1 When Yahweh was about to take Elijah up by a whirlwind into heaven, Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.And it came to pass, when Jehovah would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.여호와께서 회오리바람으로 엘리야를 하늘로 데려가시려 할 때, 엘리야는 엘리사와 함께 길갈을 떠나 길을 가고 있었다.
2 Elijah said to Elisha, “ Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “ As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for Jehovah hath sent me as far as Beth-el. And Elisha said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.엘리야가 엘리사에게 말했다. "여기 머물러 있어라. 여호와께서 나를 벧엘로 보내셨다." 그러나 엘리사가 말했다. "여호와께서 살아 계시고 당신의 목숨이 살아 있음을 두고 맹세합니다. 저는 결코 당신을 떠나지 않겠습니다." 그래서 두 사람은 벧엘로 내려갔다.
3 The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “ Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from over you today?” He said, “ Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that Jehovah will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.벧엘에 있던 선지자의 제자들이 엘리사에게 나와서 말했다. "여호와께서 오늘 당신의 스승을 당신 머리 위에서 데려가실 것을 아십니까?" 엘리사가 대답했다. "그렇소, 나도 알고 있으니 조용히 하시오."
4 Elijah said to him, “ Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “ As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for Jehovah hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.엘리야가 엘리사에게 말했다. "엘리사야, 여기 머물러 있어라. 여호와께서 나를 여리고로 보내셨다." 그러나 엘리사가 말했다. "여호와께서 살아 계시고 당신의 목숨이 살아 있음을 두고 맹세합니다. 저는 결코 당신을 떠나지 않겠습니다." 그래서 두 사람은 여리고에 이르렀다.
5 The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “ Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from over you today?” He answered, “ Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that Jehovah will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.여리고에 있던 선지자의 제자들이 엘리사에게 다가와서 말했다. "여호와께서 오늘 당신의 스승을 당신 머리 위에서 데려가실 것을 아십니까?" 엘리사가 대답했다. "그렇소, 나도 알고 있으니 조용히 하시오."

7 Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood over against them afar off: and they two stood by the Jordan.선지자의 제자들 가운데 쉰 명이 가서 멀찍이 떨어져 그들 맞은편에 섰고, 두 사람은 요단강 가에 섰다.
8 Elijah took his mantle, and rolled it up, and struck the waters; and they were divided here and there, so that they both went over on dry ground.And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.엘리야가 자기 겉옷을 벗어 둘둘 말아 강물을 치니, 물이 이쪽저쪽으로 갈라졌다. 그래서 두 사람은 마른 땅을 밟고 강을 건넜다.
9 When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, “ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “ Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.강을 건넌 뒤에 엘리야가 엘리사에게 말했다. "내가 너에게서 떠나기 전에, 너를 위해 무엇을 해 주면 좋겠는지 구하여라." 엘리사가 말했다. "당신의 영의 두 몫을 제게 주십시오."
10 He said, “ You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it will be so for you; but if not, it will not be so.”And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.엘리야가 말했다. "너는 어려운 것을 구했구나. 그러나 내가 너에게서 떠날 때 네가 나를 보면 그대로 될 것이고, 보지 못하면 그렇게 되지 않을 것이다."
11 As they continued on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, which parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.두 사람이 계속 걸으며 이야기하고 있을 때, 보라, 불수레와 불말이 나타나 두 사람을 갈라놓았고, 엘리야는 회오리바람을 타고 하늘로 올라갔다.
12 Elisha saw it, and he cried, “ My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof! And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.엘리사가 그것을 보고 외쳤다. "내 아버지여, 내 아버지여, 이스라엘의 병거와 마병이여!" 그러고는 더 이상 그를 볼 수 없었다. 엘리사는 자기 옷을 붙잡고 둘로 찢었다.
13 He also took up Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of the Jordan.엘리사는 엘리야에게서 떨어진 겉옷을 집어 들고 돌아와 요단강 가에 섰다.
14 He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “ Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is Jehovah, the God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they were divided hither and thither; and Elisha went over.그는 엘리야에게서 떨어진 겉옷으로 강물을 치며 말했다. "엘리야의 하나님 여호와는 어디 계십니까?" 그가 강물을 치니 물이 이쪽저쪽으로 갈라졌고, 엘리사는 강을 건넜다.
15 When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.And when the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.여리고에 있던 선지자의 제자들이 맞은편에서 그를 보고 말했다. "엘리야의 영이 엘리사 위에 머물러 있다." 그러고는 그를 맞으러 나와 땅에 엎드려 그에게 절했다.
16 They said to him, “ See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps Yahweh’s Spirit has taken him up, and put him on some mountain or into some valley.” He said, “Don’t send them.”And they said unto him, Behold now, there are with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master, lest the Spirit of Jehovah hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.그들이 엘리사에게 말했다. "보십시오, 당신의 종들에게 힘센 사람 쉰 명이 있습니다. 그들을 보내 당신의 스승을 찾게 해 주십시오. 혹시 여호와의 영이 그를 들어 올려 어느 산이나 골짜기에 두셨을지도 모릅니다." 엘리사가 말했다. "보내지 마시오."
17 When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “ Send them.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.그러나 그들이 엘리사가 부끄러워할 때까지 졸라대니, 엘리사가 말했다. "보내시오." 그래서 그들이 쉰 명을 보내 사흘 동안 찾았으나 그를 발견하지 못했다.
18 They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”And they came back to him, while he tarried at Jericho; and he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?엘리사가 여리고에 머물러 있을 때 그들이 돌아오자, 엘리사가 그들에게 말했다. "내가 너희에게 가지 말라고 하지 않았느냐?"
19 The men of the city said to Elisha, “ Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, we pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is bad, and the land miscarrieth.그 성읍 사람들이 엘리사에게 말했다. "보십시오, 이 성읍의 위치는 보시는 대로 좋습니다. 그러나 물이 나쁘고 땅이 열매를 맺지 못합니다."
20 He said, “ Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” Then they brought it to him.And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.엘리사가 말했다. "새 그릇을 가져와 그 안에 소금을 담아라." 그들이 그것을 그에게 가져왔다.
21 He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “ Yahweh says, ‘ I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’”And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and said, Thus saith Jehovah, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or miscarrying.엘리사가 물 근원으로 나가 그곳에 소금을 던지며 말했다. "여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '내가 이 물을 고쳤으니, 이제부터는 여기에서 죽음이나 열매를 맺지 못하는 일이 다시는 없을 것이다.'"
22 So the waters were healed to this day, according to Elisha’s word which he spoke.So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spake.그리하여 엘리사가 한 말대로 그 물은 오늘날까지 고쳐졌다.
23 He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “ Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldy!”And he went up from thence unto Beth-el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.엘리사는 그곳에서 벧엘로 올라갔다. 그가 길을 따라 올라가고 있을 때, 그 성읍에서 아이들이 나와 그를 조롱하며 말했다. "대머리야, 올라가라! 대머리야, 올라가라!"
24 He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in Yahweh’s name. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Jehovah. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two lads of them.엘리사가 뒤를 돌아보고 그들을 본 뒤 여호와의 이름으로 그들을 저주했다. 그러자 암곰 두 마리가 숲에서 나와 그 아이들 가운데 마흔두 명을 찢어 죽였다.
25 He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.엘리사는 그곳에서 갈멜산으로 갔고, 거기서 사마리아로 돌아갔다.
