1 Again Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, “ Go, count Israel and Judah.”And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.여호와께서 다시 이스라엘을 향해 진노하셨고, 다윗을 움직여 그들을 치게 하시며 이르셨다. "가서 이스라엘과 유다의 인구를 세어라."
2 The king said to Joab the captain of the army, who was with him, “ Now go back and forth through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and count the people, that I may know the sum of the people.”And the king said to Joab the captain of the host, who was with him, Go now to and fro through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the sum of the people.그래서 왕은 자기와 함께 있던 군대 지휘관 요압에게 말했다. "이제 단에서 브엘세바에 이르기까지 이스라엘의 모든 지파를 두루 다니며 백성을 세어라. 그 수를 내가 알고자 한다."
3 Joab said to the king, “ Now may Yahweh your God add to the people, however many they may be, one hundred times; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king delight in this thing?”And Joab said unto the king, Now Jehovah thy God add unto the people, how many soever they may be, a hundredfold; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?요압이 왕에게 말했다. "왕의 하나님 여호와께서 백성을 지금보다 백 배나 더하게 하시고, 내 주 왕의 눈이 그것을 보게 하시기를 바랍니다. 그런데 어찌하여 내 주 왕께서는 이 일을 기뻐하십니까?"
4 Notwithstanding, the king’s word prevailed against Joab and against the captains of the army. Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king to count the people of Israel.Notwithstanding, the king’s word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.그러나 왕의 명령이 요압과 군대 지휘관들을 이겼다. 그래서 요압과 군대 지휘관들은 이스라엘 백성을 세려고 왕 앞에서 나갔다.
5 They passed over the Jordan and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and to Jazer;And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and unto Jazer:그들은 요단강을 건너 아로엘, 곧 갓 골짜기 가운데 있는 성읍 오른편에 진을 치고, 야셀로 나아갔다.
6 then they came to Gilead and to the land of Tahtim Hodshi; and they came to Dan Jaan and around to Sidon,then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and they came to Dan-jaan, and round about to Sidon,그런 다음 그들은 길르앗과 닷딤홋시 땅에 이르렀고, 단야안에 갔다가 돌아서 시돈에 이르렀다.

9 Joab gave up the sum of the counting of the people to the king; and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men who drew the sword, and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.요압이 백성을 센 수를 왕에게 보고했다. 이스라엘에는 칼을 빼는 용맹한 사람이 팔십만 명이었고, 유다 사람은 오십만 명이었다.
10 David’s heart struck him after he had counted the people. David said to Yahweh, “ I have sinned greatly in that which I have done. But now, Yahweh, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.”And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in that which I have done: but now, O Jehovah, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.백성을 센 후에 다윗은 마음에 찔림을 받았다. 다윗이 여호와께 아뢰었다. "내가 행한 일로 크게 죄를 지었습니다. 그러나 이제 여호와여, 간구하오니 주의 종의 죄악을 없애 주십시오. 내가 심히 어리석은 일을 행했습니다."
11 When David rose up in the morning, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,And when David rose up in the morning, the word of Jehovah came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,다윗이 아침에 일어났을 때, 여호와의 말씀이 다윗의 선견자인 선지자 갓에게 임하여 이르셨다.
12 “ Go and speak to David, ‘ Yahweh says, “ I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”Go and speak unto David, Thus saith Jehovah, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee."가서 다윗에게 말하여라. '여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 내가 세 가지를 너에게 주겠으니, 그중 하나를 택하여라. 그러면 내가 그것을 너에게 행하겠다.'"
13 So Gad came to David, and told him, saying, “ Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days’ pestilence in your land? Now answer, and consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.”So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thy foes while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days’ pestilence in thy land? now advise thee, and consider what answer I shall return to him that sent me.그래서 갓이 다윗에게 와서 그에게 알리며 말했다. "왕의 땅에 칠 년 기근이 임하기를 원하십니까? 아니면 원수들이 왕을 쫓는 동안 석 달을 그들 앞에서 도망하기를 원하십니까? 아니면 왕의 땅에 사흘 동안 전염병이 임하기를 원하십니까? 이제 대답하셔서, 나를 보내신 분께 내가 무엇이라 답할지 헤아려 주십시오."
14 David said to Gad, “ I am in distress. Let us fall now into Yahweh’s hand, for his mercies are great. Let me not fall into man’s hand.”And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.다윗이 갓에게 말했다. "내가 심히 곤경에 처했구나. 이제 우리가 여호와의 손에 빠지자. 그분의 긍휼이 크기 때문이다. 사람의 손에는 빠지지 않게 하라."
15 So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel from the morning even to the appointed time; and seventy thousand men died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba.So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.그래서 여호와께서 아침부터 정하신 때까지 이스라엘에 전염병을 보내셨고, 단에서 브엘세바에 이르기까지 백성 가운데 칠만 명이 죽었다.
16 When the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Yahweh relented of the disaster, and said to the angel who destroyed the people, “ It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” Yahweh’s angel was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thy hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.천사가 예루살렘을 멸하려고 손을 펼쳤을 때, 여호와께서 그 재앙에 대하여 마음을 돌이키시고, 백성을 치는 천사에게 이르셨다. "충분하다. 이제 네 손을 거두어라." 여호와의 천사는 여부스 사람 아라우나의 타작마당 곁에 있었다.
17 David spoke to Yahweh when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said, “ Behold, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me, and against my father’s house.”And David spake unto Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.다윗이 백성을 치는 천사를 보고 여호와께 아뢰었다. "보십시오, 내가 죄를 지었고 내가 악을 행했습니다. 그러나 이 양들은 무슨 잘못을 했습니까? 청하오니 주의 손이 나와 내 아버지의 집을 치게 하십시오."
18 Gad came that day to David and said to him, “ Go up, build an altar to Yahweh on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.그날 갓이 다윗에게 와서 말했다. "올라가서 여부스 사람 아라우나의 타작마당에 여호와를 위한 제단을 쌓으십시오."
19 David went up according to the saying of Gad, as Yahweh commanded.And David went up according to the saying of Gad, as Jehovah commanded.다윗은 여호와께서 명하신 대로 갓의 말을 따라 올라갔다.
20 Araunah looked out, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him. Then Araunah went out and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.아라우나가 내다보다가 왕과 그의 신하들이 자기에게로 오는 것을 보았다. 아라우나가 나가서 왕 앞에 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절했다.
21 Araunah said, “ Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said, “ To buy your threshing floor, to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar unto Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.아라우나가 말했다. "어찌하여 내 주 왕께서 종에게 오셨습니까?" 다윗이 말했다. "당신의 타작마당을 사서 여호와께 제단을 쌓으려는 것이오. 그리하여 백성에게서 재앙이 그치게 하려는 것이오."
22 Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Behold, the cattle for the burnt offering, and the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood.And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, the oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood:아라우나가 다윗에게 말했다. "내 주 왕께서는 좋게 여기시는 것을 가져다가 드리십시오. 보십시오, 번제를 위한 소들이 있고, 땔감으로 쓸 타작 기구와 소의 멍에가 있습니다.
23 All this, O king, does Araunah give to the king.” Araunah said to the king, “ May Yahweh your God accept you.”all this, O king, doth Araunah give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.왕이시여, 이 모든 것을 아라우나가 왕께 드립니다." 아라우나가 왕에게 말했다. "왕의 하나님 여호와께서 왕을 기쁘게 받으시기를 바랍니다."
24 The king said to Araunah, “ No, but I will most certainly buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to Yahweh my God which cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will verily buy it of thee at a price; neither will I offer burnt-offerings unto Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.그러나 왕이 아라우나에게 말했다. "아니다. 내가 반드시 값을 치르고 당신에게서 사겠다. 값없이 얻은 것으로는 내 하나님 여호와께 번제를 드리지 않겠다." 그래서 다윗은 은 오십 세겔을 주고 타작마당과 소들을 샀다.
25 David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So Yahweh was entreated for the land, and the plague was removed from Israel.And David built there an altar unto Jehovah, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. So Jehovah was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.다윗이 거기에 여호와를 위한 제단을 쌓고 번제와 화목제를 드렸다. 이에 여호와께서 그 땅을 위한 간구를 들으셨고, 재앙이 이스라엘에서 그쳤다.
