Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel with all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yahweh’s covenant out of David’s city, which is Zion. Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ houses of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.
All the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
All the elders of Israel came, and the priests picked up the ark.And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
They brought up Yahweh’s ark, the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent. The priests and the Levites brought these up.And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered for multitude. And king Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.
The priests brought in the ark of Yahweh’s covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, even under the cherubim’s wings. And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah unto its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.
For the cherubim spread their wings out over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles above. For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place before the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside. They are there to this day.And the staves were so long that the ends of the staves were seen from the holy place before the oracle; but they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.
There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets which Moses put there at Horeb, when Yahweh made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
It came to pass, when the priests had come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled Yahweh’s house,And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah,제사장들이 성소에서 나올 때에 구름이 여호와의 성전에 가득 찼다.
so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for Yahweh’s glory filled Yahweh’s house.so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah.
Then Solomon said, “ Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. Then spake Solomon, Jehovah hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.그때에 솔로몬이 말하였다. "여호와께서 캄캄한 가운데 계시겠다고 말씀하셨습니다.
I have surely built you a house of habitation, a place for you to dwell in forever.”I have surely built thee a house of habitation, a place for thee to dwell in for ever.
The king turned his face around and blessed all the assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel stood. And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.
He said, “ Blessed is Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David your father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,그가 말하였다. "이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찬송하라. 그분께서 입으로 내 아버지 다윗에게 말씀하시고 손으로 그것을 이루셨으니, 이르시기를
‘ Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.’Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.'
“ Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel. Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.내 아버지 다윗이 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 집을 지으려는 마음을 품었으나,
But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘ Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart. But Jehovah said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house for my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart:여호와께서 내 아버지 다윗에게 말씀하셨으니, '네가 내 이름을 위하여 집을 지으려는 마음을 품은 것은 잘한 일이다.
Nevertheless, you shall not build the house; but your son who shall come out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.
Yahweh has established his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel. And Jehovah hath established his word that he spake; for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and have built the house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.
There I have set a place for the ark, in which is Yahweh’s covenant, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.”And there have I set a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
Solomon stood before Yahweh’s altar in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven; And Solomon stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;솔로몬이 이스라엘의 온 회중 앞에서 여호와의 제단 앞에 서서 하늘을 향하여 손을 펴고
and he said, “ Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath; who keeps covenant and loving kindness with your servants who walk before you with all their heart;and he said, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath; who keepest covenant and lovingkindness with thy servants, that walk before thee with all their heart;말하였다. "이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여, 위로 하늘에나 아래로 땅에나 주와 같은 하나님이 없으니, 주께서는 온 마음으로 주 앞에서 행하는 주의 종들에게 언약과 인자하심을 지키시는 분이십니다.
who has kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is today.who hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him: yea, thou spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as it is this day.
Now therefore, may Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘ There shall not fail from you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’Now therefore, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
“ Now therefore, God of Israel, please let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David my father. Now therefore, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.그러므로 이제 이스라엘의 하나님이여, 주께서 주의 종 내 아버지 다윗에게 하신 말씀이 확실히 이루어지게 하소서.
But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house that I have built! But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded!
Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant and for his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you today;Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee this day;그러나 나의 하나님 여호와여, 주의 종의 기도와 간구를 돌아보시고, 주의 종이 오늘 주 앞에서 부르짖으며 드리는 부르짖음과 기도를 들으소서.
that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, ‘ My name shall be there;’ to listen to the prayer which your servant prays toward this place.that thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place whereof thou hast said, My name shall be there; to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall pray toward this place.
Listen to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive. And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: yea, hear thou in heaven thy dwelling-place; and when thou hearest, forgive.
“ If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house,If a man sin against his neighbor, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and he come and swear before thine altar in this house;만일 어떤 사람이 그 이웃에게 죄를 지어 맹세하게 되어, 그가 와서 이 집에서 주의 제단 앞에서 맹세하거든,
then hear in heaven, and act, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way on his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
“ When your people Israel are struck down before the enemy because they have sinned against you, if they turn again to you and confess your name, and pray and make supplication to you in this house,When thy people Israel are smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; if they turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication unto thee in this house:주의 백성 이스라엘이 주께 죄를 지어 원수 앞에 패하였다가, 다시 주께로 돌아와 주의 이름을 인정하고 이 집에서 주께 기도하며 간구하거든,
then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to their fathers.then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.
“ When the sky is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn from their sin when you afflict them,When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them:그들이 주께 죄를 지어 하늘이 닫히고 비가 없을 때에, 만일 그들이 이곳을 향하여 기도하고 주의 이름을 인정하며, 주께서 그들을 괴롭게 하실 때에 그들의 죄에서 돌이키거든,
then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on your land which you have given to your people for an inheritance.then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou teachest them the good way wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
“ If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight, mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;만일 그 땅에 기근이 들거나 전염병이 돌거나, 마름병이나 깜부기병이나 메뚜기나 황충이 생기거나, 그들의 원수가 그들의 성읍들의 땅에서 그들을 에워싸거나, 어떤 재앙이나 어떤 질병이 있든지,
whatever prayer and supplication is made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall each know the plague of his own heart, and spread out his hands toward this house, what prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, who shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:주의 백성 이스라엘 가운데 어떤 사람이나 모든 백성이 각각 자기 마음의 재앙을 깨닫고 이 집을 향하여 손을 펴며 무슨 기도나 간구를 하거든,
then hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know ( for you, even you only, know the hearts of all the children of men );then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling-place, and forgive, and do, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; ( for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)주께서 계시는 곳 하늘에서 들으시고 용서하시며 행하시고, 각 사람의 마음을 아시오니 그 모든 행위대로 갚으소서.
that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.that they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
“ Moreover, concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he comes out of a far country for your name’s sakeMoreover concerning the foreigner, that is not of thy people Israel, when he shall come out of a far country for thy name’s sake또한 주의 백성 이스라엘에 속하지 아니한 이방 사람에 관하여도, 그가 주의 이름을 위하여 먼 나라에서 나아올 때에—
( for they shall hear of your great name and of your mighty hand and of your outstretched arm ), when he comes and prays toward this house,( for they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy mighty hand, and of thine outstretched arm ); when he shall come and pray toward this house;그들이 주의 위대하신 이름과 능하신 손과 펴신 팔에 관하여 들을 것이니—그가 와서 이 집을 향하여 기도하거든,
hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.hear thou in heaven thy dwelling-place, and do according to all that the foreigner calleth to thee for; that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
“ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to Yahweh toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name,If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatsoever way thou shalt send them, and they pray unto Jehovah toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name;만일 주의 백성이 주께서 보내시는 어느 길로든지 그들의 원수와 싸우러 나가서, 주께서 택하신 성읍과 내가 주의 이름을 위하여 지은 이 집을 향하여 여호와께 기도하거든,
then hear in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
If they sin against you ( for there is no man who doesn’t sin ), and you are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near;If they sin against thee ( for there is no man that sinneth not ), and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto the land of the enemy, far off or near;만일 그들이 주께 죄를 지으면—죄를 짓지 않는 사람이 없사오니—주께서 그들에게 진노하사 원수에게 넘기시므로, 원수가 그들을 사로잡아 멀든 가깝든 원수의 땅으로 끌고 가더라도,
yet if they repent in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of those who carried them captive, saying, ‘ We have sinned and have done perversely; we have dealt wickedly,’yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captive, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have dealt wickedly;그들이 사로잡혀 간 땅에서 마음을 돌이켜 회개하고, 사로잡아 간 자들의 땅에서 주께 간구하여 이르기를 '우리가 죄를 지었고 패역하게 행하였으며 악하게 행하였습니다'라고 하며,
if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen and the house which I have built for your name,if they return unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:그들을 사로잡아 간 원수의 땅에서 온 마음과 온 정성으로 주께 돌아와, 주께서 그들의 조상들에게 주신 그들의 땅과 주께서 택하신 성읍과 내가 주의 이름을 위하여 지은 이 집을 향하여 주께 기도하거든,
then hear their prayer and their supplication in heaven, your dwelling place, and maintain their cause;then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling-place, and maintain their cause;주께서 계시는 곳 하늘에서 그들의 기도와 간구를 들으시고 그들의 사정을 돌보시며,
and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions in which they have transgressed against you; and give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on themand forgive thy people who have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee; and give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them주께 죄를 지은 주의 백성을 용서하시고, 주께 범한 그들의 모든 허물을 용서하시며, 그들을 사로잡아 간 자들 앞에서 그들이 긍휼히 여김을 받게 하사 그들로 긍휼을 베풀게 하소서.
( for they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out of Egypt, from the middle of the iron furnace );( for they are thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron );(그들은 주께서 이집트에서, 곧 쇠풀무 가운데서 인도하여 내신 주의 백성이요 주의 기업입니다.)
that your eyes may be open to the supplication of your servant and to the supplication of your people Israel, to listen to them whenever they cry to you.that thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them whensoever they cry unto thee.
For you separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be your inheritance, as you spoke by Moses your servant, when you brought our fathers out of Egypt, Lord Yahweh.”For thou didst separate them from among all the peoples of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord Jehovah.
It was so, that when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication to Yahweh, he arose from before Yahweh’s altar, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread out toward heaven. And it was so, that, when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto Jehovah, he arose from before the altar of Jehovah, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread forth toward heaven.
He stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,And he stood, and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
“ Blessed be Yahweh, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.Blessed be Jehovah, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant."여호와를 찬송하라. 그분께서 약속하신 모든 것을 따라 그의 백성 이스라엘에게 안식을 주셨으니, 그의 종 모세를 통하여 하신 그 모든 선한 약속 가운데 한 말씀도 이루어지지 아니한 것이 없도다.
May Yahweh our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us or forsake us,Jehovah our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us;우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리 조상들과 함께 계셨던 것같이 우리와 함께 계시기를 원하며, 우리를 떠나지 마시고 버리지 마시기를 원하노라.
that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.that he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.
Let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Yahweh, be near to Yahweh our God day and night, that he may maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as every day requires; And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before Jehovah, be nigh unto Jehovah our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel, as every day shall require;내가 여호와 앞에서 간구한 이 말이 우리 하나님 여호와께 밤낮으로 가까이 있어, 날마다 필요한 대로 그분의 종의 사정과 그분의 백성 이스라엘의 사정을 돌보시기를 원하노라.
that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh himself is God. There is no one else.that all the peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah, he is God; there is none else.
“ Let your heart therefore be perfect with Yahweh our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as it is today.”Let your heart therefore be perfect with Jehovah our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
The king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before Yahweh. And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before Jehovah.
Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Yahweh, twenty two thousand head of cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep.
