Proverbs 5장

My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Turn your ear to my understanding,My son, attend unto my wisdom; Incline thine ear to my understanding:

that you may maintain discretion, that your lips may preserve knowledge. That thou mayest preserve discretion, And that thy lips may keep knowledge.

For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil,For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil:

but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and as sharp as a two-edged sword. But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.

Her feet go down to death. Her steps lead straight to Sheol. Her feet go down to death; Her steps take hold on Sheol;

She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn’t know it.So that she findeth not the level path of life: Her ways are unstable, and she knoweth it not.

Now therefore, my sons, listen to me. Don’t depart from the words of my mouth. Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me, And depart not from the words of my mouth.

Remove your way far from her. Don’t come near the door of her house,Remove thy way far from her, And come not nigh the door of her house;

lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel one;Lest thou give thine honor unto others, And thy years unto the cruel;그리하지 않으면 네 명예를 다른 사람들에게 빼앗기고 네 세월을 잔인한 자에게 빼앗기게 되며,

lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man’s house.Lest strangers be filled with thy strength, And thy labors be in the house of an alien,낯선 자들이 네 재물로 배를 채우고 네 수고가 다른 사람의 집을 살찌우게 되느니라.

You will groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed,And thou mourn at thy latter end, When thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

and say, “How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof. And say, How have I hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;이렇게 말하리라.

I haven’t obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor turned my ear to those who instructed me!Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

I have come to the brink of utter ruin, among the gathered assembly.”I was well-nigh in all evil In the midst of the assembly and congregation.

Drink water out of your own cistern, running water out of your own well.Drink waters out of thine own cistern, And running waters out of thine own well.

Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares?Should thy springs be dispersed abroad, And streams of water in the streets?

Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you.Let them be for thyself alone, And not for strangers with thee.

Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.Let thy fountain be blessed; And rejoice in the wife of thy youth.

A loving doe and a graceful deer — let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love.As a loving hind and a pleasant doe, Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; And be thou ravished always with her love.

For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another? For why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

For the ways of man are before Yahweh’s eyes. He examines all his paths. For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah; And he maketh level all his paths.

The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly. His own iniquities shall take the wicked, And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

He will die for lack of instruction. In the greatness of his folly, he will go astray. He shall die for lack of instruction; And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
