1 Then David came to Nob to Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said to him, “Why are you alone, and no man with you?”Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?다윗이 놉으로 가서 제사장 아히멜렉을 찾아갔다. 아히멜렉이 떨면서 다윗을 맞으며 그에게 물었다. "어찌하여 당신은 혼자이고, 함께한 사람이 아무도 없습니까?"
2 David said to Ahimelech the priest, “ The king has commanded me to do something, and has said to me, ‘Let no one know anything about the business about which I send you, and what I have commanded you. I have sent the young men to a certain place.’And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know anything of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed the young men to such and such a place.다윗이 제사장 아히멜렉에게 말했다. "왕께서 내게 한 가지 일을 맡기시면서 이렇게 이르셨소. '내가 너를 보내는 일과 내가 네게 명령한 것에 대하여 아무도 알지 못하게 하여라.' 그래서 내가 젊은이들에게는 이러이러한 곳에서 만나기로 일러 두었소.
3 Now therefore what is under your hand? Please give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatever is available.”Now therefore what is under thy hand? give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatsoever there is present.그러니 이제 당신의 손에 무엇이 있소? 떡 다섯 덩이를 내 손에 주시오. 아니면 무엇이든 여기 있는 것을 주시오."
4 The priest answered David, and said, “ I have no common bread, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.”And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.제사장이 다윗에게 대답하여 말했다. "내 손에 보통 떡은 없고 거룩한 떡만 있소. 다만 젊은이들이 여자를 가까이하지 않았어야 하오."
5 David answered the priest, and said to him, “ Truly, women have been kept from us as usual these three days. When I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was only a common journey. How much more then today shall their vessels be holy?”And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; when I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then to-day shall their vessels be holy?다윗이 제사장에게 대답하여 말했다. "참으로 우리는 사흘 동안 여자를 멀리하였소. 내가 길을 떠나올 때에도 젊은이들의 몸이 거룩하였소. 이번이 비록 평범한 여정일지라도 그러하거늘, 하물며 오늘은 그들의 몸이 얼마나 더 거룩하겠소?"
6 So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the show bread that was taken from before Yahweh, to be replaced with hot bread in the day when it was taken away.So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before Jehovah, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.그래서 제사장이 그에게 거룩한 떡을 주었다. 거기에는 진설병 외에는 다른 떡이 없었기 때문이다. 그 떡은 여호와 앞에서 물려 낸 것으로, 물려 내는 날에 더운 떡으로 바꾸어 놓는 것이었다.
7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before Yahweh; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the best of the herdsmen who belonged to Saul.Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before Jehovah; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of the herdsmen that belonged to Saul.그날 거기에는 사울의 신하 가운데 한 사람이 여호와 앞에 머물러 있었는데, 그의 이름은 에돔 사람 도엑이었다. 그는 사울에게 속한 목자들의 우두머리였다.
8 David said to Ahimelech, “Isn’t there here under your hand spear or sword? For I haven’t brought my sword or my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.”And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thy hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.다윗이 아히멜렉에게 말했다. "여기 당신의 손에 창이나 칼이 없소? 왕의 일이 급하여 내가 칼도 무기도 가지고 오지 못하였소."
9 The priest said, “ Behold, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you would like to take that, take it, for there is no other except that here.” David said, “ There is none like that. Give it to me.”And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the vale of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it; for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.제사장이 말했다. "당신이 엘라 골짜기에서 죽인 블레셋 사람 골리앗의 칼이 에봇 뒤에 보자기에 싸여 여기에 있소. 그것을 가지려거든 가져가시오. 여기에는 그것 말고는 다른 것이 없소." 다윗이 말했다. "그만한 것이 없소. 그것을 내게 주시오."

11 The servants of Achish said to him, “Isn’t this David the king of the land? Didn’t they sing to one another about him in dances, saying, ‘ Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?”And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands?아기스의 신하들이 그에게 말했다. "이 사람은 그 땅의 왕 다윗이 아닙니까? 사람들이 춤추며 서로 노래하기를 '사울이 죽인 자는 수천 명이요, 다윗이 죽인 자는 수만 명이라'고 하지 않았습니까?"
12 David laid up these words in his heart, and was very afraid of Achish the king of Gath.And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.다윗이 이 말을 마음에 새기며 가드 왕 아기스를 몹시 두려워하였다.
13 He changed his behavior before them and pretended to be insane in their hands, and scribbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down on his beard.And he changed his behavior before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.그래서 그는 그들 앞에서 행동을 바꾸어 그들의 손에서 미친 척하며, 성문 문짝에 마구 그어 대고 침을 수염에 흘렸다.
14 Then Achish said to his servants, “ Look, you see the man is insane. Why then have you brought him to me?Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad; wherefore then have ye brought him to me?그러자 아기스가 신하들에게 말했다. "보아라, 이 사람이 미친 자가 아니냐. 어찌하여 그를 내게 데려왔느냐?
15 Do I lack madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Should this fellow come into my house?”Do I lack madmen, that ye have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?내게 미친 자가 부족하여 너희가 이 자를 데려와 내 앞에서 미친 짓을 하게 하느냐? 이런 자가 내 집에 들어와야 하겠느냐?"
