1 Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “ My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?And Naomi her mother-in-law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?룻의 시어머니 나오미가 룻에게 말했다. 2 Now isn’t Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he will be winnowing barley tonight on the threshing floor.And now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to-night in the threshing-floor.보아라, 네가 그 집 여종들과 함께 일했던 보아스는 우리의 친족이 아니냐? 오늘 밤에 그가 타작마당에서 보리를 까부른다.
3 Therefore wash yourself, anoint yourself, get dressed, and go down to the threshing floor; but don’t make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the threshing-floor, but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.그러니 너는 몸을 씻고 기름을 바르고 옷을 차려입고 타작마당으로 내려가거라. 다만 그 사람이 먹고 마시기를 마칠 때까지는 그에게 너를 알리지 마라.
4 It shall be, when he lies down, that you shall note the place where he is lying. Then you shall go in, uncover his feet, and lie down. Then he will tell you what to do.”And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.그가 누울 때에 너는 그가 눕는 곳을 잘 보아 두었다가, 들어가서 그의 발치를 들치고 누워라. 그러면 그가 네가 할 일을 일러 줄 것이다."
5 She said to her, “ All that you say, I will do.”And she said unto her, All that thou sayest I will do.룻이 시어머니에게 말했다. "어머니가 말씀하시는 대로 다 하겠습니다."
6 She went down to the threshing floor, and did everything that her mother-in-law told her.And she went down unto the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.룻은 타작마당으로 내려가서 시어머니가 자기에게 일러 준 대로 다 행했다.
7 When Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. 8 At midnight, the man was startled and turned himself; and behold, a woman lay at his feet.And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself; and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.한밤중이 되었을 때에 보아스가 깜짝 놀라 몸을 돌이켜 보니, 한 여자가 그의 발치에 누워 있었다.
9 He said, “ Who are you?” She answered, “ I am Ruth your servant. Therefore spread the corner of your garment over your servant; for you are a near kinsman.”And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thy handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thy handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.그가 물었다. "너는 누구냐?" 룻이 대답했다. "저는 당신의 여종 룻입니다. 당신의 옷자락을 펴서 이 여종을 덮어 주십시오. 당신은 저를 위해 기업을 무를 친족이시기 때문입니다."
10 He said, “ You are blessed by Yahweh, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, because you didn’t follow young men, whether poor or rich.And he said, Blessed be thou of Jehovah, my daughter: thou hast showed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.보아스가 말했다. "내 딸아, 여호와께서 네게 복 주시기를 바란다. 네가 가난한 사람이든 부유한 사람이든 젊은 남자들을 따라가지 않았으니, 이 나중의 인애가 처음보다 더 크구나.
11 Now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do to you all that you say; for all the city of my people knows that you are a worthy woman.And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou sayest; for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a worthy woman.내 딸아, 이제 두려워하지 마라. 네가 말하는 대로 내가 다 해 주겠다. 네가 현숙한 여인인 줄을 내 백성의 온 성읍이 다 알고 있다.
12 Now it is true that I am a near kinsman. However, there is a kinsman nearer than I.And now it is true that I am a near kinsman; howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.이제 내가 기업을 무를 친족인 것은 사실이다. 그러나 나보다 더 가까운 친족이 하나 있다.
13 Stay this night, and in the morning, if he will perform for you the part of a kinsman, good. Let him do the kinsman’s duty. But if he will not do the duty of a kinsman for you, then I will do the duty of a kinsman for you, as Yahweh lives. Lie down until the morning.”Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as Jehovah liveth: lie down until the morning.오늘 밤은 여기서 머물러라. 아침이 되어 그가 너를 위해 친족의 의무를 행하려 하면, 좋다, 그가 그 친족의 의무를 행하게 하여라. 그러나 만일 그가 너를 위해 친족의 의무를 행하려 하지 않으면, 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하니, 내가 너를 위해 친족의 의무를 행하겠다. 아침까지 누워 있어라."
14 She lay at his feet until the morning, then she rose up before one could discern another. For he said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.”And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could discern another. For he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing-floor.그래서 룻은 아침까지 그의 발치에 누워 있다가, 사람이 서로를 알아볼 수 있기 전에 일어났다. 보아스가 "그 여인이 타작마당에 온 것을 알리지 마라" 하고 말했기 때문이다.
15 He said, “ Bring the mantle that is on you, and hold it.” She held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; then he went into the city.And he said, Bring the mantle that is upon thee, and hold it; and she held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and he went into the city.보아스가 말했다. 16 When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “ How did it go, my daughter?” She told her all that the man had done for her.And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.룻이 시어머니에게 돌아오니, 시어머니가 물었다. "내 딸아, 일이 어떻게 되었느냐?" 룻은 그 사람이 자기에게 행한 모든 것을 시어머니에게 다 이야기했다.
17 She said, “ He gave me these six measures of barley; for he said, ‘Don’t go empty to your mother-in-law.’”And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said, Go not empty unto thy mother-in-law.룻이 말했다. "그가 제게 이 보리 여섯 되를 주면서 말하기를, '네 시어머니에게 빈손으로 가지 마라' 하였습니다."
18 Then she said, “ Wait, my daughter, until you know what will happen; for the man will not rest until he has settled this today.”Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall; for the man will not rest, until he have finished the thing this day.그러자 시어머니가 말했다. "내 딸아, 이 일이 어떻게 될지 네가 알 때까지 가만히 앉아 있어라. 그 사람이 오늘 이 일을 마치기까지는 쉬지 않을 것이다."
