1 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves.Now we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.그러므로 믿음이 강한 우리는 자기 자신을 기쁘게 하지 말고 마땅히 믿음이 약한 사람들의 약점을 짊어져야 합니다.
2 Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up.Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, unto edifying.우리 각 사람은 이웃을 기쁘게 하되, 선을 이루어 그를 세워 주는 일이 되게 해야 합니다.
3 For even Christ didn’ t please himself. But, as it is written, “ The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”For Christ also pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell upon me.그리스도께서도 자기 자신을 기쁘게 하지 않으셨습니다. 오히려 기록된 대로 "주를 모욕하는 자들의 모욕이 내게 떨어졌습니다"라고 하셨습니다.
4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the scriptures we might have hope.무엇이든지 전에 기록된 것은 우리를 가르치기 위하여 기록된 것이니, 이는 우리가 성경이 주는 인내와 위로를 통하여 소망을 품게 하려는 것입니다.
5 Now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,Now the God of patience and of comfort grant you to be of the same mind one with another according to Christ Jesus:인내와 위로의 하나님께서 여러분이 그리스도 예수를 따라 서로 같은 마음을 품게 해 주시기를 빕니다.
6 that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.that with one accord ye may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.그리하여 여러분이 한마음과 한입으로 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 되기를 바랍니다.
7 Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God.Wherefore receive ye one another, even as Christ also received you, to the glory of God.그러므로 그리스도께서 하나님의 영광을 위하여 여러분을 받아 주신 것처럼, 여러분도 서로를 받아 주십시오.
8 Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers,For I say that Christ hath been made a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given unto the fathers,내가 말하노니, 그리스도께서는 하나님의 진실하심을 위하여 할례 받은 자들의 종이 되셨습니다. 이는 조상들에게 주신 약속들을 확증하시고,
9 and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “ Therefore I will give praise to you among the Gentiles and sing to your name.”and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, Therefore will I give praise unto thee among the Gentiles, And sing unto thy name.또 이방 사람들이 하나님의 긍휼하심을 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하시려는 것입니다. 기록된 대로 "그러므로 내가 이방 사람들 가운데서 주께 찬송을 드리고, 주의 이름을 노래하겠습니다"라고 하였습니다.
10 Again he says, “ Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.또 이르기를 "너희 이방 사람들아, 그분의 백성과 함께 즐거워하라"고 하였습니다.
11 Again, “ Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Let all the peoples praise him.”And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; And let all the peoples praise him.또 이르기를 "모든 이방 사람들아, 여호와를 찬양하라. 모든 백성들아, 그분을 찬송하라"고 하였습니다.
12 Again, Isaiah says, “ There will be the root of Jesse, he who arises to rule over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will hope.”And again, Isaiah saith, There shall be the root of Jesse, And he that ariseth to rule over the Gentiles; On him shall the Gentiles hope.또 이사야가 말하기를 "이새의 뿌리가 있어, 이방 사람들을 다스리려고 일어나리니, 이방 사람들이 그에게 소망을 두리라"고 하였습니다.
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.소망의 하나님께서 믿음 안에서 여러분에게 모든 기쁨과 평강을 충만하게 채워 주셔서, 성령의 능력으로 여러분이 소망 가운데 넘치게 해 주시기를 빕니다.
14 I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others.And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.나의 형제들이여, 나도 여러분에 대하여 확신합니다. 여러분 자신이 선함이 가득하고 모든 지식으로 충만하여, 서로 권면할 수 있는 사람들임을 말입니다.
15 But I write the more boldly to you in part as reminding you, because of the grace that was given to me by God,But I write the more boldly unto you in some measure, as putting you again in remembrance, because of the grace that was given me of God,그러나 내가 어떤 부분에서는 더욱 담대하게 여러분에게 썼으니, 이는 하나님께서 내게 주신 은혜로 말미암아 여러분에게 다시 일깨우려는 것입니다.
16 that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.that I should be a minister of Christ Jesus unto the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.곧 내가 이방 사람들을 위하여 그리스도 예수의 일꾼이 되어, 하나님의 복음을 제사장처럼 섬기는 것입니다. 이는 이방 사람들이 드려지는 제물이 성령으로 거룩하게 되어 하나님께서 받으실 만한 것이 되게 하려는 것입니다.
17 I have therefore my boasting in Christ Jesus in things pertaining to God.I have therefore my glorying in Christ Jesus in things pertaining to God.그러므로 나는 하나님께 속한 일에 있어서 그리스도 예수 안에서 자랑할 것이 있습니다.
18 For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Christ worked through me for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,For I will not dare to speak of any things save those which Christ wrought through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,그리스도께서 나를 통하여 이루신 일 외에는 내가 감히 어떤 것도 말하지 않으려 합니다. 그것은 말과 행위로,
19 in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God’s Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Christ;in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and round about even unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ;표적과 기사의 능력과 하나님의 영의 능력으로 이방 사람들을 순종하게 하신 일입니다. 그리하여 나는 예루살렘에서부터 두루 다니며 일루리곤까지 그리스도의 복음을 남김없이 전하였습니다.
20 yes, making it my aim to preach the Good News, not where Christ was already named, that I might not build on another’s foundation.yea, making it my aim so to preach the gospel, not where Christ was already named, that I might not build upon another man’s foundation;또한 내가 목표로 삼은 것은, 그리스도의 이름이 이미 불려진 곳에서는 복음을 전하지 않는 것이니, 이는 내가 다른 사람이 놓은 터 위에 세우지 않으려는 것입니다.
21 But, as it is written, “ They will see, to whom no news of him came. They who haven’t heard will understand.”but, as it is written, They shall see, to whom no tidings of him came, And they who have not heard shall understand.오히려 기록된 대로 "그분에 관한 소식을 받지 못한 자들이 볼 것이요, 듣지 못한 자들이 깨달으리라" 하였습니다.
22 Therefore also I was hindered these many times from coming to you,Wherefore also I was hindered these many times from coming to you:그러므로 나는 여러 번 여러분에게 가는 일을 방해받았습니다.
23 but now, no longer having any place in these regions, and having these many years a longing to come to you,but now, having no more any place in these regions, and having these many years a longing to come unto you,그러나 이제는 이 지방들에 더 이상 일할 곳이 없고, 또 여러 해 전부터 여러분에게 가기를 간절히 바라 왔으므로,
24 whenever I travel to Spain, I will come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while.whensoever I go unto Spain ( for I hope to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first in some measure I shall have been satisfied with your company)—내가 스페인으로 갈 때에 여러분에게 들르려 합니다. 가는 길에 여러분을 만나기를 바라며, 먼저 잠시나마 여러분과 함께 즐거운 교제를 나눈 뒤에 여러분의 도움으로 그곳까지 보내심을 받기를 바랍니다.
25 But now, I say, I am going to Jerusalem, serving the saints.but now, I say, I go unto Jerusalem, ministering unto the saints.그러나 지금은 성도들을 섬기기 위하여 예루살렘으로 가려 합니다.
26 For it has been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are at Jerusalem.For it hath been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints that are at Jerusalem.이는 마케도니아와 아가야 사람들이 예루살렘에 있는 성도들 가운데 가난한 이들을 위하여 기쁜 마음으로 얼마를 연보하기로 하였기 때문입니다.
27 Yes, it has been their good pleasure, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it to them also to serve them in material things.Yea, it hath been their good pleasure; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it to them also to minister unto them in carnal things.참으로 그들이 기쁜 마음으로 그렇게 하였으니, 사실 그들은 빚진 자들입니다. 이방 사람들이 그들의 영적인 것에 참여하였으면, 마땅히 육적인 것으로 그들을 섬길 의무가 있기 때문입니다.
28 When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by way of you to Spain.When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by you unto Spain.그러므로 내가 이 일을 마치고 이 열매를 그들에게 확실히 전달한 뒤에, 여러분이 있는 곳을 거쳐 스페인으로 가려 합니다.
29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of the Good News of Christ.And I know that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of Christ.내가 여러분에게 갈 때에는 그리스도의 복음의 충만한 복을 가지고 갈 줄 압니다.
30 Now I beg you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;형제들이여, 내가 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아, 또 성령의 사랑으로 여러분에게 간청합니다. 여러분이 나를 위하여 하나님께 기도하는 일에 나와 함께 힘써 주십시오.
31 that I may be delivered from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,that I may be delivered from them that are disobedient in Judæa, and that my ministration which I have for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints;곧 내가 유대에서 순종하지 않는 자들에게서 건짐을 받고, 또 예루살렘을 위한 나의 섬김이 성도들에게 받아들여지도록,
32 that I may come to you in joy through the will of God, and together with you, find rest.that I may come unto you in joy through the will of God, and together with you find rest.그리하여 내가 하나님의 뜻을 따라 기쁨으로 여러분에게 가서, 여러분과 함께 안식을 누리게 되도록 기도해 주십시오.
