1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.그 무렵 여로보암의 아들 아비야가 병이 들었다.
2 Jeroboam said to his wife, “ Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spake concerning me that I should be king over this people.여로보암이 자기 아내에게 말했다. "이제 일어나 변장을 해서 당신이 여로보암의 아내인 줄 아무도 알아보지 못하게 하시오. 그리고 실로로 가시오. 거기에 선지자 아히야가 있는데, 그는 내가 이 백성을 다스릴 왕이 되리라고 일러 준 사람이오.
3 Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”And take with thee ten loaves, and cakes, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he will tell thee what shall become of the child.빵 열 개와 과자와 꿀 한 병을 가지고 그에게 가시오. 그가 이 아이가 어떻게 될지 당신에게 알려 줄 것이오."
4 Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. 5 Yahweh said to Ahijah, “ Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”And Jehovah said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to inquire of thee concerning her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her; for it will be, when she cometh in, that she will feign herself to be another woman.여호와께서 아히야에게 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 여로보암의 아내가 자기 아들의 일로 네게 물으러 오고 있다. 그 아이가 병이 들었기 때문이다. 너는 그녀에게 이러이러하게 말하여라. 그녀가 들어올 때에 다른 여인인 척할 것이다."
6 So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “ Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.그녀가 문으로 들어올 때에 아히야는 그 발소리를 듣고 말했다. "들어오시오, 여로보암의 아내여! 어찌하여 다른 사람인 척하시오? 내가 당신에게 무거운 소식을 전하라고 보냄을 받았소.
7 Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “ Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,가서 여로보암에게 전하시오. '이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 내가 너를 백성 가운데서 높여 내 백성 이스라엘을 다스릴 통치자로 세웠고,
8 and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee; and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes,다윗의 집에서 나라를 떼어 내어 네게 주었다. 그러나 너는 내 종 다윗과 같지 않았다. 다윗은 내 계명을 지키고 온 마음으로 나를 따르며 오직 내 눈에 옳은 일만 행하였다.
9 but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,but hast done evil above all that were before thee, and hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:그런데 너는 너보다 앞선 모든 자보다 더 악을 행하여, 가서 다른 신들과 부어 만든 우상을 만들어 나를 노하게 하였고, 나를 네 등 뒤로 던져 버렸다.
10 therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every man-child, him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweepeth away dung, till it be all gone.그러므로 보아라, 내가 여로보암의 집에 재앙을 내리겠다. 이스라엘에서 여로보암에게 속한 남자는 종이든 자유로운 자든 모두 끊어 버리겠고, 사람이 똥을 쓸어 없애듯 여로보암의 집을 완전히 쓸어 없애 하나도 남지 않게 하겠다.
11 The dogs will eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat whoever dies in the field, for Yahweh has spoken it.”’Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the birds of the heavens eat: for Jehovah hath spoken it.여로보암에게 속한 자가 성읍에서 죽으면 개가 먹을 것이요, 들에서 죽으면 하늘의 새가 먹을 것이다. 여호와가 이렇게 말하였다.'
12 Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.Arise thou therefore, get thee to thy house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.그러니 당신은 일어나 집으로 돌아가시오. 당신의 발이 성읍에 들어서는 순간 그 아이가 죽을 것이오.
13 All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.온 이스라엘이 그를 위해 슬피 울며 그를 묻을 것이오. 여로보암에게 속한 자 가운데 오직 그만이 무덤에 들어갈 것이오. 이는 여로보암의 집안에서 그에게서만 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 향한 선한 것이 발견되었기 때문이오.
14 Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.Moreover Jehovah will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.또한 여호와께서 이스라엘 위에 한 왕을 일으키실 것이니, 그가 여로보암의 집을 끊어 버릴 것이오. 바로 오늘이오! 무엇이라고? 지금 당장이오.
15 For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking Yahweh to anger.For Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking Jehovah to anger.여호와께서 이스라엘을 치셔서 물에서 흔들리는 갈대처럼 만드시고, 그들의 조상에게 주신 이 좋은 땅에서 이스라엘을 뽑아내어 강 건너편으로 흩으실 것이오. 이는 그들이 아세라 목상을 만들어 여호와를 노하게 하였기 때문이오.
16 He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he hath sinned, and wherewith he hath made Israel to sin.여호와께서 여로보암의 죄, 곧 그가 스스로 짓고 이스라엘로 짓게 한 그 죄들 때문에 이스라엘을 버리실 것이오."
17 Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.And Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.여로보암의 아내는 일어나 떠나 디르사로 갔다. 그녀가 집 문지방에 이를 때에 그 아이가 죽었다.
18 All Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.And all Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the prophet.온 이스라엘이 여호와께서 그 종 선지자 아히야를 통해 하신 말씀대로 그 아이를 묻고 그를 위해 슬피 울었다.

21 Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. 22 Judah did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.And Judah did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.유다는 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여, 그들이 저지른 죄로 여호와의 질투를 일으켰으니, 그 죄가 그들의 조상들이 행한 모든 것보다 더하였다.

24 There were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which Yahweh drove out before the children of Israel.and there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which Jehovah drove out before the children of Israel.그 땅에는 또한 남창들이 있었다. 그들은 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 민족들의 온갖 가증한 일을 그대로 행하였다.
25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;르호보암 왕 제오년에 이집트 왕 시삭이 예루살렘을 치러 올라왔다.
26 and he took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He even took away all of it, including all the gold shields which Solomon had made.and he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.그가 여호와의 성전 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 빼앗아 갔는데, 모조리 다 빼앗아 갔다. 그는 솔로몬이 만든 금 방패도 다 빼앗아 갔다.
27 King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the door of the king’s house.And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.르호보암 왕은 그 대신 놋 방패를 만들어, 왕궁 문을 지키는 호위대장들의 손에 맡겼다.
28 It was so, that as often as the king went into Yahweh’s house, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.And it was so, that, as oft as the king went into the house of Jehovah, the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.왕이 여호와의 성전에 들어갈 때마다 호위병들이 그 방패를 들었다가 다시 호위실로 가져다 두었다.
