1 Now you shall gather yourself in troops, daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.Now shalt thou gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us; they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.이제 군대의 딸이여, 너는 떼를 지어 모이라. 그가 우리를 향하여 에워쌌으니, 그들이 이스라엘의 재판관을 막대기로 뺨을 칠 것이다.
2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me who is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.그러나 너 베들레헴 에브라다야, 너는 유다의 족속들 가운데 작으나, 네게서 나를 위하여 한 분이 나와 이스라엘을 다스릴 자가 되리니, 그의 나오심은 옛적부터요 영원부터다.
3 Therefore he will abandon them until the time that she who is in labor gives birth. Then the rest of his brothers will return to the children of Israel.Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she who travaileth hath brought forth: then the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.그러므로 해산하는 여인이 아이를 낳을 그때까지 그분이 그들을 버려 두시리라. 그 후에 그의 형제들 가운데 남은 자들이 이스라엘 자손에게로 돌아오리라.
4 He shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of Yahweh, in the majesty of the name of Yahweh his God. They will live, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth.And he shall stand, and shall feed his flock in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God: and they shall abide; for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.그가 서서 여호와의 힘으로, 그의 하나님 여호와의 이름의 위엄으로 목자가 되어 양 떼를 먹이리니, 그들이 안전히 살 것이다. 이는 그가 이제 땅끝까지 위대하게 되실 것이기 때문이다.
5 He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.And this man shall be our peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.앗수르가 우리 땅에 쳐들어오고 우리의 요새를 짓밟을 때에, 그가 우리의 평화가 되시리라. 그때에 우리가 그를 막아 일곱 목자와 여덟 지도자를 일으키리라.
6 They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in its gates. He will deliver us from the Assyrian, when he invades our land, and when he marches within our border.And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our border.그들이 칼로 앗수르 땅을 다스리고, 니므롯 땅을 그 성문에서 다스리리라. 앗수르 사람이 우리 땅에 쳐들어오고 우리 국경 안을 짓밟을 때에, 그가 우리를 앗수르 사람에게서 건져 내시리라.
7 The remnant of Jacob will be among many peoples like dew from Yahweh, like showers on the grass, that don’t wait for man nor wait for the sons of men.And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarry not for man, nor wait for the sons of men.야곱의 남은 자들이 많은 백성 가운데 있어 여호와께로부터 내리는 이슬 같고, 풀 위에 내리는 단비 같으리니, 이는 사람을 기다리지 않고 사람의 아들들을 바라지도 않는다.
8 The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, among many peoples, like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is no one to deliver.And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he go through, treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.야곱의 남은 자들이 여러 나라 가운데, 많은 백성 가운데 있어 숲속 짐승들 가운데 있는 사자 같고, 양 떼 가운데 있는 젊은 사자 같으리니, 그가 지나가며 짓밟고 찢으면 건져 낼 자가 없으리라.
9 Let your hand be lifted up above your adversaries, and let all of your enemies be cut off.Let thy hand be lifted up above thine adversaries, and let all thine enemies be cut off.네 손이 네 대적들 위에 들리고, 네 모든 원수가 끊어질지어다.
10 “ It will happen in that day”, says Yahweh, “ that I will cut off your horses from among you and will destroy your chariots.And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and will destroy thy chariots:여호와께서 말씀하시기를 "그날에 내가 너희 가운데서 네 말들을 끊고 네 병거들을 멸하며,
11 I will cut off the cities of your land and will tear down all your strongholds.and I will cut off the cities of thy land, and will throw down all thy strongholds.네 땅의 성읍들을 끊고 네 모든 요새를 헐며,
12 I will destroy witchcraft from your hand. You shall have no soothsayers.And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:네 손에서 복술을 끊으리니, 네게 다시는 점쟁이가 없으리라.
13 I will cut off your engraved images and your pillars from among you; and you shall no more worship the work of your hands.and I will cut off thy graven images and thy pillars out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thy hands;내가 너희 가운데서 새긴 우상들과 주상들을 끊으리니, 네가 다시는 네 손으로 만든 것에 절하지 아니하리라.
14 I will uproot your Asherah poles from among you; and I will destroy your cities.and I will pluck up thine Asherim out of the midst of thee; and I will destroy thy cities.내가 너희 가운데서 아세라 목상들을 뽑고, 네 성읍들을 멸하리라.
15 I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that didn’t listen.”And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations which hearkened not.내가 노와 분노로 순종하지 아니한 민족들에게 복수를 행하리라" 하셨다.
