1 “ Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is over Yahweh’s house, because they have broken my covenant and rebelled against my law.Set the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle he cometh against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.나팔을 네 입에 대어라! 독수리 같은 것이 여호와의 집을 덮치는구나. 이는 그들이 내 언약을 깨뜨리고 내 율법을 거슬러 거역하였기 때문이다.
2 They cry to me, ‘ My God, we, Israel, acknowledge you!’They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee.그들이 내게 부르짖기를 "나의 하나님, 우리 이스라엘이 주를 압니다" 한다.
3 Israel has cast off that which is good. The enemy will pursue him.Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him.이스라엘이 선한 것을 던져 버렸으니 원수가 그를 뒤쫓으리라.
4 They have set up kings, but not by me. They have made princes, and I didn’t approve. Of their silver and their gold they have made themselves idols, that they may be cut off.They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.그들이 왕들을 세웠으나 나로 말미암지 않았고, 통치자들을 세웠으나 내가 인정하지 않았다. 그들이 자기들의 은과 금으로 스스로 우상을 만들었으니, 이는 결국 끊어지고 말 것이다.
5 Let Samaria throw out his calf idol! My anger burns against them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?사마리아야, 네 송아지 우상을 던져 버려라! 내 진노가 그들을 향해 타오른다. 그들이 언제쯤 깨끗해질 수 있겠느냐?
6 For this is even from Israel! The workman made it, and it is no God; indeed, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God; yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.이것은 바로 이스라엘에서 나온 것이다! 장인이 그것을 만들었으니 그것은 하나님이 아니다. 참으로 사마리아의 송아지는 산산조각이 나리라.
7 For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing grain; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.그들이 바람을 심었으니 회오리바람을 거두리라. 그에게는 서 있는 곡식이 없고, 줄기에서는 이삭이 나지 않으리라. 설령 난다 하여도 낯선 사람들이 그것을 삼켜 버리리라.
8 Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a worthless thing.Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein none delighteth.이스라엘이 삼켜졌으니, 이제 그들은 뭇 나라 가운데서 쓸모없는 물건처럼 되었다.
9 For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey wandering alone. Ephraim has hired lovers for himself.For they are gone up to Assyria, like a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.그들이 홀로 떠도는 들나귀처럼 앗시리아로 올라갔으니, 에브라임이 스스로 정부들을 사들였구나.
10 But although they sold themselves among the nations, I will now gather them; and they begin to waste away because of the oppression of the king of mighty ones.Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be diminished by reason of the burden of the king of princes.비록 그들이 뭇 나라 가운데서 자기들을 팔았으나, 이제 내가 그들을 모으리라. 그리고 그들은 강한 자들의 왕이 가하는 압제 때문에 시들어 가기 시작하리라.
11 Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they became for him altars for sinning.Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars for sinning, altars have been unto him for sinning.에브라임이 죄를 짓기 위해 제단을 많이 만들었으니, 그 제단들이 도리어 그에게 죄짓는 제단이 되었다.
12 I wrote for him the many things of my law, but they were regarded as a strange thing.I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing.내가 그를 위해 내 율법의 많은 것을 기록해 주었으나, 그것들이 낯선 것처럼 여겨졌다.
13 As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice meat and eat it, but Yahweh doesn’t accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.내게 드리는 예물의 제사로 말하자면, 그들이 고기를 잡아 먹기는 하나 여호와께서 그것을 받지 않으신다. 이제 그가 그들의 죄악을 기억하시고 그들의 죄를 벌하시리니, 그들이 이집트로 돌아가리라.
14 For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses.”For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.이스라엘은 자기를 지으신 분을 잊고 궁궐들을 지었으며, 유다는 견고한 성읍들을 많이 세웠다. 그러나 내가 그 성읍들에 불을 보내리니, 그 불이 그 요새들을 삼키리라.
