1 Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?What advantage then hath the Jew? or what is the profit of circumcision?그렇다면 유대 사람에게 무슨 나은 점이 있습니까? 또 할례를 받는 것에 무슨 유익이 있습니까?
2 Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the revelations of God.Much every way: first of all, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God.모든 면에서 많이 있습니다! 무엇보다도, 그들에게는 하나님의 말씀이 맡겨졌기 때문입니다.
3 For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?For what if some were without faith? shall their want of faith make of none effect the faithfulness of God?그들 가운데 어떤 이들이 믿지 않았다 한들 어떻겠습니까? 그들의 믿지 않음이 하나님의 신실하심을 무효로 만들겠습니까?
4 May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “ that you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.”God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment.결코 그럴 수 없습니다! 오히려 모든 사람은 거짓말쟁이일지라도 하나님은 참되시다고 인정받으셔야 합니다. 기록된 바와 같습니다. "주께서 말씀하실 때에 의롭다 함을 받으시고, 심판을 받으실 때에 이기시려는 것입니다."
5 But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.But if our unrighteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who visiteth with wrath? ( I speak after the manner of men.)그러나 우리의 불의가 하나님의 의를 드러낸다면 우리가 무엇이라 말하겠습니까? 진노를 내리시는 하나님이 불의하신 것입니까? 나는 사람들이 하는 방식으로 말하는 것입니다.
6 May it never be! For then how will God judge the world?God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?결코 그럴 수 없습니다! 만일 그렇다면 하나님이 어떻게 세상을 심판하시겠습니까?
7 For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?만일 나의 거짓말로 인해 하나님의 진실이 더욱 풍성해져서 그분의 영광이 되었다면, 어찌하여 나는 여전히 죄인으로 심판을 받습니까?
8 Why not ( as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say ), “ Let’s do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.and why not ( as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say ), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.또 "우리가 악을 행하여 선이 오게 하자"라고 (우리가 비방을 받아 그렇게 말한다고 어떤 이들이 주장하는 것처럼) 어찌하여 말하지 않겠습니까? 그렇게 말하는 자들은 정죄받는 것이 마땅합니다.
9 What then? Are we better than they? No, in no way. For we previously warned both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we before laid to the charge both of Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin;그러면 어떻습니까? 우리가 그들보다 낫습니까? 아닙니다, 결코 그렇지 않습니다. 우리는 유대 사람이나 그리스 사람이나 모두가 죄 아래 있다고 이미 경고하였기 때문입니다.
10 As it is written, “ There is no one righteous; no, not one.as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;기록된 바와 같습니다. "의로운 사람은 없다. 한 사람도 없다.
11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God.There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God;깨닫는 사람도 없고, 하나님을 찾는 사람도 없다.
12 They have all turned away. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, no, not so much as one.”They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not so much as one:모두가 곁길로 빠져서 다 함께 쓸모없게 되었다. 선을 행하는 사람이 없다. 단 한 사람도 없다."
13 “ Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit.” “ The poison of vipers is under their lips.”Their throat is an open sepulchre; With their tongues they have used deceit: The poison of asps is under their lips:"그들의 목구멍은 열린 무덤이며, 그들은 혀로 속임을 일삼는다." "그들의 입술 아래에는 독사의 독이 있고,"
14 “ Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:"그들의 입은 저주와 독설로 가득 차 있다."
15 “ Their feet are swift to shed blood.Their feet are swift to shed blood;"그들의 발은 피를 흘리는 데 빠르며,
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways.Destruction and misery are in their ways;파멸과 비참함이 그들의 길에 있고,
17 The way of peace, they haven’t known.”And the way of peace have they not known:평화의 길을 그들은 알지 못하였다."
18 “ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”There is no fear of God before their eyes."그들의 눈앞에는 하나님을 두려워하는 마음이 없다."
19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:이제 우리는 율법이 말하는 모든 것이 율법 아래 있는 사람들에게 하는 말임을 압니다. 이는 모든 입을 막고, 온 세상이 하나님의 심판 아래 놓이게 하려는 것입니다.
20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.율법의 행위로는 어떤 육체도 하나님 앞에서 의롭다 함을 받을 수 없기 때문입니다. 율법으로는 죄를 깨닫게 될 뿐입니다.
21 But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets;But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;그러나 이제는 율법과 상관없이 하나님의 의가 나타났으며, 율법과 선지자들이 이를 증언하고 있습니다.
22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction,even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction;곧 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 말미암아 믿는 모든 사람에게 미치는 하나님의 의입니다. 거기에는 차별이 없습니다.
23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;모든 사람이 죄를 지어 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하였기 때문입니다.
24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:그들은 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 구속을 통하여 하나님의 은혜로 값없이 의롭다 함을 받았습니다.
25 whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance;whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God;하나님은 그리스도를 화목제물로 세우셨으니, 이는 그분의 피를 믿는 믿음을 통하여 이루어진 것입니다. 이렇게 하신 것은 하나님이 오래 참으심으로 이전에 지은 죄들을 그냥 넘기심으로써 자신의 의를 나타내시려는 것이었습니다.
26 to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time, that he might himself be just and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus.for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus.곧 이때에 자신의 의를 나타내시어, 자신이 의로우시며 또한 예수를 믿는 사람을 의롭다 하시는 분이심을 보이시려는 것입니다.
27 Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith.그렇다면 자랑할 것이 어디에 있습니까? 자랑은 배제되었습니다. 어떤 법으로 그렇게 되었습니까? 행위의 법으로입니까? 아닙니다. 오직 믿음의 법으로입니다.
28 We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.그러므로 우리는 사람이 율법의 행위와 상관없이 믿음으로 의롭다 함을 받는다고 주장합니다.
29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn’ t he the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,Or is God the God of Jews only? is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also:하나님은 유대 사람만의 하나님이십니까? 이방 사람의 하나님도 되시지 않습니까? 그렇습니다, 이방 사람의 하나님도 되십니다.
30 since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.참으로 하나님은 한 분이시니, 그분은 할례받은 사람을 믿음으로, 할례받지 않은 사람도 믿음으로 의롭다 하실 것입니다.
31 Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! No, we establish the law.Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid: nay, we establish the law.그러면 우리가 믿음으로 율법을 무효로 만드는 것입니까? 결코 그럴 수 없습니다! 오히려 우리는 율법을 굳게 세웁니다.
