1 Now when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them,Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it ( as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king ), and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱은 여호수아가 아이 성을 점령하여 완전히 멸하였고, 여리고와 그 왕에게 한 것처럼 아이와 그 왕에게도 똑같이 한 일과, 또 기브온 주민이 이스라엘과 화친하여 그들 가운데 머물게 된 일을 들었다.

3 Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,그래서 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱은 헤브론 왕 호함과 야르뭇 왕 비람과 라기스 왕 야비아와 에글론 왕 드빌에게 사람을 보내어 말하였다.
4 “ Come up to me and help me. Let’s strike Gibeon; for they have made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”Come up unto me, and help me, and let us smite Gibeon; for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel."내게로 올라와 나를 도우라. 우리가 기브온을 치자. 그곳이 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손과 화친하였기 때문이다."
5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together and went up, they and all their armies, and encamped against Gibeon, and made war against it.Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped against Gibeon, and made war against it.그리하여 아모리 사람의 다섯 왕, 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕이 함께 모여, 그들과 그들의 모든 군대가 올라와 기브온을 마주하여 진을 치고 그곳을 공격하였다.
6 The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill-country are gathered together against us.기브온 사람들이 길갈 진영에 있는 여호수아에게 사람을 보내어 말하였다. "당신의 종들을 버리지 마십시오. 속히 우리에게 올라와 우리를 구원하고 도우십시오. 산지에 사는 아모리 사람의 모든 왕이 우리를 치려고 함께 모였습니다."
7 So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and the whole army with him, including all the mighty men of valor.So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.그래서 여호수아는 모든 군사와 모든 용사를 거느리고 길갈에서 올라갔다.
8 Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.”And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thy hands; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "그들을 두려워하지 말라. 내가 그들을 네 손에 넘겨주었으니, 그들 가운데 한 사람도 네 앞에 서지 못할 것이다."
9 Joshua therefore came to them suddenly. He marched from Gilgal all night.Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly; for he went up from Gilgal all the night.여호수아는 길갈에서 밤새 올라가 갑자기 그들을 덮쳤다.
10 Yahweh confused them before Israel. He killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.And Jehovah discomfited them before Israel, and he slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.여호와께서 이스라엘 앞에서 그들을 혼란에 빠뜨리셨고, 여호수아는 기브온에서 그들을 크게 무찔러 죽였으며, 벧호론으로 올라가는 길을 따라 그들을 쫓아 아세가와 막게다까지 쳐서 죽였다.
11 As they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, Yahweh hurled down great stones from the sky on them to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than those whom the children of Israel killed with the sword.And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon, that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more who died with the hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.그들이 이스라엘 앞에서 도망하여 벧호론 비탈을 내려갈 때에, 여호와께서 아세가에 이르기까지 하늘에서 큰 우박덩이를 그들 위에 내리시니 그들이 죽었다. 우박에 죽은 사람이 이스라엘 자손이 칼로 죽인 사람보다 더 많았다.
12 Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel. He said in the sight of Israel, “ Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”Then spake Joshua to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; And thou, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon.여호와께서 아모리 사람을 이스라엘 자손 앞에 넘겨주시던 날, 여호수아가 이스라엘이 보는 앞에서 여호와께 아뢰어 말하였다. "해야, 기브온 위에 멈추어라. 달아, 너도 아얄론 골짜기에 멈추어라."
13 The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, Until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stayed in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.백성이 그 원수에게 원수를 갚을 때까지 해가 멈추고 달이 그대로 머물렀다. 이 일은 야살의 책에 기록되어 있지 않은가? 해가 중천에 머물러 거의 온종일 지기를 서두르지 않았다.
14 There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.And there was no day like that before it or after it, that Jehovah hearkened unto the voice of a man: for Jehovah fought for Israel.여호와께서 사람의 목소리를 들으신 이런 날은 그 전에도 후에도 없었다. 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨기 때문이다.
15 Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.그 후 여호수아는 온 이스라엘과 함께 길갈 진영으로 돌아왔다.
16 These five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.그 다섯 왕은 도망하여 막게다의 굴에 숨었다.
17 Joshua was told, saying, “ The five kings have been found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.”And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.누군가 여호수아에게 알렸다. "그 다섯 왕이 막게다 굴에 숨어 있는 것을 찾았습니다."
18 Joshua said, “ Roll large stones to cover the cave’s entrance, and set men by it to guard them;And Joshua said, Roll great stones unto the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to keep them:여호수아가 말하였다. "큰 돌들을 굴려 굴 입구를 막고, 사람들을 세워 그들을 지키게 하라.
19 but don’t stay there. Pursue your enemies, and attack them from the rear. Don’t allow them to enter into their cities; for Yahweh your God has delivered them into your hand.”but stay not ye; pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for Jehovah your God hath delivered them into your hand.그러나 너희는 멈추지 말라. 너희 원수를 추격하여 그 뒤를 쳐라. 그들이 자기 성읍에 들어가지 못하게 하라. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 너희 손에 넘겨주셨다."
20 When Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,여호수아와 이스라엘 자손이 그들을 크게 무찔러 거의 진멸하기까지 죽이고, 살아남은 사람들이 견고한 성읍으로 들어간 뒤에,
21 all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. None moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.모든 백성이 막게다에 있는 여호수아에게로 평안히 돌아왔다. 이스라엘 자손을 향하여 혀를 놀리는 사람이 하나도 없었다.
22 Then Joshua said, “ Open the cave entrance, and bring those five kings out of the cave to me.”Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forth those five kings unto me out of the cave.그때 여호수아가 말하였다. "굴 입구를 열고 저 다섯 왕을 굴에서 내게로 끌어내라."
23 They did so, and brought those five kings out of the cave to him: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.그들이 그대로 하여 그 다섯 왕, 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕을 굴에서 그에게로 끌어내었다.
24 When they brought those kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, “ Come near. Put your feet on the necks of these kings.” They came near, and put their feet on their necks.And it came to pass, when they brought forth those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the chiefs of the men of war that went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.그 왕들을 여호수아에게 끌어냈을 때, 여호수아가 이스라엘의 모든 사람을 불러, 자기와 함께 갔던 군대 지휘관들에게 말하였다. "가까이 와서 이 왕들의 목을 발로 밟으라." 그들이 가까이 와서 그 목을 발로 밟았다.
25 Joshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and courageous, for Yahweh will do this to all your enemies against whom you fight.”And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage: for thus shall Jehovah do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.여호수아가 그들에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 말고 놀라지 말라. 강하고 담대하라. 여호와께서 너희가 맞서 싸우는 모든 원수에게 이와 같이 하실 것이다."
26 Afterward Joshua struck them, put them to death, and hanged them on five trees. They were hanging on the trees until the evening.And afterward Joshua smote them, and put them to death, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.그 후에 여호수아가 그들을 쳐서 죽이고 다섯 나무에 매달았다. 그들은 저녁까지 나무에 매달려 있었다.
27 At the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and threw them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, unto this very day.해 질 무렵에 여호수아가 명령하여, 그들을 나무에서 내려 그들이 숨었던 굴에 던져 넣고, 굴 입구에 큰 돌들을 놓았는데, 그것이 오늘날까지 그대로 있다.
28 Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed it and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.And Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof: he utterly destroyed them and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining; and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done unto the king of Jericho.여호수아가 그날 막게다를 점령하고 칼날로 그곳과 그 왕을 쳤다. 그는 그곳과 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 완전히 멸하여 한 사람도 남기지 않았으며, 여리고 왕에게 한 것처럼 막게다 왕에게도 똑같이 하였다.
29 Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.And Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 막게다에서 립나로 나아가 립나와 싸웠다.
30 Yahweh delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.and Jehovah delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining in it; and he did unto the king thereof as he had done unto the king of Jericho.여호와께서 그곳과 그 왕도 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주셨다. 여호수아가 칼날로 그곳과 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 않았으며, 여리고 왕에게 한 것처럼 그 왕에게도 똑같이 하였다.
31 Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 립나에서 라기스로 나아가, 그곳을 마주하여 진을 치고 싸웠다.
32 Yahweh delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.and Jehovah delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel; and he took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.여호와께서 라기스를 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주셨고, 여호수아가 이튿날 그곳을 점령하여 립나에 한 것과 똑같이 칼날로 그곳과 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 쳤다.
33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him no one remaining.Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.그때 게셀 왕 호람이 라기스를 도우려고 올라왔으나, 여호수아가 그와 그 백성을 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 않았다.
34 Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they encamped against it and fought against it.And Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, unto Eglon; and they encamped against it, and fought against it;여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 라기스에서 에글론으로 나아가, 그곳을 마주하여 진을 치고 싸웠다.
35 They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.and they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword; and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.그날 그들이 그곳을 점령하고 칼날로 쳤으며, 라기스에 한 것과 똑같이 그날 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 완전히 멸하였다.
36 Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 에글론에서 헤브론으로 올라가 그곳과 싸웠다.
37 They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.and they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls that were therein.그들이 그곳을 점령하여 칼날로 그곳과 그 왕과 그에 딸린 모든 성읍과 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 쳤다. 에글론에 한 것과 똑같이 한 사람도 남기지 않았으며, 그곳과 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 완전히 멸하였다.
38 Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it:여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 드빌로 돌아가 그곳과 싸웠다.
39 He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.and he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to the king thereof.그가 그곳과 그 왕과 그에 딸린 모든 성읍을 점령하였다. 그들이 칼날로 그것들을 치고 그 안에 있는 모든 사람을 완전히 멸하여 한 사람도 남기지 않았다. 헤브론에 한 것처럼 드빌과 그 왕에게도, 또 립나와 그 왕에게 한 것처럼 똑같이 하였다.
40 So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, the South, the lowland, the slopes, and all their kings. He left no one remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, commanded.So Joshua smote all the land, the hill-country, and the South, and the lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, commanded.이렇게 여호수아가 온 땅, 곧 산지와 남방과 평지와 비탈과 그 모든 왕을 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 않고, 숨 쉬는 모든 것을 완전히 멸하였다. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 명하신 대로였다.
41 Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea even to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon.And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.여호수아는 가데스바네아에서 가사까지, 또 고센 온 땅에서 기브온까지 그들을 쳤다.
42 Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because Jehovah, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.여호수아가 이 모든 왕과 그들의 땅을 한 번에 점령하였다. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨기 때문이다.
43 Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.그 후 여호수아는 온 이스라엘과 함께 길갈 진영으로 돌아왔다.
