1 When all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,And it came to pass, when all the nation were clean passed over the Jordan, that Jehovah spake unto Joshua, saying,온 백성이 요단강을 다 건너자, 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨습니다.
2 “ Take twelve men out of the people, a man out of every tribe,Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,"백성 가운데서 각 지파마다 한 사람씩 열두 사람을 뽑아라.
3 and command them, saying, ‘ Take from out of the middle of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, carry them over with you, and lay them down in the place where you’ll camp tonight.’”and command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place, where ye shall lodge this night.그리고 그들에게 명령하여라. '요단강 한가운데, 제사장들의 발이 굳게 섰던 그곳에서 돌 열두 개를 가져다가 너희와 함께 메고 건너가, 오늘 밤 너희가 묵을 그 숙소에 내려놓아라.'"
4 Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, a man out of every tribe.Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:그러자 여호수아는 이스라엘 자손 가운데서 각 지파마다 한 사람씩 미리 세워 둔 열두 사람을 불렀습니다.
5 Joshua said to them, “ Cross before the ark of Yahweh your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you pick up a stone and put it on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;and Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of Jehovah your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;여호수아가 그들에게 말했습니다. "너희 하나님 여호와의 궤 앞에서 요단강 한가운데로 건너가, 이스라엘 자손의 지파 수대로 각자 돌 하나씩을 어깨에 메어라.
6 that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in the future, saying, ‘ What do you mean by these stones?’that this may be a sign among you, that, when your children ask in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?이것이 너희 가운데 표징이 될 것이다. 훗날 너희 자녀들이 '이 돌들은 무슨 뜻입니까?' 하고 물으면,
7 then you shall tell them, ‘ Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant. When it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.’”then ye shall say unto them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.너희는 그들에게 이렇게 일러 주어라. '여호와의 언약궤 앞에서 요단강 물이 끊겼고, 언약궤가 요단강을 건널 때에 요단강 물이 끊겼다. 그래서 이 돌들이 이스라엘 자손에게 영원한 기념물이 되었다.'"
8 The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. They carried them over with them to the place where they camped, and laid them down there.And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.이스라엘 자손은 여호수아가 명령한 대로 행했습니다. 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하신 대로, 이스라엘 자손의 지파 수대로 요단강 한가운데서 돌 열두 개를 가져다가 자기들과 함께 메고 건너가, 그들이 묵을 곳에 내려놓았습니다.
9 Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests that bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.여호수아는 또 요단강 한가운데, 곧 언약궤를 멘 제사장들의 발이 섰던 그곳에 돌 열두 개를 세웠는데, 그것이 오늘날까지 거기에 있습니다.
10 For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was finished that Yahweh commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and passed over.For the priests that bare the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Jehovah commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.궤를 멘 제사장들은 여호와께서 여호수아에게 백성에게 전하라고 명령하신 모든 일이 다 이루어질 때까지 요단강 한가운데 서 있었으니, 이는 모세가 여호수아에게 명령한 그대로였습니다. 그동안 백성은 서둘러 강을 건넜습니다.
11 When all the people had completely crossed over, Yahweh’s ark crossed over with the priests in the presence of the people.And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of Jehovah passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.모든 백성이 다 건너자, 여호와의 궤가 제사장들과 함께 백성이 보는 앞에서 건너왔습니다.
12 The children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파는 모세가 그들에게 말한 대로 이스라엘 자손보다 앞서서 무장한 채 건넜습니다.
13 About forty thousand men, ready and armed for war, passed over before Yahweh to battle, to the plains of Jericho.about forty thousand ready armed for war passed over before Jehovah unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.전쟁을 위해 채비하고 무장한 사람이 사만 명쯤 여호와 앞에서 건너가, 여리고 평야로 싸우러 나아갔습니다.
14 On that day, Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.On that day Jehovah magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.그날 여호와께서 온 이스라엘이 보는 앞에서 여호수아를 높이셨으므로, 백성은 모세를 두려워하였던 것처럼 여호수아를 그의 평생 동안 두려워하였습니다.
15 Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,And Jehovah spake unto Joshua, saying,여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨습니다.
16 “ Command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, that they come up out of the Jordan.”Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan."증거궤를 멘 제사장들에게 명령하여 요단강에서 올라오게 하여라."
17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, “ Come up out of the Jordan!”Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of the Jordan.그래서 여호수아는 제사장들에게 명령하였습니다. "요단강에서 올라오라!"
18 When the priests who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant had come up out of the middle of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet had been lifted up to the dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and went over all its banks, as before.And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah were come up out of the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up unto the dry ground, that the waters of the Jordan returned unto their place, and went over all its banks, as aforetime.여호와의 언약궤를 멘 제사장들이 요단강 한가운데서 올라와 그들의 발바닥이 마른 땅에 닿자마자, 요단강 물이 본래의 자리로 돌아와 전과 같이 강둑마다 넘쳐흘렀습니다.
19 The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.백성은 첫째 달 십 일에 요단강에서 올라와 여리고 동쪽 경계에 있는 길갈에 진을 쳤습니다.
20 Joshua set up those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, in Gilgal.And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.여호수아는 그들이 요단강에서 가져온 그 돌 열두 개를 길갈에 세웠습니다.
21 He spoke to the children of Israel, saying, “ When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘ What do these stones mean?’And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?그리고 이스라엘 자손에게 말했습니다. "훗날 너희 자녀들이 자기 아버지에게 '이 돌들은 무슨 뜻입니까?' 하고 물으면,
22 Then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘ Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.너희는 자녀들에게 이렇게 알려 주어라. '이스라엘이 이 요단강을 마른 땅으로 건넜다.
23 For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you until you had crossed over, as Yahweh your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had crossed over,For Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over;너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희가 건널 때까지 너희 앞에서 요단강 물을 마르게 하셨으니, 이는 너희 하나님 여호와께서 우리가 건널 때까지 우리 앞에서 마르게 하셨던 홍해에 행하신 것과 같다.
24 that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh’s hand is mighty, and that you may fear Yahweh your God forever.’”that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye may fear Jehovah your God for ever.이는 땅의 모든 백성으로 하여금 여호와의 손이 강하심을 알게 하시고, 너희로 하여금 너희 하나님 여호와를 영원토록 경외하게 하시려는 것이다.'"
