 너희는 매복한 곳에서 일어나 그 성읍을 점령하여라. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 그것을 너희 손에 넘겨주실 것이다.
8 It shall be, when you have seized the city, that you shall set the city on fire. You shall do this according to Yahweh’s word. Behold, I have commanded you.”And it shall be, when ye have seized upon the city, that ye shall set the city on fire; according to the word of Jehovah shall ye do: see, I have commanded you.너희가 성읍을 차지하거든 그 성읍에 불을 질러라. 여호와의 말씀대로 행하여라. 보아라, 내가 너희에게 명령하였다."
9 Joshua sent them out; and they went to set up the ambush, and stayed between Bethel and Ai on the west side of Ai; but Joshua stayed among the people that night.And Joshua sent them forth; and they went to the ambushment, and abode between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.여호수아가 그들을 내보내니, 그들은 매복하러 가서 벧엘과 아이 사이, 아이 서쪽에 머물렀다. 그러나 여호수아는 그날 밤 백성 가운데 머물렀다.

16 All the people who were in the city were called together to pursue after them. 17 There was not a man left in Ai or Bethel who didn’t go out after Israel. They left the city open, and pursued Israel.And there was not a man left in Ai or Beth-el, that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued after Israel.아이와 벧엘에는 이스라엘을 뒤쫓아 나가지 않은 사람이 한 명도 없었다. 그들은 성읍을 열어 둔 채 이스라엘을 뒤쫓았다.
18 Yahweh said to Joshua, “ Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.” Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Stretch out the javelin that is in thy hand toward Ai; for I will give it into thy hand. And Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "네 손에 있는 단창을 아이를 향해 내밀어라. 내가 그것을 네 손에 넘겨주겠다." 여호수아가 손에 든 단창을 성읍을 향해 내밀었다.
19 The ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand and entered into the city and took it. They hurried and set the city on fire.And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand, and entered into the city, and took it; and they hasted and set the city on fire.매복했던 자들이 재빨리 자기 자리에서 일어나, 그가 손을 내밀자마자 달려 들어가 성읍을 점령하고 서둘러 불을 질렀다.
20 When the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way. 21 When Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned back and killed the men of Ai.And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and slew the men of Ai.여호수아와 온 이스라엘은 매복했던 자들이 성읍을 점령하고 성읍에서 연기가 치솟는 것을 보고 돌이켜 아이 사람들을 쳤다.
22 The others came out of the city against them, so they were in the middle of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side. 23 They captured the king of Ai alive, and brought him to Joshua.And the king of Ai they took alive, and brought him to Joshua.그들은 아이 왕을 사로잡아 여호수아에게 데려왔다.
24 When Israel had finished killing all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness in which they pursued them, and they had all fallen by the edge of the sword until they were consumed, all Israel returned to Ai and struck it with the edge of the sword.And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they pursued them, and they were all fallen by the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all Israel returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.이스라엘이 자기들을 뒤쫓던 들과 광야에서 아이 주민을 다 죽이고, 그들이 모두 칼날에 쓰러져 진멸되자, 온 이스라엘은 아이로 돌아와 그곳을 칼날로 쳤다.
25 All that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelve thousand, even all the people of Ai.And all that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelve thousand, even all the men of Ai.그날 쓰러진 자가 남자와 여자 합하여 만 이천 명이었으니, 곧 아이 사람 전부였다.
26 For Joshua didn’t draw back his hand, with which he stretched out the javelin, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.For Joshua drew not back his hand, wherewith he stretched out the javelin, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.여호수아는 아이의 모든 주민을 진멸하기까지 단창을 내민 손을 거두지 않았다.
27 Israel took for themselves only the livestock and the goods of that city, according to Yahweh’s word which he commanded Joshua.Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took for prey unto themselves, according unto the word of Jehovah which he commanded Joshua.다만 그 성읍의 가축과 노략물은 여호와께서 여호수아에게 명령하신 말씀대로 이스라엘이 전리품으로 차지했다.
28 So Joshua burned Ai and made it a heap forever, even a desolation, to this day.So Joshua burnt Ai, and made it a heap for ever, even a desolation, unto this day.그래서 여호수아는 아이를 불사르고 영원한 폐허, 곧 황무지로 만들었으니, 오늘까지 그러하다.
29 He hanged the king of Ai on a tree until the evening. At sundown, Joshua commanded, and they took his body down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the gate of the city, and raised a great heap of stones on it that remains to this day.And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until the eventide: and at the going down of the sun Joshua commanded, and they took his body down from the tree, and cast it at the entrance of the gate of the city, and raised thereon a great heap of stones, unto this day.그는 아이 왕을 저녁까지 나무에 매달았다가, 해 질 무렵 여호수아가 명령하여 그 시체를 나무에서 내려 성문 어귀에 던지고, 그 위에 큰 돌무더기를 쌓았으니, 오늘까지 그대로 있다.
30 Then Joshua built an altar to Yahweh, the God of Israel, on Mount Ebal,Then Joshua built an altar unto Jehovah, the God of Israel, in mount Ebal,그때 여호수아가 에발 산에 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 제단을 쌓았다.
31 as Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses: an altar of uncut stones, on which no one had lifted up any iron. They offered burnt offerings on it to Yahweh and sacrificed peace offerings.as Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of unhewn stones, upon which no man had lifted up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt-offerings unto Jehovah, and sacrificed peace-offerings.이는 여호와의 종 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 명령한 대로요, 모세의 율법책에 기록된 대로니, 다듬지 않은 돌로 쌓은 제단이며 아무도 그 위에 쇠 연장을 대지 않은 것이었다. 그들은 그 위에서 여호와께 번제를 드리고 화목제를 바쳤다.
32 He wrote there on the stones a copy of Moses’ law, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote, in the presence of the children of Israel.여호수아는 거기서 모세가 기록한 율법의 사본을 돌 위에 이스라엘 자손이 보는 앞에서 기록했다.
33 All Israel, with their elders, officers, and judges, stood on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests, who carried the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, the foreigner as well as the native; half of them in front of Mount Gerizim, and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of Yahweh had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Israel.And all Israel, and their elders and officers, and their judges, stood on this side of the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, as well the sojourner as the home-born; half of them in front of mount Gerizim, and half of them in front of mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Israel.온 이스라엘과 그들의 장로들과 관리들과 재판관들이, 본토인이든 이방 사람이든, 여호와의 언약궤를 멘 레위 사람 제사장들 앞에서 궤 이쪽과 저쪽에 섰다. 절반은 그리심 산 앞에, 절반은 에발 산 앞에 섰으니, 이는 여호와의 종 모세가 처음에 명령한 대로 이스라엘 백성을 축복하기 위함이었다.

35 There was not a word of all that Moses commanded which Joshua didn’t read before all the assembly of Israel, with the women, the little ones, and the foreigners who were among them.There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the assembly of Israel, and the women, and the little ones, and the sojourners that were among them.모세가 명령한 모든 말씀 가운데, 여호수아가 여인들과 아이들과 그들 가운데 있는 이방 사람을 포함한 이스라엘의 온 회중 앞에서 낭독하지 않은 말씀이 하나도 없었다.
