2 The king said again to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, “ What is your petition, queen Esther? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.”And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.둘째 날에도 포도주를 마시는 잔치 자리에서 왕이 에스더에게 다시 말하였다. "에스더 왕후여, 그대의 청이 무엇이오? 그대로 들어주겠소. 그대의 소원이 무엇이오? 나라의 절반이라도 그대로 이루어 주겠소."
3 Then Esther the queen answered, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favor in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:그러자 에스더 왕후가 대답하였다. "왕이여, 제가 왕의 눈에 은총을 입었고 왕께서 좋게 여기신다면, 제 청대로 제 목숨을 살려 주시고 제 소원대로 제 민족을 살려 주십시오.
4 For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for male and female slaves, I would have held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king’s loss.”for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king’s damage.저와 제 민족이 팔려서 진멸당하고 죽임당하고 멸망하게 되었기 때문입니다. 만일 우리가 남종이나 여종으로 팔린 것이라면 제가 잠잠히 있었을 것입니다. 그런 손해라면 원수가 왕께 끼친 손실을 보상할 수도 없겠으나 그래도 잠잠했을 것입니다."
5 Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen, “ Who is he, and where is he who dared presume in his heart to do so?”Then spake the king Ahasuerus and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?그러자 아하수에로 왕이 에스더 왕후에게 말하였다. "감히 그런 일을 저지르려고 마음먹은 자가 누구이며 어디에 있소?"
6 Esther said, “ An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman!” Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.And Esther said, An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.에스더가 대답하였다. "그 대적이요 원수는 바로 이 악한 하만입니다!" 그러자 하만이 왕과 왕후 앞에서 두려움에 사로잡혔다.
7 The king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden. 8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “ Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the couch whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he even force the queen before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.왕이 왕궁 정원에서 포도주 잔치 자리로 돌아와 보니, 하만이 에스더가 있는 자리에 엎드려 있었다. 그러자 왕이 말하였다. "이자가 집 안에서 내 앞에서 왕후까지 욕보이려 하는가?" 이 말이 왕의 입에서 나오자, 사람들이 하만의 얼굴을 가렸다.
9 Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were with the king, said, “ Behold, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing at Haman’s house.” The king said, “ Hang him on it!”Then said Harbonah, one of the chamberlains that were before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman hath made for Mordecai, who spake good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. And the king said, Hang him thereon.그때 왕을 모시던 내시 가운데 하나인 하르보나가 말하였다. "보십시오, 하만이 왕을 위해 좋은 말을 전한 모르드개를 매달려고 만들어 놓은 오십 규빗 높이의 교수대가 하만의 집에 서 있습니다." 왕이 말하였다. "하만을 거기에 매달아라!"
