1 Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the entrance of the house.셋째 날이 되자 에스더는 왕후의 예복을 차려입고 왕궁 안뜰, 곧 왕의 거처를 마주한 곳에 섰다. 왕은 왕궁 안 왕좌에 앉아 그 거처의 입구를 마주 보고 있었다.
2 When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. So Esther came near and touched the top of the scepter.And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.왕이 왕후 에스더가 뜰에 서 있는 것을 보고는 그녀를 어여삐 여겨, 자기 손에 든 금 규를 에스더에게 내밀었다. 그러자 에스더가 가까이 다가가 그 규의 끝을 만졌다.
3 Then the king asked her, “ What would you like, queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you even to the half of the kingdom.”Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be given thee even to the half of the kingdom.왕이 그녀에게 물었다. "왕후 에스더여, 무엇을 원하시오? 무엇을 청하려 하시오? 나라의 절반이라도 그대에게 주겠소."
4 Esther said, “If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him.”And Esther said, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.에스더가 대답했다. "왕께서 좋게 여기신다면, 제가 준비한 잔치에 오늘 왕과 하만이 함께 오시기를 바랍니다."
5 Then the king said, “ Bring Haman quickly, so that it may be done as Esther has said.” So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that it may be done as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.그러자 왕이 말했다. "에스더가 말한 대로 되도록 하만을 빨리 데려오너라." 그래서 왕과 하만이 에스더가 준비한 잔치에 갔다.
6 The king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, “ What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.”And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.포도주를 마시는 잔치 자리에서 왕이 에스더에게 말했다. "그대의 소원이 무엇이오? 그대로 들어주겠소. 그대의 청이 무엇이오? 나라의 절반이라도 이루어 주겠소."
7 Then Esther answered and said, “ My petition and my request is this.Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is:에스더가 대답하여 말했다. "저의 소원이자 청은 이것입니다.
8 If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.”If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to-morrow as the king hath said.만일 제가 왕의 은혜를 입었고, 왕께서 저의 소원을 들어주시고 제 청을 이루어 주시는 것이 좋으시다면, 제가 왕과 하만을 위하여 또 한 번 잔치를 베풀겠사오니 그 자리에 두 분이 오시기를 바랍니다. 그러면 제가 내일 왕께서 말씀하신 대로 아뢰겠습니다."
9 Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.Then went Haman forth that day joyful and glad of heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he stood not up nor moved for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.그날 하만은 마음이 즐겁고 기뻐서 나갔다. 그러나 하만이 왕궁 문 앞에 있는 모르드개가 자기 앞에서 일어서지도 않고 움직이지도 않는 것을 보자, 모르드개에 대한 분노로 가득 찼다.
10 Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home. There, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.Nevertheless Haman refrained himself, and went home; and he sent and fetched his friends and Zeresh his wife.그래도 하만은 자기를 억누르고 집으로 돌아갔다. 그러고는 사람을 보내어 자기 친구들과 자기 아내 세레스를 불러 모았다.
11 Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.And Haman recounted unto them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.하만은 그들에게 자기 재산의 영화와 많은 자녀와, 왕이 자기를 높여 준 온갖 일과, 어떻게 자기를 왕의 대신들과 신하들보다 높이 세워 주었는지를 자랑하며 늘어놓았다.
12 Haman also said, “ Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow also am I invited by her together with the king.하만이 또 말했다. "그뿐 아니라 왕후 에스더가 자기가 베푼 잔치에 왕과 함께 나 말고는 아무도 들이지 않았소. 게다가 내일도 왕과 함께 나를 그 자리에 초대했소.
13 Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.그러나 유다 사람 모르드개가 왕궁 문에 앉아 있는 것을 보는 한, 이 모든 것이 내게 아무 소용이 없소."
14 Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, “ Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet.” This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.그러자 그의 아내 세레스와 모든 친구가 그에게 말했다. "높이가 오십 규빗 되는 교수대를 세우고, 아침에 왕께 아뢰어 모르드개를 그 위에 매달도록 하십시오. 그런 다음 왕과 함께 즐거이 잔치에 가십시오." 하만은 이 말을 좋게 여겨, 그 교수대를 세우게 했다.
