1 “ As for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.And as for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him."나로 말하면, 메대 사람 다리오 왕 원년에 내가 일어나 그를 붙들어 주고 힘이 되어 주었다.
2 “ Now I will show you the truth. Behold, three more kings will stand up in Persia. The fourth will be far richer than all of them. When he has grown strong through his riches, he will stir up all against the realm of Greece.And now will I show thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and when he is waxed strong through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece.이제 내가 너에게 진실을 보여 주겠다. 보라, 페르시아에 아직 세 왕이 더 일어날 것이며, 네 번째 왕은 그들 모두보다 훨씬 더 부유할 것이다. 그가 재물로 강성해지면 모든 세력을 일으켜 그리스 왕국을 칠 것이다.
3 A mighty king will stand up, who will rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.그 뒤에 한 강한 왕이 일어나 큰 권세로 다스리며 자기 뜻대로 행할 것이다.
4 When he stands up, his kingdom will be broken and will be divided toward the four winds of the sky, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom will be plucked up, even for others besides these.And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion wherewith he ruled; for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others besides these.그러나 그가 일어선 뒤 그의 나라는 깨어져 하늘의 사방 바람을 향해 나뉠 것이다. 그 나라는 그의 후손에게 돌아가지 않고, 그가 다스리던 권세대로 이어지지도 않을 것이니, 그의 나라는 뿌리째 뽑혀 그들 외에 다른 사람들에게 넘어갈 것이다.
5 “ The king of the south will be strong. One of his princes will become stronger than him, and have dominion. His dominion will be a great dominion.And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.남방 왕이 강성해질 것이며, 그의 장수들 가운데 하나가 그보다 더 강해져 권세를 잡고 다스리리니, 그의 권세는 큰 권세가 될 것이다.
6 At the end of years they will join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make an agreement, but she will not retain the strength of her arm. He will also not stand, nor will his arm; but she will be given up, with those who brought her, and he who became the father of her, and he who strengthened her in those times.And at the end of years they shall join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the strength of her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in those times.여러 해가 지난 뒤 그들은 서로 동맹을 맺을 것이다. 남방 왕의 딸이 북방 왕에게 시집가 화친을 맺으려 하지만, 그 여인은 그 힘을 지키지 못하고 그 왕과 그의 세력도 서지 못할 것이다. 그 여인과 그를 데려온 자들과 그를 낳은 아버지와 그 시절에 그 여인을 도왔던 자가 다 넘겨질 것이다.
7 “ But out of a shoot from her roots one will stand up in his place, who will come to the army and will enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and will deal against them and will prevail.But out of a shoot from her roots shall one stand up in his place, who shall come unto the army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail.그러나 그 여인의 뿌리에서 난 한 싹이 그 자리를 이어 일어나, 군대를 거느리고 북방 왕의 요새로 들어가 그들을 쳐서 이길 것이다.
8 He will also carry their gods with their molten images, and with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, captive into Egypt. He will refrain some years from the king of the north.And also their gods, with their molten images, and with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, shall he carry captive into Egypt; and he shall refrain some years from the king of the north.또한 그는 그들의 신들과 부어 만든 우상들과 은과 금으로 만든 귀한 그릇들을 노략하여 이집트로 가져갈 것이며, 몇 해 동안은 북방 왕을 그냥 둘 것이다.
9 He will come into the realm of the king of the south, but he will return into his own land.And he shall come into the realm of the king of the south, but he shall return into his own land.북방 왕은 남방 왕의 영토로 쳐들어오겠지만 자기 땅으로 돌아갈 것이다.
10 His sons will wage war, and will assemble a multitude of great forces which will come on, and overflow, and pass through. They will return and wage war, even to his fortress.And his sons shall war, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces, which shall come on, and overflow, and pass through; and they shall return and war, even to his fortress.그의 아들들이 전쟁을 일으켜 큰 군대를 모을 것이며, 그 군대가 밀려와 홍수처럼 넘쳐 지나가고, 다시 돌아와 그의 요새에까지 이르러 싸울 것이다.
11 “ The king of the south will be moved with anger and will come out and fight with him, even with the king of the north. He will send out a great multitude, and the multitude will be given into his hand.And the king of the south shall be moved with anger, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north; and he shall set forth a great multitude, and the multitude shall be given into his hand.그러자 남방 왕이 크게 노하여 나아가 북방 왕과 맞서 싸울 것이며, 북방 왕이 큰 군대를 일으키지만 그 무리가 남방 왕의 손에 넘겨질 것이다.
12 The multitude will be carried off, and his heart will be exalted. He will cast down tens of thousands, but he won’t prevail.And the multitude shall be lifted up, and his heart shall be exalted; and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not prevail.그 무리가 쓸려 가면 남방 왕의 마음이 교만해져 수만 명을 쳐 쓰러뜨리겠으나, 끝까지 이기지는 못할 것이다.
13 The king of the north will return, and will send out a multitude greater than the former. He will come on at the end of the times, even of years, with a great army and with abundant supplies.And the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former; and he shall come on at the end of the times, even of years, with a great army and with much substance.북방 왕이 다시 돌아와 전보다 더 큰 군대를 일으키고, 여러 해가 지난 뒤에 큰 군대와 많은 물자를 거느리고 쳐들어올 것이다.
14 “ In those times many will stand up against the king of the south. Also the children of the violent among your people will lift themselves up to establish the vision, but they will fall.And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the children of the violent among thy people shall lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they shall fall.그 시절에 많은 사람들이 남방 왕을 대적하여 일어날 것이며, 네 백성 가운데 난폭한 자들도 환상을 이루려고 들고일어나겠으나, 그들은 쓰러질 것이다.
15 So the king of the north will come and cast up a mound, and take a well-fortified city. The forces of the south won’t stand, neither will his select troops, neither will there be any strength to stand.So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mound, and take a well-fortified city: and the forces of the south shall not stand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to stand.북방 왕이 와서 토성을 쌓고 견고한 성읍을 점령할 것이며, 남방의 군대는 버티지 못하고 그 정예 부대조차 막아 설 힘이 없을 것이다.
16 But he who comes against him will do according to his own will, and no one will stand before him. He will stand in the glorious land, and destruction will be in his hand.But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him; and he shall stand in the glorious land, and in his hand shall be destruction.그를 치러 오는 자는 자기 뜻대로 행하므로 그 앞에 설 자가 없을 것이며, 그가 영화로운 땅에 서리니 그의 손에 멸망의 권세가 있을 것이다.
17 He will set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him equitable conditions. He will perform them. He will give him the daughter of women, to destroy the kingdom, but she will not stand, and won’t be for him.And he shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him equitable conditions; and he shall perform them: and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she shall not stand, neither be for him.그가 온 나라의 힘을 다해 쳐들어오기로 마음먹고 공평한 조건을 내걸어 이행하려 할 것이며, 또 한 여인을 그에게 시집보내어 그 나라를 무너뜨리려 하겠으나, 그 여인은 서지 못하고 그의 편이 되지도 않을 것이다.
18 After this he will turn his face to the islands, and will take many, but a prince will cause the reproach offered by him to cease. Yes, moreover, he will cause his reproach to turn on him.After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; yea, moreover, he shall cause his reproach to turn upon him.그 뒤에 그가 해안 지방으로 얼굴을 돌려 많은 곳을 점령하겠으나, 한 장수가 그의 모욕을 그치게 하고 도리어 그 모욕을 그에게 되돌릴 것이다.
19 Then he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; but he will stumble and fall, and won’t be found.Then he shall turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; but he shall stumble and fall, and shall not be found.그러자 그가 자기 땅의 요새들로 얼굴을 돌리겠으나, 걸려 넘어져 쓰러지고 다시는 보이지 않을 것이다.
20 “ Then one who will cause a tax collector to pass through the kingdom to maintain its glory will stand up in his place; but within few days he shall be destroyed, not in anger, and not in battle.Then shall stand up in his place one that shall cause an exactor to pass through the glory of the kingdom; but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.그 자리를 이어 한 사람이 일어나 그 나라의 영화를 유지하려고 세금 징수관을 보내겠으나, 며칠 못 가서 그는 분노로도 아니고 전쟁으로도 아닌 채 망할 것이다.
21 “ In his place a contemptible person will stand up, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom; but he will come in time of security, and will obtain the kingdom by flatteries.And in his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries.그 자리를 이어 한 비천한 자가 일어나리니, 그에게는 나라의 영예가 주어지지 않았으나, 그가 평온한 때에 와서 아첨하는 말로 나라를 차지할 것이다.
22 The overwhelming forces will be overwhelmed from before him, and will be broken. Yes, also the prince of the covenant.And the overwhelming forces shall be overwhelmed from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.압도하는 군대가 그 앞에서 압도당하여 깨어질 것이며, 언약을 맺은 지도자도 그러할 것이다.
23 After the treaty made with him he will work deceitfully; for he will come up and will become strong with few people.And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully; for he shall come up, and shall become strong, with a small people.그와 동맹을 맺은 뒤에도 그는 속임수를 쓸 것이며, 적은 무리를 거느리고도 올라와 강성해질 것이다.
24 In time of security he will come even on the fattest places of the province. He will do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers. He will scatter among them prey, plunder, and wealth. Yes, he will devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.In time of security shall he come even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance: yea, he shall devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time.그가 평온한 때에 그 지방에서 가장 기름진 곳까지 쳐들어와, 자기 조상들도 그 조상의 조상들도 하지 못한 일을 행할 것이니, 노략한 물건과 빼앗은 재물을 부하들에게 흩어 주고, 한동안은 견고한 성들을 칠 계략을 꾸밀 것이다.
25 “ He will stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south will wage war in battle with an exceedingly great and mighty army, but he won’t stand; for they will devise plans against him.And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall war in battle with an exceeding great and mighty army; but he shall not stand; for they shall devise devices against him.그가 큰 군대를 거느리고 자기 힘과 용기를 떨쳐 남방 왕을 칠 것이며, 남방 왕도 심히 크고 강한 군대로 맞서 싸우겠으나, 그를 치려는 계략 때문에 버티지 못할 것이다.
26 Yes, those who eat of his delicacies will destroy him, and his army will be swept away. Many will fall down slain.Yea, they that eat of his dainties shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow; and many shall fall down slain.그의 음식을 먹는 자들이 그를 무너뜨리고, 그의 군대는 쓸려 갈 것이며, 많은 사람이 죽어 쓰러질 것이다.
27 As for both these kings, their hearts will be to do evil, and they will speak lies at one table; but it won’t prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time.And as for both these kings, their hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table: but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.이 두 왕은 마음으로 서로 해할 일을 꾀하며 한 상에서 거짓말을 주고받겠으나, 그 일은 이루어지지 않을 것이니, 정해진 때가 이르러야 끝이 오기 때문이다.
28 Then he will return into his land with great wealth. His heart will be against the holy covenant. He will take action, and return to his own land.Then shall he return into his land with great substance; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do his pleasure, and return to his own land.그 뒤에 그가 많은 재물을 가지고 자기 땅으로 돌아가는데, 그의 마음은 거룩한 언약을 거스를 것이며, 그가 제멋대로 행하고 자기 땅으로 돌아갈 것이다.
29 “ He will return at the appointed time and come into the south; but it won’t be in the latter time as it was in the former.At the time appointed he shall return, and come into the south; but it shall not be in the latter time as it was in the former.정해진 때에 그가 다시 돌아와 남방으로 쳐들어오겠으나, 이번에는 전과 같지 않을 것이다.
30 For ships of Kittim will come against him. Therefore he will be grieved, and will return, and have indignation against the holy covenant, and will take action. He will even return, and have regard to those who forsake the holy covenant.For ships of Kittim shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and shall return, and have indignation against the holy covenant, and shall do his pleasure: he shall even return, and have regard unto them that forsake the holy covenant.깃딤의 배들이 그를 치러 올 것이므로 그가 낙심하여 돌아가서, 거룩한 언약에 분노를 품고 제멋대로 행하며, 돌아가는 길에 거룩한 언약을 저버린 자들을 살펴 그들과 손잡을 것이다.
31 “ Forces from him will profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and will take away the continual burnt offering. Then they will set up the abomination that makes desolate.And forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt-offering, and they shall set up the abomination that maketh desolate.그의 편에서 군대가 일어나 성소 곧 그 견고한 곳을 더럽히고, 날마다 드리는 번제를 폐하며, 멸망케 하는 가증한 것을 세울 것이다.
32 He will corrupt those who do wickedly against the covenant by flatteries; but the people who know their God will be strong and take action.And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by flatteries; but the people that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.그가 언약을 거슬러 악을 행하는 자들을 아첨하는 말로 타락시키겠으나, 자기 하나님을 아는 백성은 강하여 큰일을 행할 것이다.
33 “ Those who are wise among the people will instruct many; yet they will fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, many days.And they that are wise among the people shall instruct many; yet they shall fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, many days.백성 가운데 지혜로운 자들이 많은 이들을 가르치겠으나, 여러 날 동안 그들은 칼과 불에, 사로잡힘과 노략에 쓰러질 것이다.
34 Now when they fall, they will be helped with a little help; but many will join themselves to them with flatteries.Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall join themselves unto them with flatteries.그들이 쓰러질 때에 작은 도움을 얻을 것이나, 많은 사람이 아첨하는 마음으로 그들에게 합류할 것이다.
35 Some of those who are wise will fall — to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end, because it is yet for the time appointed.And some of them that are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.지혜로운 자들 가운데 더러는 쓰러질 것이니, 이는 그들을 단련하고 정결하게 하여 마지막 때까지 희게 하려 함이라. 정해진 때가 아직 남았기 때문이다.
36 “ The king will do according to his will. He will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and will speak marvelous things against the God of gods. He will prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for that which is determined will be done.And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done.그 왕은 자기 뜻대로 행하며 스스로 높여 모든 신보다 자기를 크게 하고, 신들의 하나님을 거슬러 놀라운 말을 할 것이다. 진노가 끝날 때까지 그가 형통하리니, 이는 정해진 일이 반드시 이루어지기 때문이다.
37 He won’t regard the gods of his fathers, or the desire of women, or regard any god; for he will magnify himself above all.Neither shall he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above all.그는 자기 조상들의 신들도, 여인들이 흠모하는 신도, 어떤 신도 돌아보지 않을 것이니, 자기를 모든 것 위에 높일 것이기 때문이다.
38 But in their place, he will honor the god of fortresses. He will honor a god whom his fathers didn’t know with gold, silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things.But in his place shall he honor the god of fortresses; and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things.그 대신에 그는 요새의 신을 섬기며, 자기 조상들이 알지 못하던 신을 금과 은과 보석과 값진 것들로 받들 것이다.
39 He will deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god. He will increase with glory whoever acknowledges him. He will cause them to rule over many, and will divide the land for a price.And he shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god: whosoever acknowledgeth him he will increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for a price.그는 이방 신의 도움을 받아 가장 견고한 요새들을 칠 것이며, 그를 인정하는 자에게는 영예를 더하고 그들에게 많은 사람을 다스리게 하며 그 값으로 땅을 나누어 줄 것이다.
40 “ At the time of the end the king of the south will contend with him; and the king of the north will come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, with horsemen, and with many ships. He will enter into the countries, and will overflow and pass through.And at the time of the end shall the king of the south contend with him; and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass through.마지막 때에 남방 왕이 그와 맞서 싸울 것이며, 북방 왕은 병거와 기병과 많은 배를 거느리고 회오리바람처럼 그를 치러 올 것이다. 그가 여러 나라로 쳐들어가 홍수처럼 넘쳐 지나갈 것이다.
41 He will enter also into the glorious land, and many countries will be overthrown; but these will be delivered out of his hand: Edom, Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.그가 영화로운 땅에도 쳐들어가 많은 나라가 무너지겠으나, 에돔과 모압과 암몬 자손의 우두머리들은 그의 손에서 벗어날 것이다.
42 He will also stretch out his hand on the countries. The land of Egypt won’t escape.He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries; and the land of Egypt shall not escape.그가 여러 나라에 손을 뻗칠 것이며, 이집트 땅도 벗어나지 못할 것이다.
43 But he will have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt. The Libyans and the Ethiopians will follow his steps.But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.그가 금과 은의 보물과 이집트의 모든 값진 것을 손에 넣을 것이며, 리비아 사람과 에티오피아 사람이 그를 따를 것이다.
44 But news out of the east and out of the north will trouble him; and he will go out with great fury to destroy and utterly to sweep away many.But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him; and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to sweep away many.그러나 동쪽과 북쪽에서 들려오는 소식이 그를 괴롭게 하리니, 그가 크게 분노하여 많은 사람을 진멸하고 완전히 쓸어버리려고 나아갈 것이다.
45 He will plant the tents of his palace between the sea and the glorious holy mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the sea and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.그가 바다와 영화로운 거룩한 산 사이에 자기 궁전의 장막들을 칠 것이나, 마침내 그의 종말이 이르러 그를 도울 자가 아무도 없을 것이다.
