1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite:에브라임 산지의 라마다임소빔에 한 사람이 있었는데, 그 이름은 엘가나였다. 그는 여로함의 아들이요, 엘리후의 손자요, 도후의 증손이요, 숩의 후손인 에브라임 사람이었다.
2 He had two wives. The name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.and he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.그에게는 두 아내가 있었는데, 한 사람의 이름은 한나요 다른 사람의 이름은 브닌나였다. 브닌나에게는 자녀가 있었으나 한나에게는 자녀가 없었다.
3 This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to Yahweh of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to Yahweh, were there.And this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice unto Jehovah of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests unto Jehovah, were there.이 사람은 해마다 자기 성읍에서 실로로 올라가, 만군의 여호와께 예배드리고 제사를 드렸다. 그곳에는 엘리의 두 아들 홉니와 비느하스가 여호와의 제사장으로 있었다.
4 When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters;And when the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:엘가나가 제사를 드리는 날이면, 그는 아내 브닌나와 그의 모든 아들과 딸들에게 제물의 몫을 나누어 주었다.
5 but he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved Hannah, but Yahweh had shut up her womb.but unto Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but Jehovah had shut up her womb.그러나 한나에게는 두 배의 몫을 주었으니, 이는 그가 한나를 사랑하였기 때문이다. 다만 여호와께서 한나의 태를 닫으셨다.
6 Her rival provoked her severely, to irritate her, because Yahweh had shut up her womb.And her rival provoked her sore, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb.여호와께서 한나의 태를 닫으셨으므로, 그의 적수 브닌나가 한나를 몹시 괴롭혀 속을 상하게 하였다.
7 So year by year, when she went up to Yahweh’s house, her rival provoked her. Therefore she wept, and didn’t eat.And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of Jehovah, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.이런 일이 해마다 거듭되었으니, 한나가 여호와의 집에 올라갈 때마다 브닌나가 그를 괴롭혔다. 그래서 한나는 울며 먹지 아니하였다.
8 Elkanah her husband said to her, “ Hannah, why do you weep? Why don’t you eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?그의 남편 엘가나가 그에게 말하였다. "한나여, 어찌하여 우는가? 어찌하여 먹지 아니하는가? 어찌하여 마음이 상하였는가? 내가 그대에게 열 아들보다 낫지 아니한가?"
9 So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of Yahweh’s temple.So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest was sitting upon his seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah.그들이 실로에서 먹고 마신 후에 한나가 일어났다. 그때 제사장 엘리는 여호와의 성전 문기둥 곁 자기 자리에 앉아 있었다.
10 She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Yahweh, weeping bitterly.And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto Jehovah, and wept sore.한나는 마음이 괴로워 여호와께 기도하며 통곡하였다.
11 She vowed a vow, and said, “ Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then I will give him unto Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.그가 서원하며 말하였다. "만군의 여호와여, 주의 여종의 고통을 정녕히 살펴 주시고, 나를 기억하시고, 주의 여종을 잊지 아니하시며, 주의 여종에게 아들 하나를 주시면, 내가 그를 그의 평생에 여호와께 드리고 그의 머리에 삭도를 대지 아니하겠나이다."
12 As she continued praying before Yahweh, Eli saw her mouth.And it came to pass, as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth.한나가 여호와 앞에서 계속 기도하는 동안, 엘리가 그의 입을 주목하여 보았다.
13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.한나는 마음속으로 말하고 있어서, 입술만 움직일 뿐 그 소리가 들리지 아니하였다. 그래서 엘리는 그가 술에 취한 줄로 여겼다.
14 Eli said to her, “ How long will you be drunk? Get rid of your wine!”And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.엘리가 그에게 말하였다. "네가 언제까지 취하여 있겠느냐? 네 포도주를 끊으라."
15 Hannah answered, “ No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Yahweh.And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Jehovah.한나가 대답하였다. "내 주여, 그렇지 아니하옵니다. 나는 마음이 슬픈 여자라서 포도주나 독주를 마신 것이 아니라, 다만 여호와 앞에 내 심정을 쏟아 놓았을 뿐입니다.
16 Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.”Count not thy handmaid for a wicked woman; for out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation have I spoken hitherto.당신의 여종을 악한 여자로 여기지 마소서. 내가 지금까지 말한 것은 나의 큰 근심과 괴로움에서 나온 것입니다."
17 Then Eli answered, “ Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.”Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of him.그러자 엘리가 대답하였다. "평안히 가라. 이스라엘의 하나님께서 네가 구한 청을 들어 주시기를 바라노라."
18 She said, “ Let your servant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate; and her facial expression wasn’t sad any more.And she said, Let thy handmaid find favor in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat; and her countenance was no more sad.한나가 말하였다. "당신의 여종이 당신 앞에서 은혜를 입게 하소서." 그리고 그 여인은 자기 길을 가서 음식을 먹었으며, 그의 얼굴에 다시는 수심이 없었다.
19 They rose up in the morning early and worshiped Yahweh, then returned and came to their house to Ramah. Then Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Yahweh remembered her.And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her;그들이 아침 일찍 일어나 여호와 앞에 예배드리고, 돌아와 라마에 있는 자기 집으로 왔다. 엘가나가 그의 아내 한나와 동침하니, 여호와께서 그를 기억하셨다.
20 When the time had come, Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “ Because I have asked him of Yahweh.”and it came to pass, when the time was come about, that Hannah conceived, and bare a son; and she called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of Jehovah.때가 이르매 한나가 임신하여 아들을 낳고, 그 이름을 사무엘이라 하였다. "내가 그를 여호와께 구하였다"는 뜻이었다.
21 The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to Yahweh the yearly sacrifice and his vow.And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto Jehovah the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.그 사람 엘가나와 그의 온 집안이 여호와께 해마다 드리는 제사와 그가 서원한 것을 드리려고 올라갔다.
22 But Hannah didn’t go up, for she said to her husband, “ Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before Yahweh, and stay there forever.”But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned; and then I will bring him, that he may appear before Jehovah, and there abide for ever.그러나 한나는 올라가지 아니하고, 그의 남편에게 말하였다. "아이가 젖을 뗄 때까지 기다렸다가, 그를 데리고 가서 여호와 앞에 보이고 거기 영원히 있게 하겠습니다."
23 Elkanah her husband said to her, “ Do what seems good to you. Wait until you have weaned him; only may Yahweh establish his word.” So the woman waited and nursed her son until she weaned him.And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only Jehovah establish his word. So the woman tarried and gave her son suck, until she weaned him.그의 남편 엘가나가 그에게 말하였다. "그대 보기에 좋은 대로 하시오. 그를 젖 뗄 때까지 기다리시오. 다만 여호와께서 그분의 말씀을 이루어 주시기를 바라오." 그래서 그 여인은 머물러 아들에게 젖을 먹이다가, 젖을 뗄 때까지 기다렸다.
24 When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of meal, and a container of wine, and brought him to Yahweh’s house in Shiloh. The child was young.And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of meal, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of Jehovah in Shiloh: and the child was young.젖을 뗀 후에, 한나는 수소 세 마리와 밀가루 한 에바와 포도주 한 가죽부대를 가지고 아이와 함께 실로에 있는 여호와의 집으로 데리고 갔다. 그 아이는 아직 어렸다.
25 They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.And they slew the bullock, and brought the child to Eli.그들이 수소를 잡고, 그 아이를 엘리에게 데려갔다.
26 She said, “Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to Yahweh.And she said, Oh, my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto Jehovah.한나가 말하였다. "오, 내 주여, 당신의 영혼이 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니, 내 주여, 나는 여기서 당신 곁에 서서 여호와께 기도하던 그 여자입니다.
27 I prayed for this child, and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of him.For this child I prayed; and Jehovah hath given me my petition which I asked of him:내가 이 아이를 위하여 기도하였더니, 여호와께서 내가 구한 청을 내게 주셨습니다.
28 Therefore I have also given him to Yahweh. As long as he lives he is given to Yahweh.” He worshiped Yahweh there.therefore also I have granted him to Jehovah; as long as he liveth he is granted to Jehovah. And he worshipped Jehovah there.그러므로 나도 그를 여호와께 드립니다. 그가 사는 날 동안 그는 여호와께 드려진 자입니다." 그리고 그가 거기서 여호와께 예배드렸다.
