5 In the same hour, the fingers of a man’s hand came out and wrote near the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote.In the same hour came forth the fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.바로 그 순간 사람의 손가락이 나타나서, 왕궁 벽 등잔대 맞은편 회벽 위에 글을 썼다. 왕은 글을 쓰는 그 손의 부분을 보았다.

7 The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and shows me its interpretation shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. "누구든지 이 글을 읽고 그 해석을 내게 알려 주는 자는 자주색 옷을 입고 금 사슬을 목에 두르며, 이 나라의 셋째 통치자가 되리라."
8 Then all the king’s wise men came in; but they could not read the writing, and couldn’t make known to the king the interpretation.Then came in all the king’s wise men; but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation.그러자 왕의 모든 지혜로운 자들이 들어왔으나, 그들은 그 글을 읽지도 못하고 왕에게 그 해석을 알리지도 못하였다.

10 The queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house. The queen spoke and said, “ O king, live forever; don’t let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever; let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed.그때에 왕대비가 왕과 그의 귀족들의 말로 인하여 잔치 자리에 들어와서 말하였다. "왕이여, 만수무강하소서. 왕의 생각으로 두려워하지 마시고, 얼굴빛을 변치 마소서.
11 There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him. The king, Nebuchadnezzar, your father—yes, the king, your father— made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and soothsayers,There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;왕의 나라에 거룩한 신들의 영이 있는 한 사람이 있습니다. 왕의 아버지 시대에 그에게서 신들의 지혜 같은 빛과 총명과 지혜가 발견되었으며, 왕의 아버지 느부갓네살 왕께서, 곧 왕의 아버지께서 그를 마술사들과 술객들과 갈대아 사람들과 점쟁이들의 우두머리로 삼으셨습니다.
12 because an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting of dreams, showing of dark sentences, and dissolving of doubts were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. 13 Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “ Are you that Daniel of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?Then was Daniel brought in before the king. The king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, who art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?그리하여 다니엘이 왕 앞에 불려 왔다. 왕이 다니엘에게 말하였다. "네가 바로 그 다니엘이냐? 내 아버지 왕이 유다에서 끌어온 유다 포로의 자손 가운데 한 사람이냐?
14 I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you and that light, understanding, and excellent wisdom are found in you.I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in thee.내가 너에 대하여 들으니, 신들의 영이 네 안에 있고 빛과 총명과 뛰어난 지혜가 네게서 발견된다고 하더라.

16 But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and dissolve doubts. 17 Then Daniel answered before the king, “Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.그러자 다니엘이 왕 앞에서 대답하였다. "왕의 선물은 왕께서 가지시고, 왕의 상은 다른 사람에게 주소서. 그렇지만 제가 이 글을 왕께 읽어 드리고 그 해석을 왕께 알려 드리겠습니다.
18 “ To you, king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty.O thou king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty:왕이여, 지극히 높으신 하나님께서 왕의 아버지 느부갓네살에게 나라와 위대함과 영광과 위엄을 주셨습니다.
19 Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to.and because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down.그분이 그에게 주신 위대함 때문에 모든 백성과 나라와 언어가 그 앞에서 떨며 두려워하였습니다. 그는 죽이고 싶은 자를 죽이고, 살리고 싶은 자를 살리며, 높이고 싶은 자를 높이고, 낮추고 싶은 자를 낮추었습니다.

21 He was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the animals’, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. 22 “ You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this,그런데 그의 아들이신 왕 벨사살이여, 왕께서는 이 모든 것을 아시면서도 왕의 마음을 낮추지 아니하셨습니다.
23 but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy lords, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine from them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified.도리어 하늘의 주를 거슬러 스스로 높이셨습니다. 사람들이 그분의 집의 그릇들을 왕 앞에 가져왔고, 왕과 왕의 귀족들과 왕의 아내들과 후궁들이 그것으로 포도주를 마셨습니다. 그러면서 왕께서는 보지도 듣지도 알지도 못하는 은과 금과 놋과 쇠와 나무와 돌로 만든 신들을 찬양하셨습니다. 그러나 왕의 호흡을 손에 쥐고 계시며 왕의 모든 길을 주관하시는 하나님께는 영광을 돌리지 아니하셨습니다.
24 Then the part of the hand was sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.Then was the part of the hand sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.그러므로 그분 앞에서 그 손의 부분이 보내져서 이 글이 새겨진 것입니다.
25 “ This is the writing that was inscribed: ‘ MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’And this is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.새겨진 글은 이러합니다. 메네 메네 데겔 우바르신.
26 “ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE: God has counted your kingdom, and brought it to an end.This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and brought it to an end.그 일의 해석은 이러합니다. 메네는 하나님께서 왕의 나라를 세어 보시고 그것을 끝나게 하셨다는 것이요,
27 TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.TEKEL; thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.데겔은 왕께서 저울에 달려 보니 부족함이 드러났다는 것이요,
28 PERES: your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”PERES; thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.베레스는 왕의 나라가 나뉘어 메대 사람과 페르시아 사람에게 주어졌다는 것입니다."

31 Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.그리고 메대 사람 다리오가 그 나라를 받았으니, 그때 그의 나이는 예순두 살쯤이었다.
