1 Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, “ Put your belt on your waist, take this vial of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead.And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this vial of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead.선지자 엘리사가 선지자의 제자들 가운데 한 사람을 불러 그에게 말하였다. 2 When you come there, find Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him rise up from among his brothers, and take him to an inner room.And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber.그곳에 이르거든 님시의 손자요 여호사밧의 아들인 예후를 찾아라. 그에게 들어가 그를 형제들 가운데서 일으켜 안방으로 데리고 가거라.
3 Then take the vial of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, ‘ Yahweh says, “ I have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door, flee, and don’t wait.”Then take the vial of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith Jehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.그런 다음 기름병을 가져다가 그의 머리에 부으며 말하여라. '여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 내가 너에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다.' 그러고 나서 문을 열고 달아나되 지체하지 말아라."
4 So the young man, the young prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead.그래서 그 젊은이, 곧 그 젊은 선지자가 라못길르앗으로 갔다.
5 When he came, behold, the captains of the army were sitting. Then he said, “ I have a message for you, captain.” Jehu said, “ To which one of us?” He said, “ To you, O captain.”And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of us all? And he said, To thee, O captain.그가 이르러 보니 군대 지휘관들이 앉아 있었다. 그가 말하였다. "지휘관님, 당신께 드릴 말씀이 있습니다." 예후가 말하였다. "우리 가운데 누구에게 말이냐?" 그가 대답하였다. "지휘관님, 바로 당신께입니다."
6 He arose, and went into the house. Then he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, “ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘ I have anointed you king over the people of Yahweh, even over Israel.And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of Jehovah, even over Israel.예후가 일어나 집 안으로 들어가니, 그 젊은이가 그의 머리에 기름을 붓고 그에게 말하였다. "이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '내가 너에게 기름을 부어 여호와의 백성, 곧 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다.
7 You must strike your master Ahab’s house, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Yahweh, at the hand of Jezebel.And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah, at the hand of Jezebel.너는 네 주인 아합의 집안을 쳐서, 내 종 선지자들이 흘린 피와 여호와의 모든 종이 흘린 피를 이세벨의 손에 갚으리라.
8 For the whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab everyone who urinates against a wall, both him who is shut up and him who is left at large in Israel.For the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and I will cut off from Ahab every man-child, and him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel.아합의 온 집안이 망할 것이니, 내가 이스라엘에서 아합에게 속한 모든 남자를, 매인 자나 놓인 자나 다 끊어 버리리라.
9 I will make Ahab’s house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.내가 아합의 집안을 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 집안같이, 또 아히야의 아들 바아사의 집안같이 만들리라.
10 The dogs will eat Jezebel on the plot of ground of Jezreel, and there shall be no one to bury her.’” Then he opened the door and fled.And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.이세벨은 이스르엘의 밭에서 개들이 먹을 것이며, 그를 묻어 줄 사람이 아무도 없으리라.'" 그러고는 그가 문을 열고 달아났다.
11 When Jehu came out to the servants of his lord and one said to him, “ Is all well? Why did this madman come to you?” He said to them, “ You know the man and how he talks.”Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man and what his talk was.예후가 자기 주인의 신하들에게로 나오니, 한 사람이 그에게 물었다. "다 평안하오? 그 미친 자가 무슨 일로 당신에게 왔소?" 예후가 그들에게 대답하였다. "당신들은 그 사람을 알고, 또 그가 무슨 말을 하는지 알지 않소."
12 They said, “ That is a lie. Tell us now.” He said, “ He said to me, ‘ Yahweh says, I have anointed you king over Israel.’”And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel.그들이 말하였다. "거짓말이오. 지금 우리에게 말해 보시오." 예후가 대답하였다. "그가 나에게 이렇게 말하였소. '여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 내가 너에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다.'"
13 Then they hurried, and each man took his cloak, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, “ Jehu is king.”Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, Jehu is king.그러자 그들이 서둘러 저마다 자기 겉옷을 가져다가 섬돌 위, 예후의 발밑에 깔고 나팔을 불며 외쳤다. "예후가 왕이다!"
14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. ( Now Joram was defending Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria;So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. ( Now Joram was keeping Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria;이렇게 님시의 손자요 여호사밧의 아들인 예후가 요람을 모반하였다. (그때 요람은 온 이스라엘과 함께 시리아 왕 하사엘 때문에 라못길르앗을 지키고 있었는데,
15 but King Joram had returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) Jehu said, “ If this is your thinking, then let no one escape and go out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.”but king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If this be your mind, then let none escape and go forth out of the city, to go to tell it in Jezreel.요람 왕은 시리아 왕 하사엘과 싸울 때 시리아 사람들에게 입은 상처를 치료하려고 이스르엘로 돌아와 있었다.) 예후가 말하였다. "당신들의 뜻이 이러하다면, 아무도 성에서 빠져나가 이스르엘에 이 소식을 전하지 못하게 하시오."
16 So Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram lay there. Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.그래서 예후는 병거를 타고 이스르엘로 갔다. 요람이 그곳에 누워 있었기 때문이다. 유다 왕 아하시야도 요람을 보러 내려와 있었다.
17 Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, “ I see a company.” Joram said, “ Take a horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, ‘ Is it peace?’”Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take a horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?그때 이스르엘 망대 위에 파수꾼이 서 있다가, 예후의 무리가 오는 것을 보고 말하였다. "한 무리가 보입니다." 요람이 말하였다. "기병 하나를 데려다 그들에게 보내어 '평안하냐?'고 묻게 하여라."
18 So one went on horseback to meet him, and said, “ the king says, ‘ Is it peace?’” Jehu said, “ What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me!” The watchman said, “ The messenger came to them, but he isn’t coming back.”So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not back.그래서 한 사람이 말을 타고 그를 맞으러 가서 말하였다. "왕께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '평안하냐?'" 예후가 대답하였다. "네가 평안과 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 내 뒤로 돌아서라!" 파수꾼이 알렸다. "전령이 그들에게 갔으나 돌아오지 않습니다."
19 Then he sent out a second on horseback, who came to them and said, “ The king says, ‘ Is it peace?’” Jehu answered, “ What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me!”Then he sent out a second on horseback, who came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.그러자 요람이 두 번째 기병을 내보냈는데, 그가 그들에게 가서 말하였다. "왕께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '평안하냐?'" 예후가 대답하였다. "네가 평안과 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 내 뒤로 돌아서라!"
20 The watchman said, “ He came to them, and isn’t coming back. The driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.”And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not back: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.파수꾼이 알렸다. "그가 그들에게 갔으나 돌아오지 않습니다. 그 모는 모양이 님시의 아들 예후가 모는 것 같은데, 미친 듯이 몰고 있습니다."
21 Joram said, “ Get ready!” They got his chariot ready. Then Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot; and they went out to meet Jehu, and found him on Naboth the Jezreelite’s land.And Joram said, Make ready. And they made ready his chariot. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu, and found him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.요람이 말하였다. "준비하여라!" 그들이 그의 병거를 준비하니, 이스라엘 왕 요람과 유다 왕 아하시야가 저마다 자기 병거를 타고 나가 예후를 맞으러 갔다. 그들은 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 밭에서 예후를 만났다.
22 When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “ Is it peace, Jehu?” He answered, “ What peace, so long as the prostitution of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft abound?”And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?요람이 예후를 보고 말하였다. "예후야, 평안하냐?" 예후가 대답하였다. "네 어미 이세벨의 음행과 술수가 이렇게 많은데 무슨 평안이 있겠느냐?"
23 Joram turned his hands and fled, and said to Ahaziah, “ This is treason, Ahaziah!”And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.요람이 손을 돌이켜 달아나며 아하시야에게 말하였다. "아하시야여, 반역이오!"
24 Jehu drew his bow with his full strength, and struck Joram between his arms; and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.And Jehu drew his bow with his full strength, and smote Joram between his arms; and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.예후가 온 힘을 다해 활을 당겨 요람의 두 팔 사이를 쏘니, 화살이 그의 심장을 꿰뚫고 나가, 그가 자기 병거 안에 쓰러졌다.
25 Then Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “ Pick him up, and throw him in the plot of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember how, when you and I rode together after Ahab his father, Yahweh laid this burden on him:Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, Jehovah laid this burden upon him:그러자 예후가 자기 지휘관 빗갈에게 말하였다. "그를 들어다가 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 밭에 던져라. 너와 내가 그의 아버지 아합을 뒤따라 함께 말을 타고 갈 때, 여호와께서 아합에게 이런 경고를 내리셨던 일을 기억하여라.
26 ‘ Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons,’ says Yahweh; ‘ and I will repay you in this plot of ground,’ says Yahweh. Now therefore take and cast him onto the plot of ground, according to Yahweh’s word.”Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith Jehovah; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith Jehovah. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of Jehovah.'내가 어제 나봇의 피와 그의 아들들의 피를 분명히 보았다.' 여호와의 말씀이다. '내가 바로 이 밭에서 네게 갚으리라.' 여호와의 말씀이다. 그러니 이제 그를 들어다가 여호와의 말씀대로 이 밭에 던져라."
27 But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. Jehu followed after him, and said, “ Strike him also in the chariot!” They struck him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. He fled to Megiddo, and died there.But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden-house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot: and they smote him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.유다 왕 아하시야가 이 일을 보고 정원 별장 쪽 길로 달아났다. 예후가 그를 뒤쫓으며 말하였다. "저 자도 병거 안에서 쳐라!" 그들이 이블르암 근처 구르 비탈에서 그를 쳤다. 그가 므깃도로 달아나 거기서 죽었다.
28 His servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in David’s city.And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.그의 신하들이 그를 병거에 실어 예루살렘으로 옮겨, 다윗 성에 있는 그의 조상들과 함께 그의 무덤에 묻었다.
29 In the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab, Ahaziah began to reign over Judah.And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.아합의 아들 요람 제십일년에 아하시야가 유다를 다스리기 시작하였다.
30 When Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her eyes, and adorned her head, and looked out at the window.And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her eyes, and attired her head, and looked out at the window.예후가 이스르엘에 이르렀을 때, 이세벨이 그 소식을 듣고 눈에 화장을 하고 머리를 단장한 뒤 창밖을 내다보았다.
31 As Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, “Do you come in peace, Zimri, you murderer of your master?”And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Is it peace, thou Zimri, thy master’s murderer?예후가 성문으로 들어서자, 이세벨이 말하였다. "제 주인을 죽인 너 시므리야, 평안하냐?"
32 He lifted up his face to the window, and said, “ Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs looked out at him.And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.예후가 얼굴을 들어 창문을 쳐다보며 말하였다. "누가 내 편이냐? 누구냐?" 그러자 두세 명의 내시가 그를 내려다보았다.
33 He said, “ Throw her down!” So they threw her down; and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses. Then he trampled her under foot.And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down; and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trod her under foot.예후가 말하였다. "그 여자를 내던져라!" 그들이 그 여자를 내던지니, 그의 피가 얼마간 담벼락과 말들에게 튀었고, 예후가 그를 발로 짓밟았다.
34 When he had come in, he ate and drank. Then he said, “ See now to this cursed woman, and bury her; for she is a king’s daughter.”And when he was come in, he did eat and drink; and he said, See now to this cursed woman, and bury her; for she is a king’s daughter.예후가 안으로 들어가 먹고 마신 뒤 말하였다. "이제 저 저주받은 여자를 살펴서 묻어 주어라. 그래도 그가 왕의 딸이니라."
35 They went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull, the feet, and the palms of her hands.And they went to bury her; but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.그들이 그 여자를 묻으려고 갔으나, 그의 두개골과 두 발과 두 손바닥 외에는 더 찾지 못하였다.
36 Therefore they came back, and told him. He said, “ This is Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘ The dogs will eat the flesh of Jezebel on the plot of Jezreel,Wherefore they came back, and told him. And he said, This is the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel;그래서 그들이 돌아와 예후에게 알리니, 예후가 말하였다. "이것이 여호와께서 그의 종 디셉 사람 엘리야를 통하여 하신 말씀이다. '이스르엘의 밭에서 개들이 이세벨의 살을 먹을 것이며,
37 and the body of Jezebel will be as dung on the surface of the field on Jezreel’s land, so that they won’t say, “ This is Jezebel.”’”and the body of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.이세벨의 시체는 이스르엘 밭의 거름같이 되어, 아무도 이것이 이세벨이라고 말하지 못하게 되리라.'"
