1 Doesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?Doth not wisdom cry, And understanding put forth her voice?지혜가 외치지 않느냐? 명철이 그 소리를 높이지 않느냐?
2 On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.On the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she standeth;지혜는 길가의 높은 곳, 여러 길이 만나는 자리에 서 있다.
3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, At the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud:성문 곁, 성으로 들어가는 어귀, 문 입구에서 큰 소리로 외친다.
4 “ I call to you men! I send my voice to the sons of mankind.Unto you, O men, I call; And my voice is to the sons of men."사람들아, 내가 너희를 부른다. 내 목소리를 모든 사람의 자녀에게 보낸다.
5 You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart!O ye simple, understand prudence; And, ye fools, be of an understanding heart.어리석은 자들아, 슬기를 깨달아라. 미련한 자들아, 명철한 마음을 가져라.
6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things.Hear, for I will speak excellent things; And the opening of my lips shall be right things.들어라, 내가 뛰어난 것을 말하겠다. 내 입술을 여는 것은 옳은 것을 위함이다.
7 For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.For my mouth shall utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.내 입은 진리를 말하고, 악함은 내 입술이 싫어하는 것이다.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.내 입의 모든 말은 의 안에 있으며, 그 안에는 굽거나 비뚤어진 것이 하나도 없다.
9 They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge.They are all plain to him that understandeth, And right to them that find knowledge.깨닫는 자에게는 그 말이 다 분명하고, 지식을 찾는 자에게는 옳다.
10 Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold.Receive my instruction, and not silver; And knowledge rather than choice gold.은보다 내 교훈을 받고, 정금보다 지식을 받아라.
11 For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto it.지혜는 루비보다 더 좋으니, 바랄 만한 그 어떤 것도 지혜와 비교할 수 없다.
12 “ I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion.I wisdom have made prudence my dwelling, And find out knowledge and discretion.나 지혜는 슬기를 내 거처로 삼았고, 지식과 분별을 깨달아 안다.
13 The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, And the perverse mouth, do I hate.여호와를 경외하는 것은 악을 미워하는 것이다. 나는 교만과 거만, 악한 길, 비뚤어진 입을 미워한다.
14 Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.Counsel is mine, and sound knowledge: I am understanding; I have might.의논과 참된 지식이 내 것이며, 나는 명철과 능력을 가졌다.
15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.By me kings reign, And princes decree justice.나로 말미암아 왕들이 다스리고, 통치자들이 의로운 법을 정한다.
16 By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.By me princes rule, And nobles, even all the judges of the earth.나로 말미암아 고관들이 다스리고, 귀족들과 땅의 모든 의로운 통치자들이 다스린다.
17 I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.I love them that love me; And those that seek me diligently shall find me.나는 나를 사랑하는 자들을 사랑하니, 나를 간절히 찾는 자들은 나를 만날 것이다.
18 With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.Riches and honor are with me; Yea, durable wealth and righteousness.부와 영예, 영구한 재물과 번영이 내게 있다.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver.My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; And my revenue than choice silver.내 열매는 금보다, 곧 순금보다 더 좋고, 내 소득은 정선한 은보다 낫다.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice,I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice;나는 의의 길로 다니며, 공의의 길 가운데로 걷는다.
21 that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance, And that I may fill their treasuries.나는 나를 사랑하는 자들에게 재물을 주고, 그들의 곳간을 채운다.
22 “ Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of his way, Before his works of old.여호와께서는 그분의 일을 시작하실 때, 옛적의 일들에 앞서 나를 가지고 계셨다.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, Before the earth was.나는 영원 전부터, 태초부터, 땅이 있기 전부터 세워졌다.
24 When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water.When there were no depths, I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water.깊음이 아직 없을 때, 물이 솟아나는 샘이 없을 때 내가 태어났다.
25 Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born;Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth;산들이 제자리에 세워지기 전, 언덕들이 생기기 전에 내가 태어났다.
26 while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.그분이 아직 땅도, 들도, 세상의 첫 티끌도 만들지 않으셨을 때였다.
27 When he established the heavens, I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the deep,When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep,그분이 하늘을 세우실 때 나는 거기 있었고, 깊음의 표면에 둥근 테두리를 그으실 때에도 있었다.
28 when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong,When he made firm the skies above, When the fountains of the deep became strong,위에 구름을 세우시고, 깊음의 샘들을 솟구치게 하실 때에도 있었다.
29 when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,When he gave to the sea its bound, That the waters should not transgress his commandment, When he marked out the foundations of the earth;바다에 경계를 정하여 물이 그분의 명령을 어기지 못하게 하시고, 땅의 기초를 그어 정하실 때에도 있었다.
30 then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,Then I was by him, as a master workman; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him,그때 나는 그분 곁의 장인(匠人)이 되어, 날마다 그분의 기쁨이 되었고, 언제나 그분 앞에서 즐거워하였다.
31 rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men.그분의 온 세상에서 즐거워하였고, 내 기쁨은 사람의 자녀들과 함께 있었다.
32 “ Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me; For blessed are they that keep my ways.그러므로 이제 내 아들들아, 내 말을 들어라. 내 길을 지키는 자들은 복이 있다.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it.Hear instruction, and be wise, And refuse it not.교훈을 듣고 지혜로워져라. 그것을 거절하지 마라.
34 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.내 말을 듣고 날마다 내 문에서 지키며 내 문기둥 곁에서 기다리는 사람은 복이 있다.
35 For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favor of Jehovah.누구든지 나를 만나는 자는 생명을 만나고, 여호와께 은총을 얻을 것이다.
36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All they that hate me love death.그러나 내게 죄를 짓는 자는 자기 영혼을 해치고, 나를 미워하는 모든 자는 죽음을 사랑하는 것이다."
