On that day they read in the book of Moses in the hearing of the people; and it was found written in it that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God forever,On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God for ever,그날에 사람들이 백성이 듣는 가운데 모세의 책을 읽었는데, 거기에 암몬 사람과 모압 사람은 영원히 하나님의 총회에 들어오지 못한다고 기록되어 있는 것을 발견했다.
because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them; however, our God turned the curse into a blessing.because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, to curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
It came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel. And it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God, being allied unto Tobiah,이 일이 있기 전에, 우리 하나님의 성전 방들을 맡아 관리하던 제사장 엘리아십이 도비야와 가까운 사이가 되어,
had prepared for him a great room, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, the singers, and the gatekeepers; and the wave offerings for the priests.had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meal-offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the heave-offerings for the priests.
But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king; and after some days I asked leave of the king,But in all this time I was not at Jerusalem; for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went unto the king: and after certain days asked I leave of the king,그러나 이 모든 일이 벌어지는 동안 나는 예루살렘에 있지 않았다.
and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house.and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah’s household stuff out of the room. And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the chamber.
Then I commanded, and they cleansed the rooms. I brought into them the vessels of God’s house, with the meal offerings and the frankincense again. Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meal-offerings and the frankincense.
I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them, so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had each fled to his field. And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “ Why is God’s house forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place. Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the treasuries. Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.
I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their business was to distribute to their brothers. And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their business was to distribute unto their brethren.
Remember me, my God, concerning this, and don’t wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its observances.Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the observances thereof.
In those days I saw some men treading wine presses on the Sabbath in Judah, bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; and I testified against them in the day in which they sold food.In those days saw I in Judah some men treading winepresses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses therewith; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.
Some men of Tyre also lived there, who brought in fish and all kinds of wares, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, who brought in fish, and all manner of wares, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “ What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day? Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
Didn’t your fathers do this, and didn’t our God bring all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
It came to pass that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. I set some of my servants over the gates, so that no burden should be brought in on the Sabbath day.And it came to pass that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I over the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares camped outside of Jerusalem once or twice. So the merchants and sellers of all kind of wares lodged without Jerusalem once or twice.
Then I testified against them, and said to them, “ Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they didn’t come on the Sabbath. Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath.
I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me for this also, my God, and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness. And I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember unto me, O my God, this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy lovingkindness.
In those days I also saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab;In those days also saw I the Jews that had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:또 그 무렵에 나는 아스돗과 암몬과 모압 여자들과 결혼한 유다 사람들을 보았다.
and their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.and their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.
I contended with them, cursed them, struck certain of them, plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, “ You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves. And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.
Didn’t Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin.Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did foreign women cause to sin.
Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?”Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?
One of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite; therefore I chased him from me.And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
Thus I cleansed them from all foreigners and appointed duties for the priests and for the Levites, everyone in his work; Thus cleansed I them from all foreigners, and appointed charges for the priests and for the Levites, every one in his work;이렇게 나는 그들을 모든 이방 사람에게서 깨끗하게 하고, 제사장들과 레위 사람들에게 저마다 자기 일에서 맡을 직무를 정해 주었다.
and for the wood offering, at appointed times, and for the first fruits. Remember me, my God, for good.and for the wood-offering, at times appointed, and for the first-fruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.
