1 Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, a basket of summer fruit.주 여호와께서 내게 이렇게 보여 주셨다. 보라, 여름 과일 한 광주리가 있었다.
2 He said, “ Amos, what do you see?” I said, “ A basket of summer fruit.” Then Yahweh said to me, “ The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said Jehovah unto me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.그분께서 말씀하셨다. "아모스야, 무엇이 보이느냐?" 내가 대답했다. "여름 과일 한 광주리입니다." 그러자 여호와께서 내게 말씀하셨다. "내 백성 이스라엘에게 끝이 이르렀다. 내가 다시는 그들을 그냥 지나치지 않겠다.
3 The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh. “ The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.And the songs of the temple shall be wailings in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah: the dead bodies shall be many; in every place shall they cast them forth with silence.그날에는 성전의 노랫소리가 통곡 소리로 바뀔 것이다." 주 여호와께서 말씀하신다. "시체가 많아질 것이며, 곳곳에서 사람들이 잠잠히 그것들을 내던질 것이다."
4 Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,Hear this, O ye that would swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,가난한 사람을 삼키려 하고 이 땅의 빈곤한 사람을 망하게 하는 자들아, 이 말을 들으라.
5 saying, ‘ When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;너희는 이렇게 말한다. "초하루 축제가 언제 지나야 우리가 곡식을 팔 수 있을까? 안식일이 언제 끝나야 우리가 밀을 내다 팔 수 있을까?" 너희는 되를 작게 하고 저울추를 무겁게 하며, 거짓된 저울로 속임수를 부린다.
6 that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’”that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the refuse of the wheat?또 너희는 은으로 가난한 사람을 사들이고 신 한 켤레 값으로 빈곤한 사람을 사들이며, 밀 찌꺼기까지 함께 팔려고 한다.
7 Yahweh has sworn by the pride of Jacob, “Surely I will never forget any of their works.Jehovah hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.여호와께서 야곱의 영광을 두고 맹세하셨다. "내가 그들이 한 모든 일을 결코 잊지 않겠다.
8 Won’t the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? yea, it shall rise up wholly like the River; and it shall be troubled and sink again, like the River of Egypt.이 일로 땅이 떨지 않겠으며, 그 안에 사는 모든 사람이 슬퍼하지 않겠느냐? 정녕 그 땅이 나일강처럼 온통 솟아오르고, 이집트의 강처럼 출렁이다가 다시 가라앉을 것이다."
9 It will happen in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh, “ that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.주 여호와께서 말씀하신다. "그날에 내가 한낮에 해를 지게 하고, 환한 대낮에 땅을 어둡게 하겠다.
10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.내가 너희 축제를 슬픔으로, 너희 모든 노래를 애곡으로 바꾸겠다. 내가 모든 사람의 허리에 베옷을 두르게 하고 모든 머리를 대머리가 되게 하겠다. 내가 그것을 외아들을 잃은 슬픔처럼, 그 끝을 비통한 날처럼 만들겠다.
11 Behold, the days come,” says the Lord Yahweh, “ that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing Yahweh’s words.Behold, the days come, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Jehovah.보라, 그날이 온다." 주 여호와께서 말씀하신다. "그때에 내가 이 땅에 기근을 보내겠다. 그것은 양식이 없어 굶주리는 것도 아니고 물이 없어 목마른 것도 아니라, 여호와의 말씀을 듣지 못하는 기근이다.
12 They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek Yahweh’s word, and will not find it.And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of Jehovah, and shall not find it.사람들이 이 바다에서 저 바다로, 북쪽에서 동쪽으로 떠돌아다닐 것이다. 그들이 여호와의 말씀을 찾으려고 이리저리 뛰어다니겠지만 찾지 못할 것이다.
13 In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst.In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst.그날에는 아름다운 처녀들과 젊은 남자들도 목이 말라 쓰러질 것이다.
14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, ‘ As your god, Dan, lives,’ and, ‘ As the way of Beersheba lives,’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, As thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, As the way of Beer-sheba liveth; they shall fall, and never rise up again.사마리아의 죄를 두고 맹세하며 '단아, 네 신이 살아 있음을 두고 맹세한다'라고 하고, 또 '브엘세바의 길이 살아 있음을 두고 맹세한다'라고 말하는 자들, 그들은 쓰러져서 다시는 일어나지 못할 것이다."
