1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Haven’ t I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Aren’ t you my work in the Lord?Am I not free? am I not an apostle? have I not seen Jesus our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?나는 자유롭지 않습니까? 나는 사도가 아닙니까? 나는 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 보지 않았습니까? 여러분은 주 안에서 내가 일한 열매가 아닙니까?
2 If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.내가 다른 사람들에게는 사도가 아니라 하더라도, 적어도 여러분에게는 사도입니다. 여러분이 바로 주 안에서 내 사도직을 보증하는 도장이기 때문입니다.
3 My defense to those who examine me is this:My defence to them that examine me is this.나를 따져 묻는 사람들에게 내가 내놓는 변론은 이것입니다.
4 Have we no right to eat and to drink?Have we no right to eat and to drink?우리에게는 먹고 마실 권리가 없습니까?
5 Have we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?우리에게는 다른 사도들이나 주의 형제들이나 게바처럼, 믿는 아내를 데리고 다닐 권리가 없습니까?
6 Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not work?Or I only and Barnabas, have we not a right to forbear working?아니면 나와 바나바만 일하지 않을 권리가 없다는 것입니까?
7 What soldier ever serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and doesn’ t eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and doesn’ t drink from the flock’s milk?What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?자기 비용으로 군 복무를 하는 군인이 어디 있습니까? 포도원을 가꾸고서 그 열매를 먹지 않는 사람이 어디 있습니까? 양 떼를 치면서 그 젖을 마시지 않는 사람이 어디 있습니까?
8 Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or doesn’ t the law also say the same thing?Do I speak these things after the manner of men? or saith not the law also the same?내가 이것을 단지 사람의 생각대로 말하는 것입니까? 율법도 같은 것을 말하지 않습니까?
9 For it is written in the law of Moses, “ You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it for the oxen that God cares,For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. Is it for the oxen that God careth,모세의 율법에 "곡식을 밟아 떠는 소에게 망을 씌우지 말라"고 기록되어 있습니다. 하나님께서 소를 위해 이렇게 마음 쓰시는 것입니까?
10 or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.or saith he it assuredly for our sake? Yea, for our sake it was written: because he that ploweth ought to plow in hope, and he that thresheth, to thresh in hope of partaking.아니면 분명히 우리를 위해 말씀하시는 것입니까? 그렇습니다. 우리를 위해 기록된 것입니다. 밭 가는 사람은 소망을 품고 밭을 갈아야 하고, 타작하는 사람은 그 몫을 받을 소망을 품고 타작해야 하기 때문입니다.
11 If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things?우리가 여러분에게 영적인 것을 뿌렸는데, 여러분에게서 육적인 것을 거둔다면 그것이 그렇게 대단한 일입니까?
12 If others partake of this right over you, don’ t we yet more? Nevertheless we didn’ t use this right, but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the Good News of Christ.If others partake of this right over you, do not we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right; but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.다른 사람들도 여러분에 대해 이 권리를 누린다면, 우리는 더욱 그렇지 않겠습니까? 그러나 우리는 이 권리를 쓰지 않았습니다. 오히려 그리스도의 복음에 아무런 방해가 되지 않도록 모든 것을 참습니다.
13 Don’ t you know that those who serve around sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the altar have their portion with the altar?Know ye not that they that minister about sacred things eat of the things of the temple, and they that wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar?거룩한 일을 맡아 섬기는 사람들이 성전의 것을 먹고, 제단에서 일하는 사람들이 제단의 제물을 나누어 받는다는 것을 여러분은 알지 못합니까?
14 Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Good News should live from the Good News.Even so did the Lord ordain that they that proclaim the gospel should live of the gospel.이와 같이 주께서도 복음을 전하는 사람들이 복음으로 살아가도록 정하셨습니다.
15 But I have used none of these things, and I don’ t write these things that it may be done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my boasting void.But I have used none of these things: and I write not these things that it may be so done in my case; for it were good for me rather to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.그러나 나는 이런 것을 하나도 쓰지 않았습니다. 그리고 내가 이런 것을 쓴 것은 나에게 그렇게 해 달라는 뜻이 아닙니다. 누가 나의 이 자랑을 헛되게 하는 것보다는, 차라리 죽는 편이 내게 낫기 때문입니다.
16 For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about, for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me if I don’t preach the Good News.For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.내가 복음을 전한다 해도 자랑할 것이 없습니다. 그것은 내게 지워진 피할 수 없는 의무이기 때문입니다. 내가 복음을 전하지 않으면 내게 화가 미칩니다.
17 For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship intrusted to me.내가 이 일을 내 뜻으로 한다면 상을 받겠지만, 내 뜻이 아니라 해도 나는 맡겨진 사명을 위임받은 것입니다.
18 What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel.그러면 내 상은 무엇입니까? 그것은 내가 복음을 전할 때에 그리스도의 복음을 값없이 전하여, 복음 안에서 내게 있는 권리를 다 쓰지 않는 것입니다.
19 For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.For though I was free from all men, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.나는 모든 사람에게서 자유로웠으나, 더 많은 사람을 얻으려고 스스로 모든 사람의 종이 되었습니다.
20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;유대 사람들을 얻으려고 유대 사람들에게는 유대 사람처럼 되었고, 율법 아래 있는 사람들을 얻으려고 율법 아래 있는 사람들에게는 율법 아래 있는 사람처럼 되었습니다.
21 to those who are without law, as without law ( not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ ), that I might win those who are without law.to them that are without law, as without law, not being without law to God, but under law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law.율법 없는 사람들을 얻으려고 율법 없는 사람들에게는 율법 없는 사람처럼 되었습니다. 그렇다고 내가 하나님께 율법 없는 자가 아니라, 그리스도의 법 아래 있는 자입니다.
22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak: I am become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.약한 사람들을 얻으려고 약한 사람들에게는 약한 사람처럼 되었습니다. 어떻게 해서든 몇 사람이라도 구원하려고, 나는 모든 사람에게 모든 것이 되었습니다.
23 Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it.And I do all things for the gospel’s sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof.나는 복음을 위해 이 모든 일을 합니다. 나도 그 복음에 함께 참여하는 사람이 되려는 것입니다.
24 Don’ t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, so that you may win.Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.경기장에서 달리는 사람들이 모두 달리지만 상을 받는 사람은 하나뿐이라는 것을 여러분은 알지 못합니까? 그러니 여러분도 상을 받도록 그렇게 달리십시오.
25 Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.경기에 나서는 사람마다 모든 일에 절제합니다. 그들은 썩어질 면류관을 받으려고 그렇게 하지만, 우리는 썩지 않을 면류관을 받으려고 그렇게 합니다.
26 I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air:그러므로 나는 목표 없이 달리는 사람처럼 달리지 않고, 허공을 치는 사람처럼 싸우지 않습니다.
27 but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.도리어 나는 내 몸을 쳐서 복종시킵니다. 다른 사람들에게 복음을 전하고 나서, 정작 나 자신이 버림받지 않으려는 것입니다.
