1 Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!시온에서 안일하게 지내는 자들과 사마리아 산에서 안전하다고 여기는 자들에게 화가 있다. 너희는 뭇 나라 가운데 으뜸가는 나라의 이름난 사람들이요, 이스라엘 집이 너희를 찾아온다.
2 Go to Calneh, and see. From there go to Hamath the great. Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are they better than these kingdoms? Is their border greater than your border?Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?갈레로 건너가서 보고, 거기서 큰 성읍 하맛으로 가며, 블레셋 사람의 가드로 내려가 보라. 그 나라들이 이 왕국들보다 나으냐? 그들의 영토가 너희 영토보다 넓으냐?
3 Alas for you who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near,— ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;너희는 재앙의 날이 멀다고 미루면서 폭력의 자리를 가까이 끌어들이는구나.
4 who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the middle of the stall,that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;너희는 상아 침상에 누우며 안락의자에 길게 몸을 뻗고, 양 떼에서 골라낸 어린 양과 우리 가운데서 살진 송아지를 잡아먹는다.
5 who strum on the strings of a harp, who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;that sing idle songs to the sound of the viol; that invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;너희는 다윗처럼 한다며 비파 줄을 튕기고, 스스로 악기를 만들어 낸다.
6 who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils, but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.너희는 대접에 가득 담은 포도주를 마시고 가장 좋은 기름을 몸에 바르면서도, 요셉이 당하는 고난은 슬퍼하지 않는다.
7 Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive. The feasting and lounging will end.Therefore shall they now go captive with the first that go captive; and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.그러므로 이제 그들은 사로잡혀 가는 자들 가운데 맨 앞에 끌려갈 것이요, 흥청대며 누워 즐기던 잔치도 끝날 것이다.
8 “ The Lord Yahweh has sworn by himself,” says Yahweh, the God of Armies: “ I abhor the pride of Jacob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces; therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.주 여호와께서 자신을 두고 맹세하셨다. 만군의 하나님 여호와께서 말씀하신다. "내가 야곱의 교만을 싫어하고 그의 요새들을 미워하니, 그 성읍과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 넘겨주겠다.
9 It will happen that if ten men remain in one house, they will die.And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.한 집에 열 사람이 남아 있더라도 그들이 다 죽을 것이다.
10 “ When a man’s relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, ‘ Is there yet any with you?’ And he says, ‘ No;’ then he will say, ‘Hush! Indeed we must not mention Yahweh’s name.’And when a man’s uncle shall take him up, even he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is in the innermost parts of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No; then shall he say, Hold thy peace; for we may not make mention of the name of Jehovah.어떤 사람의 친척, 곧 그 시신을 불사를 자가 그를 메고 집에서 시신을 끌어내며, 집 안쪽 깊숙이 있는 사람에게 '아직 너와 함께 있는 사람이 있느냐?' 하고 묻겠고, 그가 '없다.' 하면, 다시 이르기를 '쉿! 우리가 여호와의 이름을 입에 올려서는 안 된다.' 하리라.
11 “ For, behold, Yahweh commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.For, behold, Jehovah commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten with breaches, and the little house with clefts.보라, 여호와께서 명령하시니, 큰 집은 산산조각이 나고 작은 집은 부서져 가루가 될 것이다.
12 Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness,Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? that ye have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;말이 어찌 바위 벼랑 위를 달리겠으며, 사람이 어찌 거기서 소로 밭을 갈겠느냐? 그런데도 너희는 공의를 독으로, 의의 열매를 쓴 것으로 바꾸어 놓았다.
13 you who rejoice in a thing of nothing, who say, ‘Haven’t we taken for ourselves horns by our own strength?’ye that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?너희는 헛것을 두고 기뻐하며 말하기를 '우리가 우리 힘으로 뿔들을 차지하지 않았느냐?' 하는구나.
14 For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, house of Israel,” says Yahweh, the God of Armies; “ and they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of the Arabah.”For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath unto the brook of the Arabah.만군의 하나님 여호와께서 말씀하신다. "이스라엘 집아, 보라, 내가 한 나라를 일으켜 너희를 치게 하리니, 그들이 하맛 어귀에서부터 아라바 시내에 이르기까지 너희를 괴롭힐 것이다."
