1 Jehoash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.In the seventh year of Jehu began Jehoash to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.예후 왕 제칠년에 요아스가 다스리기 시작하여 예루살렘에서 사십 년 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니의 이름은 시비아이며 브엘세바 출신이었다.
2 Jehoash did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.And Jehoash did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 그를 가르치는 동안 내내 여호와께서 보시기에 올바른 일을 행하였다.
3 However, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.Howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.그러나 산당은 헐어 버리지 않아서, 백성은 여전히 산당에서 제사를 드리고 향을 피웠다.
4 Jehoash said to the priests, “ All the money of the holy things that is brought into Yahweh’s house, in current money, the money of the people for whom each man is evaluated, and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into Yahweh’s house,And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the hallowed things that is brought into the house of Jehovah, in current money, the money of the persons for whom each man is rated, and all the money that it cometh into any man’s heart to bring into the house of Jehovah,요아스가 제사장들에게 말하였다. "여호와의 성전으로 들여오는 모든 거룩한 헌금, 곧 통용되는 돈과 각 사람에게 매긴 신상금과 누구든지 마음에 우러나 여호와의 성전으로 가져오는 모든 돈을,
5 let the priests take it to them, each man from his donor; and they shall repair the damage to the house, wherever any damage is found.”let the priests take it to them, every man from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.제사장들이 저마다 자기가 아는 사람에게서 받아 두었다가, 성전에 무너진 곳이 발견되는 대로 어디든 그 무너진 곳을 보수하게 하여라."
6 But it was so, that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damage to the house.But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.그런데 요아스 왕 제이십삼년이 되도록 제사장들은 성전의 무너진 곳을 보수하지 않았다.
7 Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said to them, “ Why aren’t you repairing the damage to the house? Now therefore take no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for repair of the damage to the house.”Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore take no more money from your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.그러자 요아스 왕이 제사장 여호야다와 다른 제사장들을 불러서 그들에게 말하였다. "어찌하여 너희가 성전의 무너진 곳을 보수하지 않느냐? 그러니 이제부터는 너희가 아는 사람들에게서 더 이상 돈을 받지 말고, 성전의 무너진 곳을 보수하는 데에 그 돈을 넘겨주어라."
8 The priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, and not repair the damage to the house.And the priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, neither repair the breaches of the house.제사장들은 백성에게서 더 이상 돈을 받지 않고, 성전의 무너진 곳도 직접 보수하지 않기로 동의하였다.
9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into Yahweh’s house; and the priests who kept the threshold put all the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house into it.But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of Jehovah: and the priests that kept the threshold put therein all the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah.그러자 제사장 여호야다가 궤 하나를 가져다가 그 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫고, 여호와의 성전으로 들어가는 입구 오른쪽 제단 곁에 두었다. 문지기 제사장들이 여호와의 성전으로 들여오는 모든 돈을 그 궤 안에 넣었다.
10 When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in Yahweh’s house.And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags and counted the money that was found in the house of Jehovah.그래서 궤 안에 돈이 많이 쌓인 것을 보면, 왕의 서기관과 대제사장이 올라와서 여호와의 성전에서 거둔 돈을 자루에 담아 세었다.
11 They gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on Yahweh’s house,And they gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of Jehovah: and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders, that wrought upon the house of Jehovah,그들은 그 헤아린 돈을 여호와의 성전 일을 감독하는 일꾼들의 손에 맡겼고, 그들은 여호와의 성전에서 일하는 목수들과 건축자들에게 그것을 지급하였다.
12 and to the masons and the stone cutters, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the damage to Yahweh’s house, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.and to the masons and the hewers of stone, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the breaches of the house of Jehovah, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.또 미장이들과 석공들에게 지급하고, 여호와의 성전의 무너진 곳을 보수하는 데 쓸 목재와 다듬은 돌을 사들이며, 성전을 보수하는 데 드는 모든 비용에 사용하였다.
13 But there were not made for Yahweh’s house cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house;But there were not made for the house of Jehovah cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah;그러나 여호와의 성전으로 들여온 그 돈으로는 여호와의 성전을 위하여 은잔이나 부집게나 대접이나 나팔이나 금그릇이나 은그릇을 만들지는 않았다.
14 for they gave that to those who did the work, and repaired Yahweh’s house with it.for they gave that to them that did the work, and repaired therewith the house of Jehovah.그것은 일하는 사람들에게 주어서 그것으로 여호와의 성전을 보수하게 하였기 때문이다.
15 Moreover they didn’t demand an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to give to those who did the work; for they dealt faithfully.Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to give to them that did the work; for they dealt faithfully.더욱이 그들은 일꾼들에게 줄 돈을 맡긴 사람들에게 회계 보고를 요구하지 않았으니, 이는 그들이 신실하게 일을 처리하였기 때문이다.
16 The money for the trespass offerings and the money for the sin offerings was not brought into Yahweh’s house. It was the priests’.The money for the trespass-offerings, and the money for the sin-offerings, was not brought into the house of Jehovah: it was the priests’.속건제와 속죄제의 돈은 여호와의 성전으로 들이지 않았으니, 그것은 제사장들의 몫이었다.

18 Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.유다 왕 요아스가 자기 조상들, 곧 유다 왕 여호사밧과 여호람과 아하시야가 봉헌한 모든 거룩한 물건과 자기가 바친 거룩한 물건과 여호와의 성전 곳간과 왕궁에서 발견된 모든 금을 가져다가 시리아 왕 하사엘에게 보냈더니, 그가 예루살렘에서 물러갔다.

21 For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in David’s city; and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.그의 신하 시므앗의 아들 요사갈과 소멜의 아들 여호사밧이 그를 쳐서 죽이니, 사람들이 그를 다윗 성에 그의 조상들과 함께 장사하였다. 그리고 그의 아들 아마샤가 그의 뒤를 이어 다스렸다.
