1 But I determined this for myself, that I would not come to you again in sorrow.But I determined this for myself, that I would not come again to you with sorrow.그래서 나는 다시는 슬픔 가운데 여러분에게 가지 않기로 마음을 정했습니다.
2 For if I make you grieve, then who will make me glad but he who is made to grieve by me?For if I make you sorry, who then is he that maketh me glad but he that is made sorry by me?내가 여러분을 슬프게 한다면, 나 때문에 슬퍼하는 바로 그 사람 말고 누가 나를 기쁘게 하겠습니까?
3 And I wrote this very thing to you, so that when I came, I wouldn’ t have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all that my joy would be shared by all of you.And I wrote this very thing, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.내가 바로 이것을 여러분에게 써 보낸 것은, 내가 갔을 때에 마땅히 나를 기쁘게 해야 할 사람들에게서 도리어 슬픔을 얻지 않으려는 것이었습니다. 나는 여러분 모두에 대해, 내 기쁨이 곧 여러분 모두의 기쁨인 줄을 확신합니다.
4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that you should be made to grieve, but that you might know the love that I have so abundantly for you.For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be made sorry, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.내가 큰 환난과 마음의 괴로움 가운데서 많은 눈물로 여러분에게 써 보낸 것은, 여러분을 슬프게 하려는 것이 아니라, 내가 여러분을 향해 얼마나 넘치게 사랑하는지를 여러분이 알게 하려는 것이었습니다.
5 But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow not to me, but in part ( that I not press too heavily) to you all.But if any hath caused sorrow, he hath caused sorrow, not to me, but in part ( that I press not too heavily) to you all.그런데 어떤 사람이 슬픔을 끼쳤다면, 그는 나에게 슬픔을 끼친 것이 아니라, 지나치게 말하지 않으려 하지만, 어느 정도는 여러분 모두에게 슬픔을 끼친 것입니다.
6 This punishment which was inflicted by the many is sufficient for such a one;Sufficient to such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the many;그런 사람에게는 많은 사람에게서 받은 이 징계로 충분합니다.
7 so that, on the contrary, you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his excessive sorrow.so that contrariwise ye should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.그러므로 도리어 여러분은 그를 용서하고 위로해 주어야 합니다. 그렇게 하지 않으면 그가 지나친 슬픔에 잠겨 버릴까 염려됩니다.
8 Therefore I beg you to confirm your love toward him.Wherefore I beseech you to confirm your love toward him.그래서 나는 여러분에게 그를 향한 사랑을 다시 확인해 주기를 간곡히 부탁합니다.
9 For to this end I also wrote, that I might know the proof of you, whether you are obedient in all things.For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye are obedient in all things.내가 이것을 써 보낸 것도, 여러분이 모든 일에 순종하는지 그 증거를 알아보려는 것이었습니다.
10 Now I also forgive whomever you forgive anything. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ,But to whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also: for what I also have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, for your sakes have I forgiven it in the presence of Christ;여러분이 무엇이든 용서하면 나도 용서합니다. 내가 무엇이든 용서한 것이 있다면, 그것은 여러분을 위해 그리스도 앞에서 용서한 것입니다.
11 that no advantage may be gained over us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.that no advantage may be gained over us by Satan: for we are not ignorant of his devices.이는 사탄에게 우리가 이용당하지 않게 하려는 것입니다. 우리는 그의 계략을 모르지 않습니다.
12 Now when I came to Troas for the Good News of Christ, and when a door was opened to me in the Lord,Now when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and when a door was opened unto me in the Lord,내가 그리스도의 복음을 전하려고 드로아에 갔을 때, 주 안에서 나에게 문이 열렸습니다.
13 I had no relief for my spirit, because I didn’ t find Titus my brother, but taking my leave of them, I went out into Macedonia.I had no relief for my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went forth into Macedonia.그러나 내 형제 디도를 만나지 못해 내 마음에 안식이 없었으므로, 나는 그들과 작별하고 마케도니아로 떠나갔습니다.
14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place.But thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place.그러나 하나님께 감사드립니다. 하나님께서는 항상 그리스도 안에서 우리를 이끌어 개선 행렬에 세우시고, 우리를 통해 그분을 아는 향기로운 지식을 모든 곳에 드러내십니다.
15 For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God in those who are being saved and in those who perish:For we are a sweet savor of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish;우리는 구원받는 사람들 가운데서나 멸망하는 사람들 가운데서나, 하나님께 그리스도의 향기이기 때문입니다.
16 to the one a stench from death to death, to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?to the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?멸망하는 사람들에게는 죽음에서 죽음에 이르는 냄새요, 구원받는 사람들에게는 생명에서 생명에 이르는 향기입니다. 이 일을 누가 감당할 수 있겠습니까?
17 For we are not as so many, peddling the word of God. But as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, we speak in Christ.For we are not as the many, corrupting the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.우리는 하나님의 말씀을 팔아 이익을 챙기는 많은 사람과 같지 않습니다. 오직 진실함으로, 하나님께로부터 온 사람답게, 하나님 앞에서 그리스도 안에서 말합니다.
