1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,하나님의 뜻을 따라 예수 그리스도의 사도로 부르심을 받은 바울과, 우리 형제 소스데네는
2 to the assembly of God which is at Corinth — those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:unto the church of God which is at Corinth, even them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours:고린도에 있는 하나님의 교회, 곧 그리스도 예수 안에서 거룩하게 되어 거룩한 백성으로 부르심을 받은 여러분과, 또 각처에서 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 모든 이들에게 편지합니다. 그분은 그들의 주님이시며 또한 우리의 주님이십니다.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.우리 아버지 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도께서 주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.
4 I always thank my God concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;나는 그리스도 예수 안에서 여러분에게 주신 하나님의 은혜로 인하여 여러분을 두고 늘 나의 하나님께 감사합니다.
5 that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge —that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge;여러분은 그분 안에서 모든 면에서, 곧 모든 말과 모든 지식에서 풍성하게 되었습니다.
6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you —even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:이는 그리스도에 관한 증언이 여러분 가운데 굳게 세워졌기 때문입니다.
7 so that you come behind in no gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;그래서 여러분은 어떤 은사에도 부족함이 없이, 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 날을 기다리고 있습니다.
8 who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.그분께서는 또한 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 날에 여러분이 흠 없는 자로 서도록 끝까지 굳건히 붙들어 주실 것입니다.
9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.하나님은 신실하신 분이십니다. 그분께서 여러분을 불러 그 아들 우리 주 예수 그리스도와 교제하게 하셨습니다.
10 Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.형제 여러분, 나는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 여러분에게 권합니다. 모두 같은 말을 하고, 여러분 가운데 분열이 없게 하며, 같은 마음과 같은 뜻으로 온전히 하나가 되십시오.
11 For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them that are of the household of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.내가 이렇게 말하는 것은, 글로에의 집안 사람들이 여러분에 관하여, 여러분 가운데 다툼이 있다고 나에게 알려 주었기 때문입니다.
12 Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “ I follow Paul,” “ I follow Apollos,” “ I follow Cephas,” and, “ I follow Christ.”Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.내가 말하려는 것은 이것입니다. 여러분이 저마다 "나는 바울에게 속한다", "나는 아볼로에게 속한다", "나는 게바에게 속한다", "나는 그리스도에게 속한다" 하고 말한다는 것입니다.
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?그리스도께서 나뉘셨습니까? 바울이 여러분을 위하여 십자가에 못 박혔습니까? 아니면 여러분이 바울의 이름으로 세례를 받았습니까?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;나는 그리스보와 가이오 외에는 여러분 가운데 아무에게도 세례를 베풀지 않은 것을 하나님께 감사합니다.
15 so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name.이는 아무도 여러분이 내 이름으로 세례를 받았다고 말하지 못하게 하려는 것입니다.
16 ( I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don’ t know whether I baptized any other.)And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.(내가 스데바나의 집안 사람들에게도 세례를 베풀었습니다. 그 밖에는 다른 누구에게 세례를 베풀었는지 나는 알지 못합니다.)
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News — not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’ t be made void.For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.그리스도께서 나를 보내신 것은 세례를 베풀게 하려는 것이 아니라 복음을 전하게 하려는 것이었습니다. 그것도 말의 지혜로 하지 않게 하셨으니, 이는 그리스도의 십자가가 헛되지 않게 하려는 것입니다.
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.십자가의 말씀이 멸망하는 자들에게는 어리석은 것이지만, 구원을 받는 우리에게는 하나님의 능력입니다.
19 For it is written, “ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.”For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.성경에 기록되기를 "내가 지혜로운 자들의 지혜를 멸하고, 총명한 자들의 총명을 헛되게 하리라" 하였습니다.
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’ t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?지혜로운 자가 어디 있습니까? 학자가 어디 있습니까? 이 세상의 변론가가 어디 있습니까? 하나님께서 이 세상의 지혜를 어리석게 만드시지 않았습니까?
21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’ t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.하나님의 지혜 안에서, 세상이 자기 지혜로는 하나님을 알지 못하였으므로, 하나님께서는 전도의 어리석음으로 믿는 자들을 구원하시기를 기뻐하셨습니다.
22 For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom:유대 사람은 표적을 구하고 그리스 사람은 지혜를 찾으나,
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness;우리는 십자가에 못 박히신 그리스도를 전합니다. 이것이 유대 사람에게는 걸림돌이요 이방 사람에게는 어리석은 것이지만,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.부르심을 받은 자들에게는, 유대 사람이든 그리스 사람이든, 그리스도는 하나님의 능력이요 하나님의 지혜입니다.
25 because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.하나님의 어리석음이 사람보다 지혜롭고, 하나님의 약하심이 사람보다 강하기 때문입니다.
26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:형제 여러분, 여러분이 부르심을 받은 것을 보십시오. 육신을 따라 지혜로운 자가 많지 않고, 능력 있는 자가 많지 않으며, 가문이 좋은 자가 많지 않습니다.
27 but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong.but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;그러나 하나님께서는 지혜로운 자들을 부끄럽게 하시려고 세상의 어리석은 것들을 택하셨고, 강한 것들을 부끄럽게 하시려고 세상의 약한 것들을 택하셨습니다.
28 God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that don’ t exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist,and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:또 하나님께서는 있는 것들을 폐하시려고 세상의 천한 것들과 멸시받는 것들과 없는 것들을 택하셨습니다.
29 that no flesh should boast before God.that no flesh should glory before God.이는 아무 육체도 하나님 앞에서 자랑하지 못하게 하려는 것입니다.
30 Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:그러나 여러분이 그리스도 예수 안에 있게 된 것은 하나님께로부터 난 것입니다. 그분은 하나님께로부터 와서 우리에게 지혜가 되시고, 의와 거룩함과 구속이 되셨습니다.
31 that, as it is written, “ He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.이는 성경에 기록된 대로 "자랑하는 자는 주 안에서 자랑하라" 하기 위함입니다.
