1 Yahweh’s ark was in the country of the Philistines seven months.And the ark of Jehovah was in the country of the Philistines seven months.여호와의 궤가 블레셋 사람들의 땅에 일곱 달 동안 있었다.
2 The Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, “ What shall we do with Yahweh’s ark? Show us how we should send it to its place.”And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do with the ark of Jehovah? show us wherewith we shall send it to its place.블레셋 사람들이 제사장들과 점치는 자들을 불러 말하였다. "우리가 여호와의 궤를 어떻게 해야 하겠습니까? 그것을 그 본래의 자리로 돌려보낼 방법을 우리에게 알려 주십시오."
3 They said, “ If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, don’t send it empty; but by all means return a trespass offering to him. Then you will be healed, and it will be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.”And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but by all means return him a trespass-offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.그들이 말하였다. "만일 이스라엘 하나님의 궤를 돌려보내려거든 빈손으로 보내지 말고, 반드시 속건제물을 함께 드려 보내십시오. 그러면 여러분이 나음을 얻을 것이며, 또 그분의 손이 어찌하여 여러분에게서 떠나지 않았는지도 알게 될 것입니다."
4 Then they said, “ What should the trespass offering be which we shall return to him?” They said, “ Five golden tumors and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.Then said they, What shall be the trespass-offering which we shall return to him? And they said, Five golden tumors, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.그러자 그들이 물었다. "우리가 그분에게 돌려보낼 속건제물은 무엇으로 해야 합니까?" 그들이 대답하였다. "블레셋 사람의 통치자들의 수효대로, 금으로 만든 종기 다섯과 금으로 만든 쥐 다섯이니, 이는 한 가지 재앙이 여러분 모두와 여러분의 통치자들에게 임했기 때문입니다.
5 Therefore you shall make images of your tumors and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will release his hand from you, from your gods, and from your land.Wherefore ye shall make images of your tumors, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.그러므로 여러분의 종기 모양과 땅을 망치는 쥐 모양을 만들고, 이스라엘의 하나님께 영광을 돌리십시오. 어쩌면 그분이 여러분과 여러분의 신들과 여러분의 땅에서 그 손을 가볍게 거두실지도 모릅니다.
6 Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had worked wonderfully among them, didn’t they let the people go, and they departed?Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?어찌하여 여러분은 이집트 사람들과 바로가 그 마음을 완악하게 한 것처럼 여러분의 마음을 완악하게 하려 합니까? 그분이 그들 가운데서 놀라운 일들을 행하셨을 때에, 그들이 백성을 보내어 떠나가게 하지 않았습니까?
7 “ Now therefore take and prepare yourselves a new cart and two milk cows on which there has come no yoke; and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them;Now therefore take and prepare you a new cart, and two milch kine, on which there hath come no yoke; and tie the kine to the cart, and bring their calves home from them;그러니 이제 새 수레 하나를 만들고, 아직 멍에를 메어 본 적이 없는 젖 나는 암소 두 마리를 끌어다가 그 암소들을 수레에 매되, 그 송아지들은 떼어 놓아 집으로 돌려보내십시오.
8 and take Yahweh’s ark and lay it on the cart. Put the jewels of gold, which you return him for a trespass offering, in a box by its side; and send it away, that it may go.and take the ark of Jehovah, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass-offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.그리고 여호와의 궤를 가져다가 수레 위에 싣고, 여러분이 속건제물로 그분에게 돌려보내는 금 보물들은 상자에 담아 그 곁에 두고, 궤가 가도록 떠나보내십시오.
9 Behold, if it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth Shemesh, then he has done us this great evil; but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us. It was a chance that happened to us.”And see; if it goeth up by the way of its own border to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.그리고 보십시오. 만일 궤가 그 본래의 경계 길을 따라 벧세메스로 올라가면, 이 큰 재앙을 우리에게 내리신 분은 그분이십니다. 그러나 그렇지 않으면, 우리를 친 것이 그분의 손이 아니라 우연히 우리에게 일어난 일이었음을 알게 될 것입니다."
10 The men did so, and took two milk cows and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.And the men did so, and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home;사람들이 그렇게 하여, 젖 나는 암소 두 마리를 끌어다가 수레에 매고, 그 송아지들은 집에 가두어 두었다.
11 They put Yahweh’s ark on the cart, and the box with the golden mice and the images of their tumors.and they put the ark of Jehovah upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their tumors.그리고 그들이 여호와의 궤와, 금 쥐들과 그들의 종기 모양을 담은 상자를 수레 위에 실었다.
12 The cows took the straight way by the way to Beth Shemesh. They went along the highway, lowing as they went, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.And the kine took the straight way by the way to Beth-shemesh; they went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Beth-shemesh.암소들이 벧세메스로 향하는 길로 곧장 나아가, 큰길을 따라가며 울면서 갔고, 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 치우치지 않았다. 블레셋 사람의 통치자들은 벧세메스 경계까지 그 뒤를 따라갔다.
13 The people of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.And they of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.그때 벧세메스 사람들이 골짜기에서 밀을 거두고 있었는데, 그들이 눈을 들어 궤를 보고는 그것을 보며 기뻐하였다.
14 The cart came into the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and stood there, where there was a great stone. Then they split the wood of the cart and offered up the cows for a burnt offering to Yahweh.And the cart came into the field of Joshua the Beth-shemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone: and they clave the wood of the cart, and offered up the kine for a burnt-offering unto Jehovah.수레가 벧세메스 사람 여호수아의 밭에 이르러 거기에 멈추었는데, 그곳에 큰 돌 하나가 있었다. 사람들이 수레의 나무를 쪼개고 그 암소들을 여호와께 번제로 드렸다.
15 The Levites took down Yahweh’s ark and the box that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone; and the men of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day to Yahweh.And the Levites took down the ark of Jehovah, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt-offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto Jehovah.레위 사람들이 여호와의 궤와 그것과 함께 있던 상자, 곧 금 보물들이 들어 있는 상자를 내려서 그 큰 돌 위에 두었고, 벧세메스 사람들은 그 날에 여호와께 번제를 드리고 희생제물을 바쳤다.
16 When the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.블레셋 사람의 다섯 통치자들이 이것을 보고 그 날로 에그론으로 돌아갔다.
17 These are the golden tumors which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering to Yahweh: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;And these are the golden tumors which the Philistines returned for a trespass-offering unto Jehovah: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;블레셋 사람들이 여호와께 속건제물로 돌려보낸 금 종기들은 이러하니, 아스돗을 위하여 하나, 가사를 위하여 하나, 아스글론을 위하여 하나, 가드를 위하여 하나, 에그론을 위하여 하나였다.
18 and the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities and of country villages, even to the great stone on which they set down Yahweh’s ark. That stone remains to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh.and the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities and of country villages, even unto the great stone, whereon they set down the ark of Jehovah, which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua the Beth-shemite.또 금 쥐들은 다섯 통치자들에게 속한 블레셋 사람의 모든 성읍, 곧 견고한 성읍과 시골 마을의 수효를 따른 것이었다. 그들이 여호와의 궤를 내려놓았던 그 큰 돌은 오늘날까지 벧세메스 사람 여호수아의 밭에 남아 있다.
19 He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into Yahweh’s ark, he struck fifty thousand seventy of the men. Then the people mourned, because Yahweh had struck the people with a great slaughter.And he smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of Jehovah, he smote of the people seventy men, and fifty thousand men; and the people mourned, because Jehovah had smitten the people with a great slaughter.그분이 벧세메스 사람들을 치셨으니, 이는 그들이 여호와의 궤 안을 들여다보았기 때문이다. 그분이 백성 가운데서 오만 칠십 명을 치셨고, 여호와께서 백성을 큰 재앙으로 치셨으므로 백성이 슬피 울었다.
20 The men of Beth Shemesh said, “ Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? To whom shall he go up from us?”And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before Jehovah, this holy God? and to whom shall he go up from us?벧세메스 사람들이 말하였다. "이 거룩하신 하나님 여호와 앞에 누가 능히 설 수 있겠는가? 그분이 우리를 떠나 누구에게로 올라가실 것인가?"
21 They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “ The Philistines have brought back Yahweh’s ark. Come down and bring it up to yourselves.”And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying, The Philistines have brought back the ark of Jehovah; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.그들이 기럇여아림 주민들에게 사자들을 보내어 말하였다. "블레셋 사람들이 여호와의 궤를 도로 가져왔으니, 내려와서 그것을 여러분에게로 옮겨 가십시오."
