1 Moreover, brothers, we make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the assemblies of Macedonia,Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God which hath been given in the churches of Macedonia;형제 여러분, 우리는 마케도니아의 여러 교회에 베풀어진 하나님의 은혜를 여러분에게 알려 드립니다.
2 how in a severe ordeal of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their generosity.how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.그들은 환난의 극심한 시련 가운데서도 넘치는 기쁨과 극심한 가난이 어우러져 풍성한 너그러움으로 흘러넘쳤습니다.
3 For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,내가 증언하건대, 그들은 힘 닿는 대로, 아니 힘에 겨울 만큼 자원해서 드렸습니다.
4 begging us with much entreaty to receive this grace and the fellowship in the service to the saints.beseeching us with much entreaty in regard of this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the saints:그들은 성도를 섬기는 일에 동참하는 이 은혜에 자기들도 참여하게 해 달라고 우리에게 간곡히 청했습니다.
5 This was not as we had expected, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.and this, not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.그들은 우리가 바라던 것 이상으로, 먼저 자기 자신을 주께 드리고, 또 하나님의 뜻을 따라 우리에게도 드렸습니다.
6 So we urged Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace.Insomuch that we exhorted Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace also.그래서 우리는 디도가 전에 이 은혜의 일을 시작했던 것처럼 여러분 가운데서도 그것을 끝까지 이루도록 권했습니다.
7 But as you abound in everything — in faith, utterance, knowledge, all earnestness, and in your love to us —see that you also abound in this grace.But as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.여러분이 믿음과 말과 지식과 모든 간절함과 우리를 향한 사랑에서 모든 일에 넘치는 것처럼, 이 은혜의 일에서도 넘치게 하십시오.
8 I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.내가 이것을 명령으로 말하는 것이 아니라, 다른 이들의 간절함을 통해 여러분의 사랑이 참된지도 시험해 보려는 것입니다.
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.여러분은 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜를 압니다. 그분은 부요하셨으나 여러분을 위해 가난하게 되셨으니, 이는 여러분이 그분의 가난을 통해 부요해지게 하려는 것이었습니다.
10 I give advice in this: it is expedient for you who were the first to start a year ago, not only to do, but also to be willing.And herein I give my judgment: for this is expedient for you, who were the first to make a beginning a year ago, not only to do, but also to will.내가 이 일에 대해 의견을 드립니다. 이는 여러분에게 유익합니다. 여러분은 일 년 전에 행하는 일뿐 아니라 자원하는 마음에서도 먼저 시작한 사람들이었습니다.
11 But now complete the doing also, that as there was the readiness to be willing, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.But now complete the doing also; that as there was the readiness to will, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.이제는 그 일을 끝까지 이루십시오. 자원하려는 마음이 있었던 것처럼, 여러분의 형편에 따라 완성도 있게 하십시오.
12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’ t have.For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according as a man hath, not according as he hath not.자원하는 마음만 있으면, 없는 것을 따라서가 아니라 있는 것을 따라 받으실 만한 것이 됩니다.
13 For this is not that others may be eased and you distressed,For I say not this that others may be eased and ye distressed;이는 다른 이들은 편하게 하고 여러분은 곤궁하게 하려는 것이 아니라,
14 but for equality. Your abundance at this present time supplies their lack, that their abundance also may become a supply for your lack, that there may be equality.but by equality: your abundance being a supply at this present time for their want, that their abundance also may become a supply for your want; that there may be equality:균등하게 하려는 것입니다. 지금 여러분의 넉넉함이 그들의 부족함을 채우고, 또한 그들의 넉넉함이 여러분의 부족함을 채워서 균등하게 되게 하려는 것입니다.
15 As it is written, “ He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”as it is written, He that gathered much had nothing over; and he that gathered little had no lack.기록된 대로, "많이 거둔 사람도 남은 것이 없었고, 적게 거둔 사람도 모자라지 않았습니다."
16 But thanks be to God, who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.But thanks be to God, who putteth the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.그러나 여러분을 위한 이 같은 간절한 마음을 디도의 마음속에 넣어 주신 하나님께 감사를 드립니다.
17 For he indeed accepted our exhortation, but being himself very earnest, he went out to you of his own accord.For he accepted indeed our exhortation; but being himself very earnest, he went forth unto you of his own accord.그는 우리의 권고를 받아들였을 뿐 아니라, 스스로도 매우 간절하여 자원해서 여러분에게로 갔습니다.
18 We have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the Good News is known throughout all the assemblies.And we have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the gospel is spread through all the churches;우리는 복음을 전하는 일로 모든 교회에서 칭찬받는 그 형제를 그와 함께 보냈습니다.
19 Not only so, but he was also appointed by the assemblies to travel with us in this grace, which is served by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and to show our readiness.and not only so, but who was also appointed by the churches to travel with us in the matter of this grace, which is ministered by us to the glory of the Lord, and to show our readiness:그뿐 아니라 그는 여러 교회에서 임명을 받아, 주님 자신의 영광을 위하고 우리의 준비된 마음을 보이기 위해 우리가 섬기는 이 은혜의 일에 우리와 함께 다니도록 세움을 받았습니다.
20 We are avoiding this, that any man should blame us concerning this abundance which is administered by us.avoiding this, that any man should blame us in the matter of this bounty which is ministered by us:우리는 우리가 맡아 진행하는 이 많은 헌금에 대해 누구도 우리를 비난하지 못하도록 조심하고 있습니다.
21 Having regard for honorable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.for we take thought for things honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.우리는 주님 앞에서뿐 아니라 사람들 앞에서도 떳떳한 일에 마음을 쓰기 때문입니다.
22 We have sent with them our brother whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he has in you.And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he hath in you.또 우리는 여러 가지 일에서 여러 번 간절함을 시험해 본 우리 형제를 그들과 함께 보냈습니다. 그는 여러분을 크게 신뢰하기에 이제 더욱 간절합니다.
23 As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker for you. As for our brothers, they are the apostles of the assemblies, the glory of Christ.Whether any inquire about Titus, he is my partner and my fellow-worker to you-ward; or our brethren, they are the messengers of the churches, they are the glory of Christ.디도로 말하면, 그는 나의 동역자요 여러분을 위한 동료입니다. 우리 형제들로 말하면, 그들은 여러 교회의 사도들이며 그리스도의 영광입니다.
24 Therefore show the proof of your love to them before the assemblies, and of our boasting on your behalf.Show ye therefore unto them in the face of the churches the proof of your love, and of our glorying on your behalf.그러므로 여러 교회 앞에서 그들에게 여러분의 사랑의 증거와, 우리가 여러분을 두고 자랑한 것을 보여 주십시오.
