20 When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.And when neither sun nor stars shone upon us for many days, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was now taken away.여러 날 동안 해도 별도 보이지 않고 적지 않은 폭풍이 우리를 짓누르니, 우리가 구원받으리라는 모든 희망이 이제 사라져 버렸다.
21 When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them and said, “Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete and have gotten this injury and loss.And when they had been long without food, then Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have set sail from Crete, and have gotten this injury and loss.사람들이 오래도록 먹지 못하였을 때, 바울이 그들 가운데 일어서서 말하였다. "여러분, 마땅히 내 말을 들어 크레타에서 떠나지 않았어야 했습니다. 그랬다면 이런 상함과 손실을 면하였을 것입니다.
22 Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.And now I exhort you to be of good cheer; for there shall be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.그러나 이제 나는 여러분에게 기운을 내라고 권합니다. 여러분 가운데 목숨을 잃을 사람은 없고, 다만 배만 잃을 것입니다.
23 For there stood by me this night an angel, belonging to the God whose I am and whom I serve,For there stood by me this night an angel of the God whose I am, whom also I serve,내가 속한 하나님, 곧 내가 섬기는 그분의 천사가 이 밤에 내 곁에 서서
24 saying, ‘Don’ t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must stand before Cæsar: and lo, God hath granted thee all them that sail with thee.말하기를 '바울아, 두려워하지 말라. 너는 반드시 카이사르 앞에 서야 한다. 보라, 하나님께서 너와 함께 항해하는 모든 사람을 네게 주셨다' 하였습니다.
25 Therefore, sirs, cheer up! For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even so as it hath been spoken unto me.그러므로 여러분, 기운을 내십시오! 나는 내게 말씀하신 그대로 이루어질 것을 하나님을 믿습니다.
26 But we must run aground on a certain island.”But we must be cast upon a certain island.다만 우리는 어떤 섬에 좌초하게 될 것입니다."

28 They took soundings and found twenty fathoms. After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms.and they sounded, and found twenty fathoms; and after a little space, they sounded again, and found fifteen fathoms.그들이 물 깊이를 재어 보니 스무 길이었고, 조금 더 가서 다시 재어 보니 열다섯 길이었다.
29 Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.And fearing lest haply we should be cast ashore on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for the day.바위가 많은 곳에 좌초할까 두려워하여, 그들은 고물에서 닻 넷을 내리고 날이 새기를 기다렸다.

31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, “ Unless these stay in the ship, you can’ t be saved.”Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.바울이 백부장과 군인들에게 말하였다. "이 사람들이 배에 머물러 있지 않으면, 여러분은 구원받을 수 없습니다."

34 Therefore I beg you to take some food, for this is for your safety; for not a hair will perish from any of your heads.”Wherefore I beseech you to take some food: for this is for your safety: for there shall not a hair perish from the head of any of you.그러므로 음식을 좀 드시기를 간청합니다. 이는 여러분의 안전을 위함입니다. 여러분 가운데 누구도 머리카락 하나 잃지 않을 것입니다."
35 When he had said this and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all; then he broke it and began to eat.And when he had said this, and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all; and he brake it, and began to eat.바울은 이렇게 말하고 떡을 들어 모두 앞에서 하나님께 감사를 드린 뒤, 떼어 먹기 시작하였다.
36 Then they all cheered up, and they also took food.Then were they all of good cheer, and themselves also took food.그러자 모두가 기운을 내어 그들도 음식을 먹었다.
37 In all, we were two hundred seventy-six souls on the ship.And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.배에 탄 우리는 모두 이백칠십육 명이었다.

40 Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. 41 But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. 42 The soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.군인들은 죄수들 가운데 누구도 헤엄쳐 도망하지 못하도록 그들을 죽이려고 의논하였다.
43 But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stayed them from their purpose; and commanded that they who could swim should cast themselves overboard, and get first to the land;그러나 백부장은 바울을 구하고자 하여 그들의 뜻을 막고, 헤엄칠 수 있는 사람들은 먼저 바다에 뛰어들어 육지로 나아가게 하고
44 and the rest should follow, some on planks and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.and the rest, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. And so it came to pass, that they all escaped safe to the land.나머지는 더러는 널빤지로, 더러는 배의 다른 물건으로 뒤따르게 하였다. 그리하여 모두가 안전하게 육지에 이르게 되었다.
