1 Now while Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before God’s house, there was gathered together to him out of Israel a very great assembly of men and women and children; for the people wept very bitterly.Now while Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there was gathered together unto him out of Israel a very great assembly of men and women and children; for the people wept very sore.에스라가 하나님의 성전 앞에 엎드려 울며 기도하고 죄를 자백하고 있을 때, 이스라엘 가운데서 남자와 여자와 아이들로 이루어진 아주 큰 무리가 그에게로 모여들었으니, 그 백성이 몹시 슬피 울었기 때문이다.
2 Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered Ezra, “ We have trespassed against our God, and have married foreign women of the peoples of the land. Yet now there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have married foreign women of the peoples of the land: yet now there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.엘람 자손 가운데 한 사람인 여히엘의 아들 스가냐가 에스라에게 대답하여 말했다. "우리가 우리 하나님께 범죄하여 이 땅 백성들 가운데서 이방 여인들을 아내로 맞아들였습니다. 그러나 이제라도 이 일에 관하여 이스라엘에게 소망이 있습니다.
3 Now therefore let’s make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and those who are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. 4 Arise, for the matter belongs to you and we are with you. Be courageous, and do it.”Arise; for the matter belongeth unto thee, and we are with thee: be of good courage, and do it.일어나십시오. 이 일은 당신에게 맡겨진 일이며 우리가 당신과 함께 있습니다. 용기를 내어 이 일을 행하십시오."
5 Then Ezra arose, and made the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel to swear that they would do according to this word. 6 Then Ezra rose up from before God’s house, and went into the room of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib. When he came there, he didn’t eat bread or drink water, for he mourned because of the trespass of the exiles.Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water; for he mourned because of the trespass of them of the captivity.에스라가 하나님의 성전 앞에서 일어나 엘리아십의 아들 여호하난의 방으로 들어갔다. 그가 거기에 이르러서는 빵도 먹지 않고 물도 마시지 않았으니, 이는 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 범죄 때문에 슬퍼했기 때문이다.
7 They made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together to Jerusalem;And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;그들이 유다와 예루살렘 전역에 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 모든 자손에게 예루살렘으로 함께 모이라고 선포했으며,
8 and that whoever didn’t come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his possessions should be forfeited, and he himself separated from the assembly of the captivity.and that whosoever came not within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the assembly of the captivity.누구든지 지도자들과 장로들의 권고를 따라 사흘 안에 오지 않으면, 그의 모든 재산을 몰수하고 그 사람을 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 회중에서 제외시키기로 했다.
9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within the three days. 10 Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, “ You have trespassed, and have married foreign women, increasing the guilt of Israel.And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have trespassed, and have married foreign women, to increase the guilt of Israel.에스라 제사장이 일어나서 그들에게 말했다. "여러분은 범죄하여 이방 여인들을 아내로 맞아들임으로 이스라엘의 죄를 더하였습니다.
11 Now therefore make confession to Yahweh, the God of your fathers and do his pleasure. Separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign women.”Now therefore make confession unto Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.그러니 이제 여러분 조상의 하나님이신 여호와께 자백하고 그분이 기뻐하시는 대로 행하여, 이 땅 백성들과 이방 여인들에게서 자신을 구별하십시오."
12 Then all the assembly answered with a loud voice, “ We must do as you have said concerning us.Then all the assembly answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said concerning us, so must we do.그러자 온 회중이 큰 소리로 대답했다. "당신이 우리에 관하여 말씀하신 그대로 우리가 행하겠습니다.
13 But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand outside. This is not a work of one day or two, for we have greatly transgressed in this matter.But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without: neither is this a work of one day or two; for we have greatly transgressed in this matter.그러나 백성은 많고 때는 큰 비가 내리는 철이어서 밖에 서 있을 수가 없습니다. 또 이것은 하루나 이틀에 끝낼 일도 아니니, 이는 우리가 이 일에 크게 범죄하였기 때문입니다.
14 Now let our princes be appointed for all the assembly, and let all those who are in our cities who have married foreign women come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city and its judges, until the fierce wrath of our God is turned from us, until this matter is resolved.”Let now our princes be appointed for all the assembly, and let all them that are in our cities that have married foreign women come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God be turned from us, until this matter be despatched.그러니 이제 우리 지도자들이 온 회중을 위하여 세워지게 하시고, 우리 성읍들 가운데서 이방 여인들을 아내로 맞아들인 모든 자들은 각 성읍의 장로들과 재판관들과 함께 정해진 때에 나아오게 하여, 이 일로 인한 우리 하나님의 맹렬한 진노가 우리에게서 돌이켜지고 이 일이 해결될 때까지 그렇게 하게 하십시오."

16 The children of the captivity did so. Ezra the priest, with certain heads of fathers’ households, after their fathers’ houses, and all of them by their names, were set apart; and they sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.And the children of the captivity did so. 17 They finished with all the men who had married foreign women by the first day of the first month.And they made an end with all the men that had married foreign women by the first day of the first month.그들은 첫째 달 첫날까지 이방 여인들을 아내로 맞아들인 모든 사람의 일을 끝마쳤다.
18 Among the sons of the priests there were found who had married foreign women: of the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib, and Gedaliah.And among the sons of the priests there were found that had married foreign women: namely, of the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.제사장의 자손 가운데 이방 여인들을 아내로 맞아들인 자들이 발견되었으니, 여호사닥의 아들 예수아의 자손과 그 형제들 가운데 마아세야와 엘리에셀과 야립과 그달리야였다.

22 Of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasah.And of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasah.바스훌의 자손 가운데서는 엘료에내와 마아세야와 이스마엘과 느다넬과 요사밧과 엘라사였다.
23 Of the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (also called Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.And of the Levites: Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah ( the same is Kelita ), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.레위 사람 가운데서는 요사밧과 시므이와 (글리다라고도 하는) 글라야와 브다히야와 유다와 엘리에셀이었다.
24 Of the singers: Eliashib. Of the gatekeepers: Shallum, Telem, and Uri.And of the singers: Eliashib. And of the porters: Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.노래하는 자들 가운데서는 엘리아십이었고, 문지기들 가운데서는 살룸과 델렘과 우리였다.
25 Of Israel: Of the sons of Parosh: Ramiah, Izziah, Malchijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malchijah, and Benaiah.And of Israel: Of the sons of Parosh: Ramiah, and Izziah, and Malchijah, and Mijamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.이스라엘 가운데서는, 바로스의 자손 가운데서 라먀와 잇시야와 말기야와 미야민과 엘르아살과 말기야와 브나야였다.
26 Of the sons of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth, and Elijah.And of the sons of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.엘람의 자손 가운데서는 맛다냐와 스가랴와 여히엘과 압디와 여레못과 엘리야였다.
27 Of the sons of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad, and Aziza.And of the sons of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.삿두의 자손 가운데서는 엘료에내와 엘리아십과 맛다냐와 여레못과 사밧과 아시사였다.
28 Of the sons of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.And of the sons of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.베배의 자손 가운데서는 여호하난과 하나냐와 삽배와 아들래였다.
29 Of the sons of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal, and Jeremoth.And of the sons of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.바니의 자손 가운데서는 므술람과 말룩과 아다야와 야숩과 스알과 여레못이었다.
30 Of the sons of Pahathmoab: Adna, Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui, and Manasseh.And of the sons of Pahath-moab: Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.바핫모압의 자손 가운데서는 앗나와 글랄과 브나야와 마아세야와 맛다냐와 브사렐과 빈누이와 므낫세였다.
