1 For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;For I would have you know how greatly I strive for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;나는 여러분이, 또 라오디게아에 있는 사람들과 아직 내 얼굴을 직접 보지 못한 모든 이들을 위해 내가 얼마나 힘써 싸우고 있는지를 알기를 바랍니다.
2 that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, even Christ,이는 그들의 마음이 위로를 받고, 사랑 안에서 함께 굳게 연결되어, 깨달음의 온전한 확신에서 오는 모든 풍성함을 얻으며, 하나님의 비밀 곧 아버지와 그리스도를 알게 하려는 것입니다.
3 in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.그리스도 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보화가 감추어져 있습니다.
4 Now I say this that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech.This I say, that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech.내가 이 말을 하는 것은, 아무도 그럴듯한 말로 여러분을 속이지 못하게 하려는 것입니다.
5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.For though I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.내가 비록 몸으로는 떨어져 있으나 영으로는 여러분과 함께 있어, 여러분의 질서 있는 모습과 그리스도를 향한 믿음의 굳건함을 보고 기뻐합니다.
6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,As therefore ye received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,그러므로 여러분이 주 그리스도 예수를 받아들인 것처럼, 그분 안에서 살아가십시오.
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.rooted and builded up in him, and established in your faith, even as ye were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.그분 안에 뿌리를 내리고 세움을 받으며, 여러분이 배운 대로 믿음에 굳게 서서, 감사함으로 넘치게 하십시오.
8 Be careful that you don’ t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elemental spirits of the world, and not after Christ.Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ:누구도 사람의 전통과 세상의 초보적인 가르침을 따르고 그리스도를 따르지 않는 철학과 헛된 속임수로 여러분을 사로잡지 못하도록 조심하십시오.
9 For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily,그리스도 안에는 신성의 모든 충만함이 몸으로 거하고 있으며,
10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.and in him ye are made full, who is the head of all principality and power:여러분은 그분 안에서 충만함을 얻었으니, 그분은 모든 통치와 권세의 머리이십니다.
11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ,in whom ye were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ;여러분은 또한 그분 안에서 사람의 손으로 행하지 않은 할례를 받았는데, 곧 육체의 죄의 몸을 벗어 버리는 그리스도의 할례입니다.
12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.having been buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.여러분은 세례 안에서 그분과 함께 묻혔고, 또한 그 안에서 그분을 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 하나님의 역사하심을 믿는 믿음으로 그분과 함께 살리심을 받았습니다.
13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,And you, being dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, you, I say, did he make alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses;여러분은 여러분의 허물과 육체의 무할례로 인해 죽어 있었으나, 하나님께서 우리의 모든 허물을 용서하시고 그분과 함께 여러분을 살리셨습니다.
14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he hath taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;우리를 거스르던 율법 조문의 빚 문서를 지워 버리시고, 그것을 십자가에 못 박아 우리 가운데서 없애 버리셨습니다.
15 Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.having despoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.또한 통치자들과 권세자들의 무장을 벗기시고, 그들을 드러내어 십자가로 그들을 이기시고 공개적으로 승리하셨습니다.
16 Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day,Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:그러므로 누구도 먹고 마시는 일이나, 절기나 초하루나 안식일에 관하여 여러분을 판단하지 못하게 하십시오.
17 which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.이것들은 앞으로 올 것들의 그림자일 뿐이며, 그 실체는 그리스도이십니다.
18 Let no one rob you of your prize by self-abasement and worshiping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,Let no man rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he hath seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,누구도 거짓 겸손과 천사 숭배로 여러분의 상을 빼앗지 못하게 하십시오. 그런 사람은 자기가 본 것에만 빠져, 육신의 생각으로 헛되이 교만해진 자입니다.
19 and not holding firmly to the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and ligaments, grows with God’s growth.and not holding fast the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and bands, increaseth with the increase of God.그는 머리이신 분을 굳게 붙들지 않는데, 온 몸은 이 머리로부터 마디와 힘줄을 통해 공급받고 함께 연결되어 하나님께서 주시는 성장으로 자라갑니다.
20 If you died with Christ from the elemental spirits of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances,If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances,여러분이 그리스도와 함께 세상의 초보적인 가르침에 대하여 죽었다면, 어찌하여 아직도 세상에 속한 자처럼 그런 규례에 매여 사는 것입니까?
21 “Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch”Handle not, nor taste, nor touch"잡지 말라, 맛보지 말라, 만지지 말라"
22 ( all of which perish with use ), according to the precepts and doctrines of men?( all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men?하는 것들 말입니다. 이것들은 모두 쓰면 없어질 것들이며, 사람의 명령과 가르침을 따른 것일 뿐입니다.
23 These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’ t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but are not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.이런 것들은 스스로 꾸며 낸 숭배와 겸손과 몸을 학대하는 일로 겉보기에는 지혜로워 보이지만, 육체의 정욕을 억제하는 데는 아무런 가치가 없습니다.
