1 Now when these things were done, the princes came near to me, saying, “ The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, following their abominations, even those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.Now when these things were done, the princes drew near unto me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.이 일들이 다 끝난 뒤에 지도자들이 내게 와서 이렇게 말했습니다. "이스라엘 백성과 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 그 땅의 이방 민족들과 자신을 구별하지 않고, 가나안 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 여부스 사람과 암몬 사람과 모압 사람과 이집트 사람과 아모리 사람의 가증한 일들을 그대로 따라 했습니다.
2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy offspring have mixed themselves with the peoples of the lands. Yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.”For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the peoples of the lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.그들이 그 이방 민족의 딸들을 데려다가 자신과 자기 아들들의 아내로 삼았으므로, 거룩한 씨가 그 땅 이방 민족들과 서로 섞이고 말았습니다. 그런데 지도자들과 관리들이 이 죄에 앞장섰습니다."
3 When I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled the hair out of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded.And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my robe, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded.내가 이 말을 듣고 내 겉옷과 속옷을 찢고 머리털과 수염을 뜯으며 망연자실하여 주저앉았습니다.
4 Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel were assembled to me because of the trespass of the exiles; and I sat confounded until the evening offering.Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the trespass of them of the captivity; and I sat confounded until the evening oblation.그러자 이스라엘의 하나님의 말씀을 떨리는 마음으로 받드는 이들이, 사로잡혀 돌아온 무리가 지은 죄 때문에 다 내게로 모여들었습니다. 나는 저녁 제사를 드릴 때까지 망연자실한 채 앉아 있었습니다.
5 At the evening offering I rose up from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn; and I fell on my knees, and spread out my hands to Yahweh my God;And at the evening oblation I arose up from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe rent; and I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto Jehovah my God;저녁 제사를 드릴 무렵 나는 내 비참한 자리에서 일어났는데, 겉옷과 속옷은 여전히 찢긴 채였습니다. 그러고는 무릎을 꿇고 여호와 내 하나님을 향해 두 손을 펼치며
6 and I said, “ My God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God, for our iniquities have increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.and I said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God; for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our guiltiness is grown up unto the heavens.이렇게 말했습니다. "내 하나님, 내가 부끄럽고 낯이 뜨거워 주를 향해 얼굴을 들 수가 없습니다, 내 하나님. 우리의 죄악이 우리 머리 위로 넘쳤고, 우리의 허물이 하늘까지 닿을 만큼 자라났기 때문입니다.
7 Since the days of our fathers we have been exceedingly guilty to this day; and for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plunder, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.Since the days of our fathers we have been exceeding guilty unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to plunder, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.우리 조상들의 때부터 오늘에 이르기까지 우리는 크나큰 죄를 지어 왔습니다. 우리의 죄악 때문에 우리와 우리 왕들과 우리 제사장들이 이방 나라 왕들의 손에 넘겨져, 칼에 맞고 사로잡히고 약탈당하며 얼굴을 들 수 없는 수치를 당했으니, 오늘이 바로 그러합니다.
8 Now for a little moment grace has been shown from Yahweh our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a stake in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and revive us a little in our bondage.And now for a little moment grace hath been showed from Jehovah our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.그런데 이제 잠시나마 여호와 우리 하나님께서 은혜를 베푸셔서, 우리에게 살아남을 남은 자를 남겨 주시고 그 거룩한 곳에 우리를 박힌 못처럼 든든히 세워 주셨으며, 우리 하나님께서 우리 눈을 밝게 하시고 종살이 가운데서도 잠시 숨 돌릴 힘을 주셨습니다.
9 For we are bondservants; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended loving kindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to set up the house of our God, and to repair its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.For we are bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended lovingkindness unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the ruins thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.우리는 종이지만, 우리 하나님께서는 그 종살이 가운데서도 우리를 버리지 않으시고, 페르시아 왕들이 보는 앞에서 우리에게 인자하심을 베푸셨습니다. 우리에게 다시 일어설 힘을 주시고, 우리 하나님의 집을 세우게 하시며, 그 무너진 곳을 고치게 하시고, 유다와 예루살렘에 보호의 담을 주셨습니다.
10 “ Now, our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken your commandments,And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,이제, 우리 하나님, 이런 일을 겪고도 우리가 무슨 말을 하겠습니까? 우리가 주의 계명을 저버렸기 때문입니다.
11 which you have commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, ‘ The land to which you go to possess is an unclean land through the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, through their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their filthiness.which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land through the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, through their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their filthiness:주께서는 주의 종 선지자들을 통해 이렇게 명하셨습니다. '너희가 들어가 차지하려는 그 땅은 그 땅 이방 민족들의 더러움으로 오염된 부정한 땅이다. 그들의 가증한 일과 더러움이 그 땅을 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 가득 채웠다.
12 Now therefore don’t give your daughters to their sons. Don’t take their daughters to your sons, nor seek their peace or their prosperity forever, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their prosperity for ever; that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.그러므로 너희 딸을 그들의 아들에게 주지 말고, 그들의 딸을 너희 아들의 아내로 데려오지도 말며, 영원토록 그들의 평안이나 번영을 구하지 말아라. 그래야 너희가 강성해지고 그 땅의 좋은 것을 누리며, 그 땅을 너희 자손에게 영원한 유산으로 물려줄 수 있다.'
13 “ After all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such a remnant,And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great guilt, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such a remnant,우리의 악한 행실과 큰 죄로 인해 이 모든 일이 우리에게 닥쳤습니다. 그런데도 우리 하나님께서는 우리 죄악이 마땅히 받아야 할 것보다 가볍게 벌하시고, 이렇게 남은 자를 우리에게 남겨 주셨습니다.
14 shall we again break your commandments, and join ourselves with the peoples that do these abominations? Wouldn’t you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant, nor any to escape?shall we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the peoples that do these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape?그런데도 우리가 또다시 주의 계명을 어기고 이런 가증한 일을 행하는 민족들과 혼인으로 얽혀야 하겠습니까? 그리하면 주께서 진노하셔서 우리를 다 멸하시고, 남은 자도 살아남은 자도 하나 없게 하지 않으시겠습니까?
15 Yahweh, the God of Israel, you are righteous; for we are left a remnant that has escaped, as it is today. Behold, we are before you in our guiltiness; for no one can stand before you because of this.”O Jehovah, the God of Israel, thou art righteous; for we are left a remnant that is escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our guiltiness; for none can stand before thee because of this.여호와, 이스라엘의 하나님, 주는 의로우십니다. 우리가 오늘처럼 이렇게 살아남은 남은 자가 된 것이 그 증거입니다. 보십시오, 우리가 우리의 허물을 안고 주 앞에 섰습니다. 이 일로 인해 아무도 주 앞에 설 수 없습니다."
