1 Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father, and Hiram had always loved David.And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.두로 왕 히람은 자기 신하들을 솔로몬에게 보냈다. 솔로몬이 자기 아버지를 이어 기름 부음을 받아 왕이 되었다는 소식을 들었기 때문이다. 히람은 평생 다윗을 사랑하던 사람이었다.
2 Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,솔로몬이 히람에게 사람을 보내어 이렇게 말했다.
3 “You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of Yahweh his God because of the wars which were around him on every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Jehovah his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet."당신도 아시다시피, 내 아버지 다윗은 사방에서 일어난 전쟁들 때문에 그의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 지을 수 없었습니다. 여호와께서 그 원수들을 그의 발 아래 두실 때까지 말입니다.
4 But now Yahweh my God has given me rest on every side. There is no enemy and no evil occurrence.But now Jehovah my God hath given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary, nor evil occurrence.그러나 이제 내 하나님 여호와께서 사방에서 나에게 안식을 주셨습니다. 이제는 맞서는 자도 없고 재앙도 없습니다.
5 Behold, I intend to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, as Yahweh spoke to David my father, saying, ‘ Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place shall build the house for my name.’And, behold, I purpose to build a house for the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build the house for my name.보십시오, 나는 내 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 지으려고 합니다. 여호와께서 내 아버지 다윗에게 '내가 너를 이어 네 자리에 앉힐 네 아들, 그가 내 이름을 위하여 성전을 지을 것이다'라고 말씀하셨기 때문입니다.
6 Now therefore command that cedar trees be cut for me out of Lebanon. My servants will be with your servants; and I will give you wages for your servants according to all that you say. For you know that there is nobody among us who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”Now therefore command thou that they cut me cedar-trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and I will give thee hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt say: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that knoweth how to cut timber like unto the Sidonians.그러니 이제 명령을 내려 레바논에서 나를 위하여 백향목을 베어 주십시오. 내 신하들이 당신의 신하들과 함께 일할 것이며, 당신이 말씀하시는 대로 당신의 신하들에게 품삯을 모두 드리겠습니다. 당신도 아시다시피, 우리 가운데는 시돈 사람들처럼 나무를 벨 줄 아는 사람이 없기 때문입니다."
7 When Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly, and said, “Blessed is Yahweh today, who has given to David a wise son to rule over this great people.”And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be Jehovah this day, who hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.히람은 솔로몬의 말을 듣고 크게 기뻐하며 말했다. "오늘 여호와를 찬송합니다. 그분께서 다윗에게 이 큰 백성을 다스릴 지혜로운 아들을 주셨습니다."
8 Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, “ I have heard the message which you have sent to me. I will do all your desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning cypress timber.And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard the message which thou hast sent unto me: I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.히람이 솔로몬에게 사람을 보내어 말했다. "당신이 내게 보낸 전갈을 들었습니다. 백향목과 잣나무 목재에 관하여 당신이 바라는 대로 모두 해 드리겠습니다.
9 My servants will bring them down from Lebanon to the sea. I will make them into rafts to go by sea to the place that you specify to me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and you will receive them. You will accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.”My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea; and I will make them into rafts to go by sea unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and thou shalt receive them; and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.내 신하들이 레바논에서 바다로 그것들을 내려 보낼 것이며, 나는 그것들을 뗏목으로 엮어 바다로 띄워 당신이 정해 주는 곳으로 보내겠습니다. 거기서 그것들을 풀어 놓겠으니 당신이 받으시면 됩니다. 그러면 당신은 내 집에 먹을 양식을 주어 내가 바라는 바를 이루어 주십시오."
10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar timber and cypress timber according to all his desire.So Hiram gave Solomon timber of cedar and timber of fir according to all his desire.그리하여 히람은 솔로몬이 바라는 대로 백향목과 잣나무 목재를 다 주었다.
11 Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand cors of wheat for food to his household, and twenty cors of pure oil. Solomon gave this to Hiram year by year.And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.솔로몬은 히람에게 그의 집에서 먹을 밀 이만 석과 순수한 기름 이십 석을 주었다. 솔로몬은 이것을 해마다 히람에게 주었다.
12 Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty together.And Jehovah gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.여호와께서 약속하신 대로 솔로몬에게 지혜를 주셨다. 히람과 솔로몬 사이에는 평화가 있었고, 두 사람은 함께 조약을 맺었다.
13 King Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.솔로몬 왕은 온 이스라엘에서 노역할 사람을 징발하였는데, 그 인원이 삼만 명이었다.
14 He sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: for a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home; and Adoniram was over the men subject to forced labor.And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses; a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the men subject to taskwork.그는 그들을 한 달에 만 명씩 번갈아 레바논으로 보냈다. 한 달은 레바논에 있고 두 달은 집에 있었으며, 아도니람이 그 강제 노역하는 사람들을 감독하였다.
15 Solomon had seventy thousand who bore burdens, and eighty thousand who were stone cutters in the mountains,And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand that were hewers in the mountains;솔로몬에게는 짐을 나르는 사람이 칠만 명, 산에서 돌을 떠내는 사람이 팔만 명이 있었다.
16 besides Solomon’s chief officers who were over the work: three thousand three hundred who ruled over the people who labored in the work.besides Solomon’s chief officers that were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.이 밖에도 솔로몬에게는 그 일을 감독하는 우두머리 관리들이 삼천삼백 명이 있어서 일하는 백성을 다스렸다.
17 The king commanded, and they cut out large stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with worked stone.And the king commanded, and they hewed out great stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with wrought stone.왕이 명령하자, 그들은 다듬은 돌로 성전의 기초를 놓으려고 크고 값진 돌들을 떠냈다.
18 Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders and the Gebalites cut them, and prepared the timber and the stones to build the house.And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders and the Gebalites did fashion them, and prepared the timber and the stones to build the house.솔로몬의 건축자들과 히람의 건축자들과 그발 사람들이 그것들을 다듬고, 성전을 짓기 위하여 목재와 돌을 준비하였다.
