2 Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper room that was in Samaria, and was sick. So he sent messengers, and said to them, “ Go, inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover from this sickness.”And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover of this sickness.아하시야가 사마리아에 있는 자기 다락방 난간에서 떨어져 병이 들었다. 그래서 그는 사신들을 보내며 그들에게 말하였다. "가서 에그론의 신 바알세붑에게 물어, 내가 이 병에서 회복될지 알아보아라."
3 But Yahweh’s angel said to Elijah the Tishbite, “ Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and tell them, ‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel that you go to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?But the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it because there is no God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?그러나 여호와의 천사가 디셉 사람 엘리야에게 말하였다. "일어나 사마리아 왕의 사신들을 만나러 올라가서 그들에게 이렇게 말하여라. '이스라엘에 하나님이 없어서 너희가 에그론의 신 바알세붑에게 물으러 가느냐?
4 Now therefore Yahweh says, “ You will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.”’” Then Elijah departed.Now therefore thus saith Jehovah, Thou shalt not come down from the bed whither thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.그러므로 이제 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 너는 네가 올라간 그 침상에서 내려오지 못하고 반드시 죽으리라.'" 그러고서 엘리야가 떠나갔다.
5 The messengers returned to him, and he said to them, “ Why is it that you have returned?”And the messengers returned unto him, and he said unto them, Why is it that ye are returned?사신들이 왕에게 돌아오니, 왕이 그들에게 말하였다. "어찌하여 너희가 돌아왔느냐?"
6 They said to him, “ A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘ Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, “ Yahweh says, ‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’”’”And they said unto him, There came up a man to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Is it because there is no God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed whither thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.그들이 왕에게 말하였다. "한 사람이 우리를 만나러 올라와서 우리에게 말하였습니다. '너희를 보낸 왕에게 돌아가서 그에게 이르기를, 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이스라엘에 하나님이 없어서 네가 에그론의 신 바알세붑에게 물으러 보내느냐? 그러므로 너는 네가 올라간 그 침상에서 내려오지 못하고 반드시 죽으리라 하라.'"
7 He said to them, “ What kind of man was he who came up to meet you and told you these words?”And he said unto them, What manner of man was he that came up to meet you, and told you these words?왕이 그들에게 말하였다. "너희를 만나러 올라와서 이 말을 한 그 사람의 모습이 어떠하더냐?"
8 They answered him, “ He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said, “ It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”And they answered him, He was a hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.그들이 왕에게 대답하였다. "그는 털이 많은 사람이었고, 허리에 가죽 띠를 두르고 있었습니다." 왕이 말하였다. "그는 디셉 사람 엘리야로다."
9 Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. He went up to him; and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. He said to him, “ Man of God, the king has said, ‘ Come down!’”Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. And he spake unto him, O man of God, the king hath said, Come down.그러자 왕이 오십부장 한 사람을 그의 부하 오십 명과 함께 엘리야에게 보냈다. 그가 엘리야에게 올라가니, 보라, 엘리야가 산꼭대기에 앉아 있었다. 그가 엘리야에게 말하였다. "하나님의 사람이여, 왕께서 '내려오라!' 하셨습니다."
10 Elijah answered to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from the sky and consume you and your fifty!” Then fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.엘리야가 그 오십부장에게 대답하여 말하였다. "내가 만일 하나님의 사람이라면, 하늘에서 불이 내려와 너와 네 부하 오십 명을 살라 버릴 것이다!" 그러자 하늘에서 불이 내려와 그와 그의 부하 오십 명을 살라 버렸다.
11 Again he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. He answered him, “ Man of God, the king has said, ‘ Come down quickly!’”And again he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.왕이 다시 또 다른 오십부장을 그의 부하 오십 명과 함께 엘리야에게 보냈다. 그가 엘리야에게 말하였다. "하나님의 사람이여, 왕께서 '속히 내려오라!' 하셨습니다."
12 Elijah answered them, “If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from the sky and consume you and your fifty!” Then God’s fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.엘리야가 그들에게 대답하여 말하였다. "내가 만일 하나님의 사람이라면, 하늘에서 불이 내려와 너와 네 부하 오십 명을 살라 버릴 것이다!" 그러자 하나님의 불이 하늘에서 내려와 그와 그의 부하 오십 명을 살라 버렸다.
13 Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him, “ Man of God, please let my life and the life of these fifty of your servants be precious in your sight.And again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.왕이 다시 세 번째 오십부장을 그의 부하 오십 명과 함께 보냈다. 그 세 번째 오십부장이 올라가 엘리야 앞에 무릎을 꿇고 그에게 간청하여 말하였다. "하나님의 사람이여, 부디 내 생명과 당신의 종인 이 오십 명의 생명을 당신이 보시기에 귀하게 여겨 주십시오.
14 Behold, fire came down from the sky and consumed the last two captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight.”Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties; but now let my life be precious in thy sight.보십시오, 하늘에서 불이 내려와 앞서 온 두 오십부장과 그들의 부하 오십 명씩을 살라 버렸습니다. 그러나 이제는 내 생명을 당신이 보시기에 귀하게 여겨 주십시오."
15 Yahweh’s angel said to Elijah, “ Go down with him. Don’t be afraid of him.” Then he arose and went down with him to the king.And the angel of Jehovah said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.여호와의 천사가 엘리야에게 말하였다. "그와 함께 내려가거라. 그를 두려워하지 말아라." 그래서 엘리야가 일어나 그와 함께 왕에게로 내려갔다.
16 He said to him, “ Yahweh says, ‘ Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’”And he said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed whither thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.엘리야가 왕에게 말하였다. "여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '네가 에그론의 신 바알세붑에게 물으려고 사신들을 보냈으니, 이스라엘에 그의 말씀을 물을 하나님이 없어서 그리하였느냐? 그러므로 너는 네가 올라간 그 침상에서 내려오지 못하고 반드시 죽으리라.'"
17 So he died according to Yahweh’s word which Elijah had spoken. Jehoram began to reign in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because he had no son.So he died according to the word of Jehovah which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.그래서 그는 엘리야가 전한 여호와의 말씀대로 죽었다. 그에게 아들이 없었으므로, 유다 왕 여호사밧의 아들 여호람 둘째 해에 여호람이 그를 대신하여 다스리기 시작하였다.
