1 When Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and preach in their cities.예수께서 열두 제자에게 지시하기를 마치시고, 그곳을 떠나 여러 마을에서 가르치고 전파하셨다.
2 Now when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciplesNow when John heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent by his disciples요한이 옥에서 그리스도께서 하신 일들을 듣고, 자기 제자 두 사람을 보내어
3 and said to him, “ Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?”and said unto him, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?그분께 여쭈게 했다. "오실 그분이 당신이십니까, 아니면 우리가 다른 분을 기다려야 합니까?"
4 Jesus answered them, “ Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:And Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye hear and see:예수께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. "가서 너희가 듣고 보는 것을 요한에게 전하여라.
5 the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings preached to them.눈먼 사람이 보고, 다리 저는 사람이 걸으며, 나병 환자가 깨끗해지고, 귀먹은 사람이 들으며, 죽은 사람이 살아나고, 가난한 사람에게 복음이 전파된다.
6 Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.나를 보고 걸려 넘어지지 않는 사람은 복이 있다."
7 As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “ What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?And as these went their way, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind?그들이 떠나갈 때에 예수께서 무리에게 요한에 관하여 말씀하기 시작하셨다. "너희가 광야에 무엇을 보러 나갔느냐? 바람에 흔들리는 갈대냐?
8 But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft raiment are in kings’ houses.그러면 무엇을 보러 나갔느냐? 부드러운 옷을 입은 사람이냐? 보라, 부드러운 옷을 입은 사람들은 왕궁에 있다.
9 But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.But wherefore went ye out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.그러면 무엇 때문에 나갔느냐? 선지자를 보려고 나갔느냐? 그렇다, 내가 너희에게 말한다. 선지자보다 훨씬 더 뛰어난 사람이다.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘ Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way before thee.이 사람에 관하여 이렇게 기록되어 있다. '보라, 내가 네 앞에 내 사자를 보내니, 그가 네 앞에서 네 길을 예비할 것이다.'
11 Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not arisen a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.내가 진실로 너희에게 말한다. 여자에게서 태어난 사람 가운데 세례자 요한보다 더 큰 이가 일어난 적이 없다. 그러나 하나님 나라에서는 가장 작은 이라도 그보다 크다.
12 From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and men of violence take it by force.세례자 요한의 때부터 지금까지 하나님 나라는 침노를 당하고, 침노하는 사람들이 힘으로 그것을 빼앗는다.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.모든 선지자와 율법이 요한의 때까지 예언하였다.
14 If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.And if ye are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, that is to come.너희가 받아들이려 한다면, 이 사람이 바로 오기로 한 엘리야이다.
15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.들을 귀가 있는 사람은 들어라.
16 “ But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companionsBut whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the marketplaces, who call unto their fellows"그러나 내가 이 세대를 무엇에 비유할까? 마치 장터에 앉아 다른 아이들을 부르는 아이들과 같다.
17 and say, ‘ We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.’and say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not mourn.그들은 이렇게 말한다. '우리가 너희를 위해 피리를 불었으나 너희가 춤추지 않았고, 우리가 슬피 울었으나 너희가 애곡하지 않았다.'
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘ He has a demon.’For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a demon.요한이 와서 먹지도 마시지도 않으니, 사람들이 '그는 귀신이 들렸다'고 말한다.
19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘ Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! And wisdom is justified by her works.인자가 와서 먹고 마시니, 사람들이 '보라, 먹기를 탐하고 술을 즐기는 사람이며, 세리와 죄인의 친구다'라고 말한다. 그러나 지혜는 그 자녀들로 인하여 옳다고 인정받는다."
20 Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn’ t repent.Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not.그때에 예수께서 자기의 능한 일들이 가장 많이 일어났던 마을들이 회개하지 않았으므로 그들을 꾸짖기 시작하셨다.
21 “ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes."고라신아, 너에게 화가 있다! 벳새다야, 너에게 화가 있다! 너희 가운데 일어난 능한 일들이 두로와 시돈에서 일어났더라면, 그들은 벌써 베옷을 입고 재를 뒤집어쓰고 회개하였을 것이다.
22 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you.그러나 내가 너희에게 말한다. 심판 날에 두로와 시돈이 너희보다 견디기가 더 나을 것이다.
23 You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until today.And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day.그리고 가버나움아, 네가 하늘까지 높아지겠느냐? 너는 음부에까지 내려갈 것이다. 너희 가운데 일어난 능한 일들이 소돔에서 일어났더라면, 그 성은 오늘까지 남아 있었을 것이다.
24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you.”But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.그러나 내가 너희에게 말한다. 심판 날에 소돔 땅이 너희보다 견디기가 더 나을 것이다."
25 At that time, Jesus answered, “ I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes:그때에 예수께서 대답하여 말씀하셨다. "하늘과 땅의 주인이신 아버지여, 내가 아버지께 감사드립니다. 이것들을 지혜롭고 총명한 사람들에게는 감추시고, 어린아이들에게는 드러내셨습니다.
26 Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.yea, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.그렇습니다, 아버지여. 이것이 아버지께서 보시기에 좋으셨습니다.
27 All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.내 아버지께서 모든 것을 내게 맡기셨습니다. 아버지 외에는 아무도 아들을 알지 못하고, 아들과 또 아들이 아버지를 드러내기 원하는 사람 외에는 아무도 아버지를 알지 못합니다.
28 “ Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."수고하고 무거운 짐을 진 사람들아, 다 내게로 오너라. 내가 너희를 쉬게 하겠다.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.내 멍에를 메고 내게서 배워라. 나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하니, 너희 영혼이 쉼을 얻을 것이다.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.내 멍에는 메기 쉽고, 내 짐은 가볍기 때문이다."
