2 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.그가 다스리기 시작할 때에 스물다섯 살이었으며, 예루살렘에서 스물아홉 해를 다스렸다. 그의 어머니의 이름은 예루살렘 출신 여호앗단이었다.
3 He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, yet not like David his father. He did according to all that Joash his father had done.And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.그는 여호와께서 보시기에 옳은 일을 행했으나, 그의 조상 다윗과 같지는 않았다. 그는 그의 아버지 요아스가 행한 모든 것을 따라 행했다.

8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “ Come, let’s look one another in the face.”Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.그때에 아마샤가 예후의 손자요 여호아하스의 아들인 이스라엘 왕 여호아스에게 사신들을 보내어 이르기를 "오라, 우리가 서로 얼굴을 맞대어 보자" 하였다.

10 You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you fall, even you, and Judah with you?”Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?네가 과연 에돔을 쳤으므로 네 마음이 교만해졌구나. 그 영광을 누리며 집에나 머물러 있으라. 어찌하여 화를 자초하여 너와 유다가 함께 넘어지려 하느냐?" 하였다.
11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.그러나 아마샤가 듣지 않았다. 그래서 이스라엘 왕 여호아스가 올라왔고, 그와 유다 왕 아마샤가 유다에 속한 벧세메스에서 서로 얼굴을 맞대었다.
12 Judah was defeated by Israel; and each man fled to his tent.And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.유다가 이스라엘 앞에서 패하여, 사람마다 자기 장막으로 도망쳤다.
13 Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh and came to Jerusalem, then broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.이스라엘 왕 여호아스가 벧세메스에서 아하시야의 손자요 여호아스의 아들인 유다 왕 아마샤를 사로잡고, 예루살렘에 이르러 예루살렘 성벽을 에브라임 문에서 모퉁이 문까지 사백 규빗을 헐어 버렸다.

24 He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight. He didn’t depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.그는 여호와께서 보시기에 악한 일을 행했으니, 이스라엘로 죄를 짓게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 모든 죄에서 떠나지 않았다.

26 For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter for all, slave and free; and there was no helper for Israel.For Jehovah saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.이는 여호와께서 이스라엘의 고난이 심히 쓰라린 것을 보셨기 때문이다. 매인 자도 놓인 자도 남지 않았고, 이스라엘을 도울 자가 아무도 없었다.
27 Yahweh didn’t say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the sky; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.And Jehovah said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.그러나 여호와께서는 이스라엘의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 지워 버리겠다고 말씀하지 않으시고, 요아스의 아들 여로보암의 손으로 그들을 구원하셨다.
