1 Now King David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn’t keep warm.Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.다윗 왕이 나이가 들어 늙으니, 사람들이 옷을 덮어 주어도 따뜻해지지 않았다.
2 Therefore his servants said to him, “ Let a young virgin be sought for my lord the king. Let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm.”Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.그래서 신하들이 그에게 말했다. 4 The young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and served him; but the king didn’t know her intimately.And the damsel was very fair; and she cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king knew her not.그 젊은 여인은 매우 아름다웠다. 그가 왕을 돌보며 시중을 들었으나, 왕은 그와 잠자리를 같이하지는 않았다.
5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “ I will be king.” Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.그때 학깃의 아들 아도니야가 스스로 높여 "내가 왕이 되리라" 하고는, 자기를 위하여 병거와 기병과 자기 앞에서 달릴 사람 쉰 명을 준비하였다.
6 His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, “ Why have you done so?” and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he was also a very goodly man; and he was born after Absalom.그의 아버지는 평생 한 번도 그를 거슬러 "어찌하여 그렇게 하였느냐" 하며 꾸짖은 적이 없었다. 그는 또한 매우 잘생긴 사람이었으며, 압살롬 다음으로 태어났다.
7 He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and they followed Adonijah and helped him.And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.그가 스루야의 아들 요압과 제사장 아비아달과 의논하니, 그들이 아도니야를 따르며 그를 도왔다.
8 But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men that belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.그러나 제사장 사독과 여호야다의 아들 브나야와 선지자 나단과 시므이와 레이와 다윗에게 속한 용사들은 아도니야와 함께하지 않았다.
9 Adonijah killed sheep, cattle, and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants;And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he called all his brethren, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants:아도니야가 엔로겔 곁에 있는 소헬렛 바위 옆에서 양과 소와 살진 짐승을 잡고, 자기 형제들인 왕의 아들들과 왕의 신하들인 유다 사람들을 모두 불렀으나,
10 but he didn’t call Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother.but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.선지자 나단과 브나야와 용사들과 그의 형제 솔로몬은 부르지 않았다.
11 Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?Then Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?그때 나단이 솔로몬의 어머니 밧세바에게 말하였다. "학깃의 아들 아도니야가 왕이 되었는데도 우리 주 다윗께서 그것을 알지 못하시는 것을, 당신은 듣지 못하셨습니까?
12 Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life and your son Solomon’s life.Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.그러니 이제 오십시오, 제가 당신에게 한 가지 조언을 드려 당신의 목숨과 당신의 아들 솔로몬의 목숨을 구하게 하겠습니다.
13 Go in to King David, and tell him, ‘Didn’t you, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “ Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then does Adonijah reign?’Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thy handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?당신은 다윗 왕에게 들어가 이렇게 아뢰십시오. '내 주 왕이여, 왕께서 이 여종에게 「반드시 네 아들 솔로몬이 나를 이어 왕이 되어 내 왕좌에 앉으리라」고 맹세하지 않으셨습니까? 그런데 어찌하여 아도니야가 왕이 되었습니까?'
14 Behold, while you are still talking there with the king, I will also come in after you and confirm your words.”Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.보십시오, 당신이 거기서 왕과 이야기하고 있을 때에 제가 당신 뒤를 따라 들어가 당신의 말을 뒷받침하겠습니다."
15 Bathsheba went in to the king in his room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.And Bath-sheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering unto the king.밧세바가 침실로 들어가 왕에게 나아가니, 왕은 매우 늙었고 수넴 여인 아비삭이 왕을 시중들고 있었다.
16 Bathsheba bowed and showed respect to the king. The king said, “ What would you like?”And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?밧세바가 몸을 굽혀 왕에게 절하니, 왕이 "무엇을 원하느냐?" 하고 물었다.
17 She said to him, “ My lord, you swore by Yahweh your God to your servant, ‘ Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by Jehovah thy God unto thy handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.그가 왕에게 말하였다. "내 주여, 왕께서 당신의 하나님 여호와를 두고 이 여종에게 '반드시 네 아들 솔로몬이 나를 이어 왕이 되어 내 왕좌에 앉으리라' 하고 맹세하셨습니다.
18 Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don’t know it.And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and thou, my lord the king, knowest it not:그런데 보십시오, 이제 아도니야가 왕이 되었는데 내 주 왕께서는 그것을 알지 못하십니다.
19 He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn’t called Solomon your servant.and he hath slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host; but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.그가 소와 살진 짐승과 양을 많이 잡고 왕의 모든 아들과 제사장 아비아달과 군대 장관 요압을 불렀으나, 당신의 종 솔로몬은 부르지 않았습니다.
20 You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.And thou, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.내 주 왕이여, 온 이스라엘의 눈이 왕을 바라보고 있으니, 내 주 왕을 이어 누가 왕좌에 앉을지 그들에게 말씀해 주셔야 합니다.
21 Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered criminals.”Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.그렇지 않으면 내 주 왕께서 조상들과 함께 잠드신 후에 나와 내 아들 솔로몬이 죄인으로 여겨지게 될 것입니다."
22 Behold, while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.보십시오, 그가 아직 왕과 이야기하고 있을 때에 선지자 나단이 들어왔다.
23 They told the king, saying, “ Behold, Nathan the prophet!” When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.And they told the king, saying, Behold, Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.사람들이 왕에게 "보십시오, 선지자 나단입니다" 하고 알리니, 그가 왕 앞에 들어와 얼굴을 땅에 대고 왕에게 절하였다.
24 Nathan said, “ My lord, King, have you said, ‘Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’?And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?나단이 말하였다. "내 주 왕이여, 왕께서 '아도니야가 나를 이어 왕이 되어 내 왕좌에 앉으리라'고 말씀하셨습니까?
25 For he has gone down today, and has slain cattle, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying, ‘ Long live King Adonijah!’For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, Long live king Adonijah.그가 오늘 내려가 소와 살진 짐승과 양을 많이 잡고 왕의 모든 아들과 군대 장관들과 제사장 아비아달을 불렀습니다. 보십시오, 그들이 그 앞에서 먹고 마시며 '아도니야 왕 만세!' 하고 있습니다.
26 But he hasn’t called me, even me your servant, Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.그러나 그는 당신의 종인 저와 제사장 사독과 여호야다의 아들 브나야와 당신의 종 솔로몬은 부르지 않았습니다.
27 Was this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven’t shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not showed unto thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?이 일이 내 주 왕에 의해 이루어진 것입니까? 그런데도 내 주 왕을 이어 누가 왕좌에 앉을지를 당신의 종들에게 알리지 않으셨습니까?"
28 Then King David answered, “ Call Bathsheba in to me.” She came into the king’s presence and stood before the king.Then king David answered and said, Call to me Bath-sheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.그러자 다윗 왕이 대답하였다. "밧세바를 내게 불러 오너라." 그가 왕 앞에 들어와 왕 앞에 섰다.
29 The king vowed and said, “ As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,And the king sware, and said, As Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,왕이 맹세하며 말하였다. "내 생명을 모든 환난에서 구속하신 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노라.
30 most certainly as I swore to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, ‘ Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;’ I will most certainly do this today.”verily as I sware unto thee by Jehovah, the God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; verily so will I do this day.내가 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 두고 네게 '반드시 네 아들 솔로몬이 나를 이어 왕이 되어 내 자리에서 내 왕좌에 앉으리라'고 맹세한 그대로, 내가 오늘 반드시 그렇게 행하리라."
31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth and showed respect to the king, and said, “Let my lord King David live forever!”Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did obeisance to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.그러자 밧세바가 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절하며 왕에게 경의를 표하고 말하였다. "내 주 다윗 왕께서 영원히 사시기를 빕니다!"
32 King David said, “ Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king.And king David said, Call to me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.다윗 왕이 말하였다. "제사장 사독과 선지자 나단과 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 내게 불러 오너라." 그들이 왕 앞에 나아왔다.
33 The king said to them, “ Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.And the king said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:왕이 그들에게 말하였다. "너희 주의 신하들을 데리고 내 아들 솔로몬을 내가 타는 노새에 태워 기혼으로 데리고 내려가라.
34 Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, ‘ Long live King Solomon!’and let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel; and blow ye the trumpet, and say, Long live king Solomon.거기서 제사장 사독과 선지자 나단은 그에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼고, 나팔을 불며 '솔로몬 왕 만세!' 하고 외쳐라.
35 Then come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah.”Then ye shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead; and I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah.그런 다음 너희는 그를 따라 올라오라. 그가 와서 내 왕좌에 앉을 것이니, 그가 나를 대신하여 왕이 될 것이다. 내가 그를 이스라엘과 유다를 다스릴 통치자로 세웠노라."
36 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “Amen. May Yahweh, the God of my lord the king, say so.And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: Jehovah, the God of my lord the king, say so too.여호야다의 아들 브나야가 왕에게 대답하여 말하였다. "아멘. 내 주 왕의 하나님 여호와께서도 그렇게 말씀하시기를 빕니다.
37 As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”As Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.여호와께서 내 주 왕과 함께 계셨던 것처럼 솔로몬과도 함께 계셔서, 그의 왕좌를 내 주 다윗 왕의 왕좌보다 더 크게 하시기를 빕니다."
38 So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.그리하여 제사장 사독과 선지자 나단과 여호야다의 아들 브나야와 그렛 사람과 블렛 사람이 내려가, 솔로몬을 다윗 왕의 노새에 태워 기혼으로 데리고 갔다.
39 Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, “ Long live King Solomon!”And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Long live king Solomon.제사장 사독이 장막에서 기름 담은 뿔을 가져다가 솔로몬에게 기름을 부었다. 그들이 나팔을 부니 온 백성이 "솔로몬 왕 만세!" 하고 외쳤다.
40 All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.온 백성이 그를 따라 올라오며 피리를 불고 크게 기뻐하니, 그 소리로 땅이 진동하였다.
41 Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “ Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?아도니야와 그와 함께한 모든 손님이 식사를 마쳤을 때에 그 소리를 들었다. 요압이 나팔 소리를 듣고 말하였다. "어찌하여 성읍이 이렇게 떠들썩하게 소란한가?"
42 While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said, “ Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”While he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said, Come in; for thou art a worthy man, and bringest good tidings.그가 아직 말하고 있을 때에 보라, 제사장 아비아달의 아들 요나단이 왔다. 아도니야가 말하였다. "들어오너라. 너는 훌륭한 사람이니 좋은 소식을 전하겠구나."
43 Jonathan answered Adonijah, “ Most certainly our lord King David has made Solomon king.And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king:요나단이 아도니야에게 대답하였다. "정말로 우리 주 다윗 왕께서 솔로몬을 왕으로 삼으셨습니다.
44 The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king’s mule.and the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride upon the king’s mule;왕께서 제사장 사독과 선지자 나단과 여호야다의 아들 브나야와 그렛 사람과 블렛 사람을 그와 함께 보내셨고, 그들이 그를 왕의 노새에 태웠습니다.
45 Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon; and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.제사장 사독과 선지자 나단이 기혼에서 그에게 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼았습니다. 그들이 거기서 기뻐하며 올라오니 성읍이 다시 떠들썩하게 울렸습니다. 이것이 당신이 들은 그 소리입니다.
46 Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.또한 솔로몬이 나라의 왕좌에 앉았습니다.
47 Moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord King David, saying, ‘ May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;’ and the king bowed himself on the bed.And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne: and the king bowed himself upon the bed.게다가 왕의 신하들이 우리 주 다윗 왕을 축복하러 와서 '당신의 하나님께서 솔로몬의 이름을 당신의 이름보다 더 낫게 하시고 그의 왕좌를 당신의 왕좌보다 더 크게 하시기를 빕니다' 하니, 왕께서 침상 위에서 몸을 굽혀 경배하셨습니다.
48 Also thus said the king, ‘ Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne today, my eyes even seeing it.’”And also thus said the king, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.또 왕께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찬송하리로다. 오늘 내 눈으로 보는 가운데 내 왕좌에 앉을 자를 주셨도다.'"
49 All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.And all the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.그러자 아도니야의 모든 손님이 두려워하여 일어나 각자 자기 길로 갔다.
50 Adonijah was afraid because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and hung onto the horns of the altar.And Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.아도니야도 솔로몬을 두려워하여 일어나 가서 제단 뿔을 붙잡았다.
51 Solomon was told, “ Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, behold, he is hanging onto the horns of the altar, saying, ‘ Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon; for, lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me first that he will not slay his servant with the sword.사람들이 솔로몬에게 알렸다. "보십시오, 아도니야가 솔로몬 왕을 두려워하여 제단 뿔을 붙잡고 '솔로몬 왕께서 먼저 칼로 자기 종을 죽이지 않겠다고 내게 맹세해 주시기를 바란다' 하고 있습니다."
52 Solomon said, “ If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of his shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.”And Solomon said, If he shall show himself a worthy man, there shall not a hair of him fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die.솔로몬이 말하였다. "그가 자기를 훌륭한 사람으로 보이면 그의 머리카락 하나도 땅에 떨어지지 않을 것이나, 그에게서 악함이 발견되면 그는 죽으리라."
53 So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, “ Go to your house.”So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and did obeisance to king Solomon; and Solomon said unto him, Go to thy house.그리하여 솔로몬 왕이 사람을 보내어 그를 제단에서 데리고 내려오게 하였다. 그가 와서 솔로몬 왕에게 절하니, 솔로몬이 그에게 "네 집으로 가라" 하고 말하였다.
