2 The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.The same was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.루스드라와 이고니온에 있는 형제들이 그에 대하여 좋게 증언하였다.

5 So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.그리하여 여러 교회가 믿음 안에서 굳건해지고, 날마다 그 수가 더하여 갔다.
6 When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden of the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;그들이 브루기아와 갈라디아 지방을 지나갔으나, 성령께서 아시아에서 말씀 전하는 것을 막으셨다.
7 When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn’ t allow them.and when they were come over against Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia; and the Spirit of Jesus suffered them not;그들이 무시아 가까이에 이르러 비두니아로 들어가려 하였으나, 예수의 영께서 허락하지 않으셨다.
8 Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.그래서 그들은 무시아를 지나 드로아로 내려갔다.
9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him and saying, “ Come over into Macedonia and help us.”And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: There was a man of Macedonia standing, beseeching him, and saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.밤에 바울에게 한 환상이 나타났다. 마케도니아 사람 하나가 서서 그에게 간청하며 "마케도니아로 건너와 우리를 도와주십시오" 하고 말하였다.
10 When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them.And when he had seen the vision, straightway we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel unto them.바울이 그 환상을 본 후에, 우리는 곧바로 마케도니아로 떠나기를 힘썼다. 주께서 그들에게 복음을 전하라고 우리를 부르신 것이라고 확신하였기 때문이다.

12 and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the foremost of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.and from thence to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a Roman colony: and we were in this city tarrying certain days.거기서 마케도니아의 한 성이며 그 지방의 으뜸가는 성이요 로마의 식민지인 빌립보에 이르렀다. 우리는 이 성에서 며칠을 머물렀다.
13 On the Sabbath day we went outside of the city by a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.And on the sabbath day we went forth without the gate by a river side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down, and spake unto the women that were come together.안식일에 우리는 성문 밖 강가로 나갔는데, 거기에 기도하는 곳이 있으리라 생각하였기 때문이다. 우리는 앉아서 함께 모인 여인들에게 말씀을 전하였다.
14 A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us. The Lord opened her heart to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul.두아디라 성 출신으로 자색 옷감을 파는 루디아라는 한 여인이 있었는데, 그는 하나님을 경외하는 사람이었다. 그가 우리의 말을 듣고 있었고, 주께서 그의 마음을 여시어 바울이 전하는 말씀에 귀를 기울이게 하셨다.
15 When she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “ If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.그와 그의 집안 사람들이 세례를 받은 후에, 그가 우리에게 간청하며 "당신들이 나를 주께 신실한 사람으로 여기신다면, 내 집에 들어와 머무르십시오" 하고 말하였다. 그리하여 그가 우리를 권하여 머물게 하였다.
16 As we were going to prayer, a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain maid having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by soothsaying.우리가 기도하는 곳으로 가는데, 점치는 영에 사로잡힌 한 여종이 우리를 만났다. 그는 점을 쳐서 자기 주인들에게 많은 이익을 가져다주는 자였다.
17 Following Paul and us, she cried out, “ These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us a way of salvation!”The same following after Paul and us cried out, saying, These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim unto you the way of salvation.그가 바울과 우리를 따라오며 외쳐 말하기를 "이 사람들은 지극히 높으신 하나님의 종들로서, 우리에게 구원의 길을 전하는 자들이다" 하였다.
18 She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “ I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” It came out that very hour.And this she did for many days. But Paul, being sore troubled, turned and said to the spirit, I charge thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out that very hour.그가 여러 날을 이렇게 하니, 바울이 심히 괴로워하여 돌아서서 그 영에게 말하기를 "내가 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 네게 명하노니 그에게서 나오라" 하였다. 그러자 그 영이 바로 그 시각에 나왔다.
19 But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they laid hold on Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers,그러나 그 여종의 주인들은 자기들의 이익에 대한 소망이 사라진 것을 보고, 바울과 실라를 붙잡아 장터로 끌고 가서 관원들 앞에 데려갔다.
20 When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “ These men, being Jews, are agitating our cityand when they had brought them unto the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,그들을 행정관들에게 데려가서 말하기를 "이 사람들은 유대 사람들로서 우리 성을 소란하게 하며,
21 and advocate customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans.”and set forth customs which it is not lawful for us to receive, or to observe, being Romans.우리가 로마 사람으로서 받아들이거나 지키는 것이 옳지 않은 풍속을 전하고 있습니다" 하였다.
22 The multitude rose up together against them and the magistrates tore their clothes from them, then commanded them to be beaten with rods.And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods.무리가 함께 일어나 그들을 거슬러 들고일어나니, 행정관들이 그들의 옷을 찢어 벗기고 매로 치라고 명령하였다.
23 When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely.And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:그들에게 많은 매를 친 후에 옥에 가두고, 간수에게 그들을 단단히 지키라고 명하였다.
24 Having received such a command, he threw them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks.who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.간수는 이런 명령을 받고 그들을 깊숙한 감방에 가두고, 그들의 발을 차꼬에 채워 두었다.
25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them;그런데 한밤중쯤에 바울과 실라가 기도하며 하나님께 찬송을 부르니, 죄수들이 듣고 있었다.
26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were loosened.and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison-house were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened; and every one’s bands were loosed.갑자기 큰 지진이 일어나 감옥의 터가 흔들렸고, 곧 모든 문이 열리며 모든 사람의 결박이 풀렸다.
27 The jailer, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.And the jailor, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.간수가 잠에서 깨어 옥문들이 열린 것을 보고, 죄수들이 도망친 줄로 생각하여 칼을 빼어 스스로 목숨을 끊으려 하였다.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, “Don’t harm yourself, for we are all here!”But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.그러나 바울이 큰 소리로 외쳐 말하기를 "네 몸을 해치지 말라. 우리가 다 여기 있다" 하였다.
29 He called for lights, sprang in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas,And he called for lights and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,간수가 불을 청하여 뛰어 들어가서, 떨면서 바울과 실라 앞에 엎드렸다.
30 brought them out, and said, “ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?그리고 그들을 데리고 나와 말하기를 "선생님들이여, 내가 구원을 받으려면 무엇을 하여야 합니까?" 하였다.
31 They said, “ Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.그들이 말하기를 "주 예수 그리스도를 믿으라. 그리하면 너와 네 집안이 구원을 받으리라" 하였다.
32 They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.And they spake the word of the Lord unto him, with all that were in his house.그리고 그들은 주의 말씀을 그와 그의 집에 있는 모든 사람에게 전하였다.
33 He took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptized, he and all his household.And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately.간수는 그 밤 바로 그 시각에 그들을 데려다가 그들의 상처를 씻어 주고, 그와 그의 온 집안이 즉시 세례를 받았다.

35 But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, “ Let those men go.”But when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.날이 밝자 행정관들이 부하들을 보내며 "그 사람들을 놓아주라" 하였다.
36 The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “ The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out and go in peace.”And the jailor reported the words to Paul, saying, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore come forth, and go in peace.간수가 이 말을 바울에게 전하여 말하기를 "행정관들이 사람을 보내어 당신들을 놓아주라 하였으니, 이제 나와서 평안히 가십시오" 하였다.
37 But Paul said to them, “ They have beaten us publicly without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most certainly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!”But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison; and do they now cast us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and bring us out.그러나 바울이 그들에게 말하기를 "그들은 로마 사람인 우리를 재판도 없이 공개적으로 매질하고 옥에 가두었는데, 이제 와서 우리를 몰래 내보내려 하는가? 아니다, 결코 그럴 수 없다. 그들이 직접 와서 우리를 데리고 나가게 하라" 하였다.
38 The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,And the serjeants reported these words unto the magistrates: and they feared when they heard that they were Romans;부하들이 이 말을 행정관들에게 전하니, 그들이 그들이 로마 사람이라는 말을 듣고 두려워하였다.
39 and they came and begged them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.and they came and besought them; and when they had brought them out, they asked them to go away from the city.그래서 그들이 와서 사정하고, 그들을 데리고 나와서 그 성을 떠나 줄 것을 청하였다.
40 They went out of the prison and entered into Lydia’s house. When they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them, then departed.And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.그들은 옥에서 나와 루디아의 집으로 들어가서, 형제들을 만나 그들을 격려하고 떠났다.
