1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he became guilty through Baal, he died.When Ephraim spake, there was trembling; he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.에브라임이 말하면 사람들이 떨었으니, 그가 이스라엘 가운데서 자신을 높였다. 그러나 그가 바알을 섬겨 죄를 짓더니 죽고 말았다.

4 “ Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.Yet I am Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou shalt know no god but me, and besides me there is no saviour.그러나 나는 이집트 땅에서부터 너의 하나님 여호와다. 너는 나 외에 다른 신을 알지 말라. 나 외에는 구원자가 없다.
5 I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.나는 광야에서, 그 메마른 땅에서 너를 알고 돌보았다.

7 Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.Therefore am I unto them as a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the way;그러므로 나는 그들에게 사자같이 되며, 표범처럼 길가에 숨어 노릴 것이다.
8 I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, and will tear the covering of their heart. There I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.나는 새끼 빼앗긴 곰처럼 그들을 만나, 그들의 심장을 싸고 있는 것을 찢어 버리고, 거기서 암사자처럼 그들을 삼킬 것이니, 들짐승이 그들을 찢을 것이다.
9 You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your helper.It is thy destruction, O Israel, that thou art against me, against thy help.이스라엘아, 네가 너를 돕는 나를 대적하니, 네가 멸망하는구나.
10 Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘ Give me a king and princes’?Where now is thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges, of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?이제 네 왕이 어디 있어서 네 모든 성읍에서 너를 구원하겠느냐? 네가 "내게 왕과 통치자들을 주소서" 하던 네 재판관들이 어디 있느냐?
11 I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.I have given thee a king in mine anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.내가 진노하여 네게 왕을 주었고, 분노하여 그를 데려가 버렸다.
12 The guilt of Ephraim is stored up. His sin is stored up.The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid up in store.에브라임의 죄악이 쌓여 봉인되어 있고, 그의 죄가 차곡차곡 저장되어 있다.
13 The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son, for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for it is time he should not tarry in the place of the breaking forth of children.해산하는 여인의 고통이 그에게 임할 것이다. 그는 지혜롭지 못한 자식이니, 때가 되어도 산문(産門)으로 나오지 않는 자와 같다.
14 I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death! Death, where are your plagues? Sheol, where is your destruction? “ Compassion will be hidden from my eyes.I will ransom them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from death: O death, where are thy plagues? O Sheol, where is thy destruction? repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.내가 그들을 스올의 권세에서 속량하며, 죽음에서 건져 내리라. 죽음아, 네 재앙이 어디 있느냐? 스올아, 네 멸망의 권세가 어디 있느냐? 긍휼이 내 눈에서 숨겨질 것이다.
15 Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of Yahweh coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the breath of Jehovah coming up from the wilderness; and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall make spoil of the treasure of all goodly vessels.그가 형제들 가운데서 비록 열매를 맺을지라도, 동풍이 불어올 것이니, 곧 광야에서 올라오는 여호와의 입김이라. 그의 샘이 마르고 그의 우물이 말라 버릴 것이며, 그 동풍이 모든 보배로운 그릇의 창고를 약탈할 것이다.
16 Samaria will bear her guilt, for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.”Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.사마리아가 자기 하나님을 거역하였으니, 그 죄를 짊어질 것이다. 그들은 칼에 쓰러지고, 그들의 어린아이들은 메어쳐 부서지며, 임신한 여인들은 배가 갈릴 것이다.
