1 Yahweh’s word which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah.The word of Jehovah which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.유다 왕 아몬의 아들 요시야가 다스리던 시절에, 히스기야의 현손이요 아마랴의 증손이며 그다랴의 손자요 구시의 아들인 스바냐에게 임한 여호와의 말씀입니다.
2 I will utterly sweep away everything from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.I will utterly consume all things from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah.여호와께서 말씀하신다. 내가 땅 위에서 모든 것을 완전히 쓸어버리겠다.
3 I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah.내가 사람과 짐승을 쓸어버리고, 하늘의 새와 바다의 물고기를 쓸어버리며, 악인들과 함께 그들을 넘어지게 하던 우상들도 쓸어버리겠다. 내가 사람을 땅 위에서 끊어 버리겠다. 여호와께서 하시는 말씀이다.
4 I will stretch out my hand against Judah and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place — the name of the idolatrous and pagan priests,And I will stretch out my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarim with the priests;내가 유다를 향하여, 또 예루살렘의 모든 주민을 향하여 손을 뻗치겠다. 내가 이곳에서 바알의 남은 자취를 끊어 버리고, 우상을 섬기는 이교 제사장들의 이름까지 끊어 버리겠다.
5 those who worship the army of the sky on the housetops, those who worship and swear by Yahweh and also swear by Malcam,and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, that swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam;또 지붕 위에서 하늘의 별 무리에게 절하는 자들, 여호와께 경배하며 맹세하면서도 동시에 말감(밀곰)을 두고 맹세하는 자들,
6 those who have turned back from following Yahweh, and those who haven’t sought Yahweh nor inquired after him.and them that are turned back from following Jehovah; and those that have not sought Jehovah, nor inquired after him.여호와를 따르다가 등을 돌린 자들, 그리고 여호와를 찾지도 않고 그분께 구하지도 않은 자들을 다 끊어 버리겠다.
7 Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord Jehovah; for the day of Jehovah is at hand: for Jehovah hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath consecrated his guests.주 여호와 앞에서 잠잠하여라. 여호와의 날이 가까웠기 때문이다. 여호와께서 제물을 준비하시고, 자기가 부른 손님들을 거룩하게 구별하셨다.
8 It will happen in the day of Yahweh’s sacrifice that I will punish the princes, the king’s sons, and all those who are clothed with foreign clothing.And it shall come to pass in the day of Jehovah’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s sons, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.여호와께서 제사를 드리시는 그날에, 내가 고관들과 왕자들과 이방의 옷을 입은 모든 자를 벌하겠다.
9 In that day, I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and deceit.And in that day I will punish all those that leap over the threshold, that fill their master’s house with violence and deceit.그날에 내가 문지방을 뛰어넘는 모든 자들, 곧 폭력과 속임수로 자기 주인의 집을 채우는 자들을 벌하겠다.
10 In that day, says Yahweh, there will be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.And in that day, saith Jehovah, there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.여호와께서 말씀하신다. 그날에 물고기 문에서는 부르짖는 소리가, 둘째 구역에서는 통곡하는 소리가, 언덕들에서는 크게 무너지는 소리가 날 것이다.
11 Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the people of Canaan are undone! All those who were loaded with silver are cut off.Wail, ye inhabitants of Maktesh; for all the people of Canaan are undone; all they that were laden with silver are cut off.막데스 주민들아, 통곡하여라. 장사하는 백성이 다 망하였고, 은을 짊어지고 다니던 자들이 다 끊어졌기 때문이다.
12 It will happen at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are settled on their dregs, who say in their heart, “ Yahweh will not do good, neither will he do evil.”And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil.그때에 내가 등불을 들고 예루살렘을 샅샅이 뒤지겠다. 그리고 찌꺼기 위에 가라앉은 술처럼 안일에 빠져 마음속으로 "여호와는 좋은 일도 하지 않고 나쁜 일도 하지 않는다"라고 말하는 자들을 벌하겠다.
13 Their wealth will become a plunder, and their houses a desolation. Yes, they will build houses, but won’t inhabit them. They will plant vineyards, but won’t drink their wine.And their wealth shall become a spoil, and their houses a desolation: yea, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof.그들의 재물은 약탈당하고, 그들의 집은 폐허가 될 것이다. 그들이 집을 지어도 거기 살지 못하고, 포도원을 가꾸어도 그 포도주를 마시지 못할 것이다.
14 The great day of Yahweh is near. It is near and hurries greatly, the voice of the day of Yahweh. The mighty man cries there bitterly.The great day of Jehovah is near, it is near and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of Jehovah; the mighty man crieth there bitterly.여호와의 큰 날이 가까웠다. 가까이 와서 빠르게 다가오고 있다. 여호와의 날의 소리가 들린다. 그때에는 용사조차 거기서 비통하게 부르짖을 것이다.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,그날은 진노의 날이요, 고난과 괴로움의 날이며, 환난과 황폐의 날이요, 어둠과 음침함의 날이며, 구름과 흑암의 날이다.
16 a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high battlements.a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements.견고한 성읍들과 높은 망대를 치는, 나팔 소리와 전쟁의 함성이 울리는 날이다.
17 I will bring such distress on men that they will walk like blind men because they have sinned against Yahweh. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Jehovah; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung.내가 사람들에게 고통을 내려, 그들이 눈먼 자처럼 헤매게 하겠다. 그들이 여호와께 죄를 지었기 때문이다. 그들의 피는 먼지처럼 쏟아지고, 그들의 살은 똥처럼 버려질 것이다.
18 Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he will make an end, yea, a terrible end, of all them that dwell in the land.여호와의 진노의 날에는 그들의 은도 금도 그들을 건질 수 없을 것이다. 온 땅이 그분의 질투의 불에 삼켜질 것이니, 이는 그분이 이 땅에 사는 모든 자를 끝장내실 것이기 때문이다. 참으로 무서운 종말이다.
