1 Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars.Wisdom hath builded her house; She hath hewn out her seven pillars:지혜가 자기 집을 지었으니, 일곱 기둥을 깎아 세웠다.
2 She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table.She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; She hath also furnished her table:그녀가 짐승을 잡아 고기를 마련하고, 포도주를 섞었으며, 상도 차려 놓았다.
3 She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city:She hath sent forth her maidens; She crieth upon the highest places of the city:그녀가 여종들을 보내어, 성읍의 가장 높은 곳에서 외친다.
4 “ Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: As for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,“어수룩한 사람은 누구든지 이리로 들어오너라!” 깨달음이 없는 사람에게 그녀는 이렇게 말한다.
5 “ Come, eat some of my bread, Drink some of the wine which I have mixed!Come, eat ye of my bread, And drink of the wine which I have mingled.“와서 내 음식을 먹고, 내가 섞어 놓은 포도주를 마셔라!
6 Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.”Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; And walk in the way of understanding.어수룩한 길을 버리고 살아라. 깨달음의 길을 걸어가라.”
7 One who corrects a mocker invites insult. One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.He that correcteth a scoffer getteth to himself reviling; And he that reproveth a wicked man getteth himself a blot.거만한 사람을 바로잡으려는 자는 도리어 모욕을 받고, 악한 사람을 꾸짖는 자는 도리어 욕을 당한다.
8 Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise person, and he will love you.Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate thee: Reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.거만한 사람을 꾸짖지 마라. 그가 너를 미워할까 한다. 지혜로운 사람을 꾸짖어라. 그러면 그가 너를 사랑할 것이다.
9 Instruct a wise person, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous person, and he will increase in learning.Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.지혜로운 사람을 가르쳐라. 그러면 그가 더욱 지혜로워질 것이다. 의로운 사람을 가르쳐라. 그러면 그의 배움이 더해질 것이다.
10 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.여호와를 경외하는 것이 지혜의 시작이요, 거룩하신 분을 아는 것이 깨달음이다.
11 For by me your days will be multiplied. The years of your life will be increased.For by me thy days shall be multiplied, And the years of thy life shall be increased.나로 말미암아 네 날들이 많아지고, 네 삶의 햇수가 더해질 것이다.
12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it.If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself; And if thou scoffest, thou alone shalt bear it.네가 지혜로우면 그 지혜는 너 자신을 위한 것이요, 네가 거만하면 그 결과를 너 홀로 감당할 것이다.
13 The foolish woman is loud, undisciplined, and knows nothing.The foolish woman is clamorous; She is simple, and knoweth nothing.미련한 여자는 시끄럽고, 절제가 없으며, 아무것도 알지 못한다.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,And she sitteth at the door of her house, On a seat in the high places of the city,그녀는 자기 집 문 앞에, 성읍의 높은 곳 자리에 앉아서,
15 to call to those who pass by, who go straight on their ways,To call to them that pass by, Who go right on their ways:자기 길을 곧장 가는 행인들을 불러,
16 “ Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither; And as for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,“어수룩한 사람은 누구든지 이리로 들어오너라.” 깨달음이 없는 사람에게 그녀는 이렇게 말한다.
17 “ Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant.”Stolen waters are sweet, And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.“훔친 물이 달고, 몰래 먹는 음식이 맛있다.”
18 But he doesn’t know that the departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.But he knoweth not that the dead are there; That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.그러나 그는 거기에 죽은 자들이 있는 것을, 그녀의 손님들이 스올의 깊은 곳에 있다는 것을 알지 못한다.
