1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,이런 일들이 있은 뒤, 페르시아 왕 아닥사스다가 다스리던 때에 에스라가 있었습니다. 그는 스라야의 아들이요, 스라야는 아사랴의 아들, 아사랴는 힐기야의 아들이며,

2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,힐기야는 살룸의 아들, 살룸은 사독의 아들, 사독은 아히둡의 아들이고,

3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,아히둡은 아마랴의 아들, 아마랴는 아사랴의 아들, 아사랴는 므라욧의 아들이며,

4 the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,므라욧은 스라히야의 아들, 스라히야는 웃시의 아들, 웃시는 북기의 아들이고,

5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest —the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest —북기는 아비수아의 아들, 아비수아는 비느하스의 아들, 비느하스는 엘르아살의 아들이며, 엘르아살은 대제사장 아론의 아들이었습니다.

6 this Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to Yahweh his God’s hand on him.this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him.이 에스라가 바벨론에서 올라왔는데, 그는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 주신 모세의 율법에 능통한 학자였습니다. 그의 하나님 여호와의 손이 그를 도우셨으므로, 왕은 그가 구하는 모든 것을 허락해 주었습니다.

7 Some of the children of Israel, including some of the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.아닥사스다 왕 칠 년에, 이스라엘 자손과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 노래하는 사람들과 문지기들과 성전 종들 가운데 일부가 예루살렘으로 올라갔습니다.

8 He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.에스라는 왕의 칠 년 다섯째 달에 예루살렘에 이르렀습니다.

9 For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon; and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him.For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon; and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.첫째 달 첫째 날에 바벨론을 떠나 올라오기 시작하여, 다섯째 달 첫째 날에 예루살렘에 다다랐으니, 이는 그의 하나님의 선한 손이 그를 도우셨기 때문입니다.

10 For Ezra had set his heart to seek Yahweh’s law, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.For Ezra had set his heart to seek the law of Jehovah, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.에스라는 여호와의 율법을 깊이 연구하여 그대로 행하며, 이스라엘에 그 규례와 법도를 가르치기로 마음을 굳게 정했습니다.

11 Now this is the copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of Yahweh’s commandments, and of his statutes to Israel:Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of Jehovah, and of his statutes to Israel:다음은 아닥사스다 왕이 제사장이며 학자인 에스라, 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 주신 계명의 말씀과 규례에 능통한 학자 에스라에게 준 조서의 사본입니다.

12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the perfect God of heaven. NowArtaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect and so forth."왕들 중의 왕 아닥사스다가 하늘의 하나님의 율법에 능통한 학자 에스라 제사장에게 평안을 비노라.

13 I make a decree that all those of the people of Israel and their priests and the Levites in my realm, who intend of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you.I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and their priests and the Levites, in my realm, that are minded of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with thee.내가 조서를 내리노니, 내 나라 안에 있는 이스라엘 백성과 그들의 제사장들과 레위 사람들 가운데 자기 뜻에 따라 자원하여 예루살렘으로 가려는 사람은 누구든지 너와 함께 가도 좋다.

14 Because you are sent by the king and his seven counselors to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand,Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king and his seven counsellors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand,너는 왕과 그의 일곱 자문관에게 보냄을 받아, 네 손에 있는 네 하나님의 율법대로 유다와 예루살렘의 형편을 살피고,

15 and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,또 왕과 그의 자문관들이 예루살렘에 거하시는 이스라엘의 하나님께 기쁜 마음으로 드린 은과 금을 가져가며,

16 and all the silver and gold that you will find in all the province of Babylon, with the free will offering of the people and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.and all the silver and gold that thou shalt find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill-offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem;바벨론 온 지방에서 네가 얻게 될 모든 은과 금과, 예루살렘에 있는 그들의 하나님의 성전을 위해 백성과 제사장들이 자원하여 드린 예물을 가져가라.

17 Therefore you shall with all diligence buy with this money bulls, rams, and lambs with their meal offerings and their drink offerings, and shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.therefore thou shalt with all diligence buy with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meal-offerings and their drink-offerings, and shalt offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.그러므로 너는 이 돈으로 부지런히 수송아지와 숫양과 어린양과, 거기에 따르는 곡식제물과 부어 드리는 제물을 사서, 예루살렘에 있는 네 하나님의 성전 제단 위에 드려라.

18 Whatever seems good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do that according to the will of your God.And whatsoever shall seem good to thee and to thy brethren to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do ye after the will of your God.그 나머지 은과 금으로 무엇을 하든지, 너와 네 형제들이 보기에 좋은 대로 네 하나님의 뜻을 따라 하여라.

19 The vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.And the vessels that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.네 하나님의 성전을 섬기는 데 쓰라고 네게 맡긴 그릇들은 예루살렘의 하나님 앞에 바쳐라.

20 Whatever more will be needed for the house of your God, which you may have occasion to give, give it out of the king’s treasure house.And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure-house.그 밖에 네 하나님의 성전을 위해 필요하여 네가 마련해야 할 것이 있거든, 왕의 보물 창고에서 가져다 쓰라.

21 I, even I, Artaxerxes the king, make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, requires of you, it shall be done with all diligence,And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers that are beyond the River, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence,나 곧 아닥사스다 왕이 강 건너편의 모든 재무관에게 조서를 내리노니, 하늘의 하나님의 율법에 능통한 학자 에스라 제사장이 너희에게 요구하는 것은 무엇이든지 부지런히 시행하되,

22 up to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred cors of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.unto a hundred talents of silver, and to a hundred measures of wheat, and to a hundred baths of wine, and to a hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.은은 백 달란트까지, 밀은 백 고르까지, 포도주는 백 밧까지, 기름은 백 밧까지 주고, 소금은 제한 없이 주어라.

23 Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?하늘의 하나님께서 명하신 것은 무엇이든지 하늘의 하나님의 성전을 위해 정성껏 시행하라. 어찌하여 왕과 그 아들들의 나라에 진노가 임하게 하겠느냐?

24 Also we inform you that it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll on any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, or laborers of this house of God.Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, upon them.또 우리가 너희에게 알리노니, 이 하나님의 성전을 섬기는 제사장들이나 레위 사람들이나 노래하는 사람들이나 문지기들이나 성전 종들이나 일꾼들에게는 조공이나 관세나 통행세를 부과하는 것이 법에 어긋난다.

25 You, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, who all know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn’t know them.And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God that is in thy hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people that are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye him that knoweth them not.그리고 너 에스라는 네 손에 있는 네 하나님의 지혜를 따라, 강 건너편의 모든 백성, 곧 네 하나님의 율법을 아는 모든 사람을 재판할 관리들과 재판관들을 세우고, 그 율법을 알지 못하는 사람은 가르쳐라.

26 Whoever will not do the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it is to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed upon him with all diligence, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.누구든지 네 하나님의 율법과 왕의 법을 지키지 않으면, 그에게 부지런히 판결을 내려 사형에 처하거나 추방하거나 재산을 몰수하거나 옥에 가두어라."

27 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem;Blessed be Jehovah, the God of our fathers, who hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem;우리 조상의 하나님 여호와를 찬송합니다. 그분은 예루살렘에 있는 여호와의 성전을 아름답게 하려는 이런 마음을 왕의 마음에 두셨고,

28 and has extended loving kindness to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. I was strengthened according to Yahweh my God’s hand on me, and I gathered together chief men out of Israel to go up with me.and hath extended lovingkindness unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened according to the hand of Jehovah my God upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.또 왕과 그의 자문관들과 왕의 권세 있는 모든 신하 앞에서 내게 은혜를 베풀어 주셨습니다. 내 하나님 여호와의 손이 나를 도우셨으므로, 나는 힘을 얻어 이스라엘 가운데서 우두머리 되는 사람들을 모아 나와 함께 올라가게 했습니다.
